20.01.2022 Looking for a quirky read why not try The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson It all starts on the one-hundredth birthday of Allan Karlsson. Sitting quietly in his room in an old people’s home, he is waiting for a party that he never wanted when he decides to run away! ... What follows is an unbelievable adventure with an unusual group of friends he makes along the way. Events past and present build up over the book and become more and more outrageous, which reminded me of Tom Sharpe’s Wilt series. I enjoyed the author’s witty writing style, and the main character’s relaxed outlook on life. Reserve a copy, using your membership and pin number https://swlc.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_GB/dardanup/

13.01.2022 These two books have a lot in common Tidelands by Phillipa Gregory & Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell A strong female character of unusual quality, both herbalists, slightly out of place in her time, motherhood, grief and love. Incredible research in both books takes you straight to their time and setting, the first set during the English Civil War, the other, despite the title is the story of Shakespeare's wife Agnes, although he is never mentioned by name....
