25.01.2022 BOKERUP AND UNICUP HALLS INFORMATION REQUIRED Enquiries have been made to the Shire regarding the status of the Bokerup Hall located at 814 Bokerup Road Frankland River and the Unicup Hall located at 1561 Unicup Road Frankland River. BOKERUP HALL... The land where the Bokerup Hall is situated is freehold land that is owned by the Bokerup Progress Association Incorporated and is known as Lot 12628 on Deposited Plan 167805. Our records show that the Bokerup Progress Association was incorporated on 9 September 1965 and the constitution is registered in accordance with the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 and has not been cancelled. The progress association therefore owns the hall. UNICUP HALL The Unicup Hall is located on Reserve 27270 which is vested to the Shire for the purpose of recreation and the Unicup Progress Association Incorporated have a lease with the Shire over Reserve 27270 which includes the hall building and other infrastructure located on this reserve. Our records show that the Unicup Progress Association was incorporated on 3 February 1982 and the constitution is registered in accordance with the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 and has not been cancelled. As many of you would know the Unicup Hall sustained significant damage during the Lake Muir earthquake in 2018. Building reports have been undertaken and repairs have been estimated at well over $500,000 to repair the damage and to ensure the building is compliant with all relevant laws that relate to a public building. Both Councillors and Shire staff have made enquiries with local residents about the Bokerup and Unicup Progress Associations however, to no avail. Therefore it would be much appreciated if any member of the public that has any information or knowledge about either the Bokerup or Unicup Progress Association, or where we could track down previous members of the associations, could contact Trish at the Shire on 9826 1008.
24.01.2022 RANGER JOE’S FUN FACT FRIDAY Did you know that once a month we sit down with the Shire of Cranbrook’s Ranger, Joe. 06.01.2022 PLAY IT FOOD SAFE DID YOU KNOW? Most people think they handle and prepare food safely, yet statistics show the majority of food poisoning occurs in the home. ... Food poisoning can be very serious, particularly for vulnerable sections of the community such as the elderly and children. However, preventing food poisoning is simple if foods are handled and stored correctly. The Department of Health suggest to follow these key steps to minimise your risk of food poisoning in your household; 1. Clean: Always clean your hands, bench tops and utensils before, during and after preparing food. 2. Separate: Keep raw foods (meat, chicken, seafood), eggs, ready-to-eat foods (fruit and vegetables) and cooked foods away from each other in the fridge. 3. Cook: Cook food all the way through and reheat food until it is steaming hot. 4. Chill: Avoid the temperature danger zone and keep foods below 5C (or hot foods above 60C).
