25.01.2022 Western Australia’s next key trails town, is just months out from the opening of a significant piece of infrastructure, with the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre fit out works approximately 70% complete. 25.01.2022 Today in Dwellingup, 35 kilometres of new mountain bike trails were officially opened in Lane Poole Reserve Catering for a range of biking abilities, the Murray Valley trail network includes traditional cross-country trails through to all-mountain descents into the valley. The opening of this exciting piece of infrastructure nudges Dwellingup closer towards becoming a recognised trails town, supported by WA’s first purpose-built trails centre! ... 24.01.2022 Bindjareb Boodja Back to Pinjarra Day presented by Respect Yourself Respect Your Culture | Highlight Reel On the weekend, community members from across the region united on the banks of the Murray River to commemorate the 186-year anniversary of the Pinjarra Massacre. In recognition of one of the most notorious incidents in Aboriginal history, the annual event aims to create cultural awareness among community members and assist with the spiritual healing of the Bindjareb ...nation and first Australians. A community led and run initiative, the event operates under the guidance of Aboriginal event coordinators and this year was proudly supported by Healthway, Doral, Alcoa and the Shire of Murray. 23.01.2022 This week in Murray we opened our arms to 12 new Australian citizens! Although celebrations looked a little different due to COVID-19, we congratulate and welcome those who took part.



23.01.2022 Our community is fantastic October’s Anti-Poverty Week saw Murray residents, local schools and businesses rally to aid the district’s less fortunate, during our annual Murray Community Food Drive. An impressive three months worth of assistance was presented to the Pinjarra Community Kitchen this week, including several fresh food hampers donated by Spudshed Furnissdale.... 18.01.2022 WA’s first purpose-built trails centre is officially open and welcoming a keen influx of trails and adventure enthusiasts! The Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre is the place to go before and after hitting the adventure town’s mountain bike, walk, paddle, railway, four-wheel drive and horse trails. The Centre is equipped with bike wash area, hot showers and toilets, with a café, laundromat, trails retail and equipment hire and shuttle service to commence operation in the ne...xt few months following a recent expression of interest process. Local Dwellingup business Dwellingup Adventures, has been selected as the successful proponent to lease and operate the trails related commercial activities. The appointment is subject to a public advertising period and approval by the Minister for Lands. The Centre’s visitor servicing has been enhanced digitally with the incorporation of virtual reality and interactive screens as well as a destination magazine and new, dedicated tourism website set to launch next week. Through the project, the Hotham Valley Tourist Railway is now a central feature of Dwellingup’s tourism offering, as a key component of the Trails Centre precinct. Murray and the Dwellingup community are proud to be the first to deliver this key piece of infrastructure for Western Australian trail users. The Centre is open Monday to Sunday 9:00am to 4:00pm (closed Christmas Day) and is located in Marinup Street, Dwellingup. The Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre project was supported by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and Dwellingup Community Association Inc. with fit-out supported by Alcoa and the State Government’s Regional Economic Development Grants Program which is delivered by the Peel Development Commission. 15.01.2022 Carcoola Reserve is looking a whole lot greener after the Shire together with Greening Australia planted over 3,000 trees in the area! Undertaken during Plastic Free July, the planting exercise was used to trial four different biodegradable tree guards. Over the next two years we will assess the lifetime, ease of use and re-use of the guards, before choosing a preferred design for future plantings. Check out three of the trialed guards below

10.01.2022 Pinjarra’s iconic suspension bridge is receiving a facelift and we want to know what you think about the proposed design Built and designed by the 22nd Construction Regiment of the Australian Army in 1985, the bridge recently underwent a structural inspection which revealed the need for works on its: Substructure (towers and cables)... Superstructure (railings and decking) The refurbishment is being undertaken to: Increase the life of the bridge for a further 50 years Improve access by elevating the deck height to align with the town square Create opportunity to incorporate lighting into a future design The proposed design mimics the look and feel of the current bridge. _______________________________________ Have your say! 06.01.2022 Historic day today to see the official opening of the extension to the dementia wing at Pinjarra’s Bedingfeld Aged Care Facility, named Wallace House. Our legendary long serving former doctor Peter Wallace was in hand to officially open the building. A big congratulations to the hard working committee and showing incredible resilience and determination to complete this important asset to our community.

06.01.2022 Today saw the official opening of the RWWA racehorse welfare facility in North Dandalup. A facility that provides retirement services and emergency care for WA racehorses. The Shire of Murray is very proud to have this facility and further entrench the equine industry in our district..

The Precinct, made up of three bespoke facilities, is being developed in the Peel region to support Western Australia in building a robust and vibrant food and beverage manufacturing sector. 03.01.2022 Last weekend Dwellingup was abuzz with over 1,500 competitors flocking to take part in the 2020 Dwellingup 100 and Mighty Jarrah Run! Home to WA’s first purpose-built trails centre, the town’s trail offering is progressively being bolstered with new trails being rolled out across the Murray Valley Trail Network in Lane Poole Reserve, as well as other improvements underway on the reserve’s four-wheel drive, drive, walk and paddle trails.
