23.01.2022 Over the last month the Shires team have assisted local Police with several crime and missing persons investigations by reviewing CCTV footage from the various cameras the Shire has located around our facilities. We currently have 75 cameras located at numerous locations though-out the Shire. The Gingin Police have direct access to all of these cameras and we are currently working with WA Police to share access directly to the State Intelligence and Command Center. Many of these incidents have resulted in positive outcomes and potential prosecutions of offenders. Great work team!

03.01.2022 R U OK? Day is today, Thursday 10 September 2020. Its the national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with lifes ups and downs. The message for R U OK? Day 2020 is: 'THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?' 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those ...around us. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before theyre in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

02.01.2022 MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK SURVEY RESULTS A huge thank you for those that participated in the recent mountain bike survey. It closed last week and produced the following results:... 382 local responses (one of the highest response figures for a Shire led survey) Around 93% of respondents said they were in support of a mountain bike development in Bindoon. This high level of support remained true across all respondent age groups and locations. The following features were most appealing (in order); 1. Mountain bike trails 2. Walking trails 3. Barbecue/picnic and summit point 4. Toilets/Showers 5. Additional co-located attractions 6. Caravan and accommodation facilities 7. Chairlift for people and bikes. 65% want it built now, 14% in line with the Bindoon 'Heavy Haulage Route', 21% happy to wait until funding available A complete mountain bike and adventure park would be frequented 62% more, each year, than a few trails on the hill. Concerns about impacts upon rates was highest with one-third of respondents saying this was of significant concern or greater. Other responses about development in other areas of the Shire, other potential projects and the environmental impact were noted too. These summaries, and each individual response, have been compiled and will be presented to Council for their October ordinary council meeting. In the meantime, keep a lookout for a major sport and recreation survey where this potential project will once again feature. We hope that you can keep engaged with us, as it will have hold significant consequence on where Shire resources will be focused in the coming years.
