25.01.2022 Merry #Christmas and a Happy New Year from Shion Art As we near the end of what has been a challenging year for most of us, I'd like to extend my gratitude to all who have visited my home studio, commissioned paintings from me, followed my Inktober posts or have come to my Margaret River library exhibition. This year will be a bitter sweet Christmas for me. Like many of you, I won't be able to spend the festive season with my own family who are grappling with a second wave of... pandemic over in a snowy, wintery Italy. Instead, I'm one of the lucky new Australian citizens who's spending Christmas between shorts and bathers! So, while I feel blessed to be living in one of the safest places on earth at the moment, I've been inspired to paint scenes that remind me of my home and childhood. Here's one for you to enjoy! 20.01.2022 Today I would like to introduce Lydia, a beautiful dancer. Lydia is wearing a peasant costume for the Swan Lake Peasant pas de trois, 2nd variation. The bodice is made from silk dupion and silk/cotton blend for the faux chemise, with a romantic skirt made from four layers of custom dyed bridal tulle. Her amazing mother Linda is a librarian who creates exquisite custom made classical ballet tutus designed to enhance a dancer's performance (as you can see). ...
