20.01.2022 Show in front of world renowned judges without leaving home! The Shire Horse Breeders committee is delighted to announce we will be running a points based All A...ustralian Digital Heavy Horse Show!! The decision to do so is our way of supporting the heavy horse community so that exhibitors who intended to compete at large public events this season still have an opportunity to show off their horses! Weve lined up three prestigious international judges - Matthew Bedford (UK), Charlotte Young (UK) and Robert Detweiler (USA). With classes for registered Shires,Clydesdales & Percherons. Entries are now open and will close on 15th April 2020. Winners will be announced as quickly as possible, however it will take some time for the judges to be sent the entries and make their assessment. Entry Guidelines: Each class entry will be $10. Classes will have cash prizes for first, second and third place - $15, $10 & $5 respectively. All entries must be submitted with five photographs of the horse - front, back, both sides and trotting across the camera. The horse should be fully prepared and decorated as normal for the show ring. Novelty class: please submit one or two photos of your exhibit that best show it off. All photos must be current and taken in good light and clear surrounds to enable judges to see as much as they can without interference. Photos are to be submitted with entry forms via email to [email protected] or via PM to the Shire Horse Breeders Facebook page. Terms & Conditions: The entrant must own the horse or have the full permission of the owner of the horse to enter this competition. Photographs must be submitted by the entry deadline to be accepted for judging - no late entries will be allowed. All photographs must be current - the committee will accept show photos from the current show season where applicable, but encourages exhibitors to submit new photos captured in the entry timeline. If from a show, photographs should not contain any ribbons or rosettes. Photos may not be accepted if they are pixelated, blurry, in low resolution or otherwise difficult to assess. Where possible the committee will notify entrants in this case to give them a chance to resubmit. Any photos suspected of being altered from the original in any way will be disqualified (photoshop etc). Exhibits must be fully prepared and decorated as normal for the show ring for that breed. All exhibits must be registered with the relevant breed society. Entries will only be eligible for competition once payment is received by Shire Horse Breeders. The entrant grants the Shire Horse Breeders full permission to use the entry photographs in promotional materials. The committee reserves the right to disqualify any exhibitors/exhibits that do not meet the above terms and conditions.

13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended our Tasmanian training day on Saturday. We had a terrific day attended by dedicated Heavy Horse enthusiasts, stalwarts of the... Shire Horse breed in Bill and Margaret Lambert of Wyee Shires as well people new to the breed. Cai Thomas of Darkmoor Shires and Clydesdales engaged the attendees with a huge amount of relevant content on confirmation, show etiquette and ringcraft whilst Michelle Milnes held a superb hands on demonstration on show decoration for both Shires and Clydesdales. Several attendees tried their hands and plaiting manes and tail using the very sweet Dothan Stewardess as a model. After a fantastic BBQ lunch prepared by Rebecca from the Boat House Restaurant at Cornelian Bay, We headed to the farm of Lex Clark to view his amazing collection of horse drawn vehicles and agricultural equipment before finishing up with a well earned drink and meal at New Norfolk's Bush Inn - Australia's oldest continually licensed hotel on the banks of the Derwent River. Overall a great day See more
