24.01.2022 SPOTLIGHT Hi everyone, Amy here! I just wanted to share with you, our fabulous gym family, a fundraiser that is very close to my own family. By sharing this, not only do I get to showcase my brother’s incredible craftsmanship (look at that piece!) but I also get to share with you a little bit of my own personal journey with the beast that is MND. I wanted to share this with you all as our little gym community is one BIG family to me. We all have our obstacles in life (yes... even the boss!) but our village supports us through the toughest of times and I know mine, without a doubt, will support me In late 2017, my Dad @brucejohnston was diagnosed with the terminal illness MND. Although we have been incredibly blessed, as his decline has not been as rapid as most, it certainly changed my family forever. The Beast as they call it is quite frankly hideous and downright unfair. But, being down and out just isn’t in the Johnston fabric and nothing makes me more proud than sharing this with you. A little nerve-racking on a personal level for sure! But proud nonetheless. My absolute legend of a brother @martin_johnston_ learnt his trade and his incredible skills all under the watchful eye of Dad. So, to see this project come together means more to me than the chance of winning a beautiful piece of furniture. It’s the culmination of a lifetime of patience, guidance, nurture and love. It’s a huge win not only for MND awareness but also for my Dad. I’m am so extremely proud of Marty, his family, my family, the lot! We also have a running joke in my family and I’m nicknamed The Golden Child Well, I’m here to say that MJ, I think you may have finally out goldened The Golden Child On another note, I also can’t actually afford any of my brother’s pieces so I’ll definitely be entering!
