24.01.2022 Our wonderful Shire Sporthorse Registry Certificate.

23.01.2022 Our Society is extremely pleased to announce that we have a new Committee member in Alan Mayne. Alan has owned Shires since 2011, owning 11 since then and 8 Shires at present. He has been a long time member of our Society. Alan, and Judy King, traveled all the way from the Adelaide Hills, by car, to attend some of our seminars and clinics at Camden NSW. Alan and Judy truly love their Shires and have bred some lovely foals. Here is Alan with one of them, Kirkliston Heart of Oak, now standing at stud at the Ingleside Shire Horse Stud. Welcome to our Committee Alan and we look forward to working with you to promote the magnificent Shire in Australia and the world.

17.01.2022 The Sydney Royal Easter Show has announced that horse entries will be deferred until after 1st December. No more hint has been given as to whether the show will go ahead. This is Ingleside Lucky Chance winning the Shire Horse Society Australia Heritage Perpetual Trophy for Best Gelding at Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2016. Owned and exhibited by Sarah Dooley. With the Judge, Louise Beer.

15.01.2022 We have a very interesting but concise history of the Shire, on our website. https://shirehorsesociety.com.au/history-of-the-shire-horse/

15.01.2022 A reminder to everyone that the new registration year starts on 1st August, the Horses' Birthday. You will save money if you register this year's progeny before then

14.01.2022 Shire foaling season is here in Australia. Beautiful new lives!

11.01.2022 Did you know that if you own or buy a light horse, and breed it to a registered Shire, the foal will be eligible for registration in our Shire Sporthorse Registry at a very reasonable cost. And the next generation can also be registered, that is, the 1/4 Shire Sporthorse. This beautiful filly is Bucca Valley Blue Ash, who is out of a Thoroughbred mare and by a Shire stallion, Ingleside Remarkable. Photo and breeder, Kate Williams.

10.01.2022 It's no wonder everyone wants to get high and ride a Shire.

09.01.2022 Keep calm, and jump on a Shire!

09.01.2022 Latest News From the Sydney Royal Easter Show Horse Committee. There are still a lot of issues we would like to know about the show next year, to do with being able to stay with your horses, bring in helpers etc. Will it be only day stables? When we hear anymore we will pass the info on. Dear Horse Exhibitor, With 2021 just around the corner we wish to thank you for your on-going support throughout this year and confirm that the Sydney Royal Easter Show will be held from 1 - ...12 April, 2021. Unfortunately, in order to proceed with the 2021 Sydney Royal Horse Show the RAS Horse Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the following competitions, sections and classes for the 2021 Show: Team Penning Buckskin Classes (All classes) Ranch Sorting Palomino Classes (All classes) Equestrian Vaulting Pinto Classes (All classes) Horseball Heavy Horse Obstacle Classes Small Arena Campdraft (Jnr & Snr) Shetland Light Harness Yearling Classes over all Breeds Police Classes and Musical Rides FURTHER The Federation Challenge Rodeo Series will be held over 6 days from 1 April to 6 April and there will be no PBR Rodeo Competition. The World Championship Campdraft will also be held over 6 days from 7 April to 12 April. We understand these changes will come as a disappointment for many, especially those that may have been preparing for the above events, however, this difficult decision was required to ensure the success of the Sydney Royal Horse Show next year. Entries for the Sydney Royal Horse Competition Breeds, Hacks, Harness, Riding and Showjumping will open Thursday 3rd of December 2020. This week you will receive further information regarding competition closing dates and 2021 guidelines. Although we still have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us to ensure the success of Australia’s largest ticketed event, we are delighted to say the event is on track and we will continue to communicate with you as further details are secured. We wish you all a joyous and safe Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year. To keep updated on the RAS and monitor information regarding competitions and schedules, please visit RAS Horse website. 08.01.2022 New 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show dates announced From the RAS NSW Dear Exhibitor... To ensure the success of the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show (Show), the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) will be changing next year’s Show dates to align with the 2021 NSW Easter school holidays. The new dates for the 2021 Show are Thursday 1st till Monday 12th April 2021. Like many of you, the RAS and the Australian events industry has been directly affected by COVID-19, however, as reflected in the incredible messages of support we have received over the past few months, the importance of Australia’s largest annual ticketed event is stronger than ever. With the new dates providing more flexibility to adhere to social distancing measures and disperse crowds across the 12 days of Show, this is the first of many measures the RAS will implement to ensure next year’s Show is as safe as possible for exhibitors and guests. Following a temporary closure, the RAS has reopened for business and as we get back on our feet over the next few months, RAS staff will be working reduced hours. For all updates and information regarding the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show competition opening and closing dates please monitor the RAS website. On behalf of the RAS, thank you for your ongoing support and patience.
