24.01.2022 || GLEN FORREST SPORTS CLUB TURNS 90 || One of our community grants recipients, Glen Forrest Sports Club, will be hosting a celebration this Sunday 15 November as the club officially turns 90. In 90 years the sporting club has stood tall, outlasting two world wars and has seen many generations come and go.... Dating back to the 1940s, these carriages have been well used and well loved, though have stayed closed and dormant for two years before being moved to their new home. 10.01.2022 HorsePower Hills Resilience After a rocky road this year, HorsePower Hills has a vision to close their gates at Sawyer’s Valley and relocate to a new premises with potential for the group to grow and support HorsePower Australia, regional hubs and provide facilities for other local community groups. The scheme, which offers a 10c refund for every eligible container, officially kicked off in Western Australia today with the drop-off point at the Coppin Road Community Recycling Centre now open for business. ... Through the scheme, Shire of Mundaring can continue to champion a sustainable future, facilitate community recycling efforts and support fundraising initiatives by local groups, Cr Daw said. Sawyers Valley’s Riding for the Disabled Association Horsepower Hills was the first group to turn containers into change for their organisation. 08.01.2022 || ROOM FOR CHANGE AT BILGOMAN AQUATIC CENTRE || A new family change room at Bilgoman Aquatic Centre will create a more inclusive environment for those with young families and special needs. The room is wheelchair accessible and includes removable non-slip mats, hooks to hold clothes and towels. Handrails will be installed soon.... Using part of a storage shed, staff were quick to clean it out and created a dividing wall to produce the private room. This is only a temporary solution with a refurbishment to the Bilgoman Aquatic facilities scheduled for 2022-23. A big shout out to staff and Cr Amy Collins for their support in this update. Under the new arrangements the Shire will: Close access to Lake Leschenaultia, but keep the campground open, if the Lower West Inland area's Fire Danger rating is Severe. This reserve is bounded by Oxley Road to the west, Hedges Road to the south and Brooking Road to the east. Burning operations and monitoring will take place over the next five days.
