25.01.2022 Popular wedding dates It seems hardly surprising that the most popular day to get married is Saturday, with 62% of marrying couples saying I do on a Saturday. 34% of surveyed couples say there was no single reason for their chosen wedding date. 22% said they chose by season, 16% chose according to significance to them, and 11% of couples chose their date according to venue availability.... The most popular season to marry is spring, with 37% of weddings occurring during that time of year. 26% hold their wedding in autumn, 19% in summer, and 18% in winter. The most popular month in which to marry is October, with 15% of Australian weddings occurring then. I am looking forward to all of my weddings in 2020 - some being chosen because of the date - others for no other reason than the appropriate time of the year. Congratulations to the couple who I am marrying on the 04/04/2020. I think that is a great date. My first wedding for 2020 is on the 12th January - bring it on, Michelle and Victor! Now, my question to you is, what date did you get married on and why did you choose that date?

25.01.2022 According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics: In 2018: there were 119,188 marriages in Australia, up 6,234 (5.5%) compared to 2017; ... the median age at marriage was 32.4 years for males and 30.5 years for females; 79.7% of males and 81.0% of females married for the first time; and four out of five (79.7%) marriages were performed by a civil celebrant. What year did you get married? How old were you? Where did you get married - church or other place with a celebrant?

25.01.2022 Engagements 9% of all engagements happen between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. Other popular dates include Valentine’s Day (unsurprisingly), and February 29 which only occurs every four years. According to those surveyed, the average cost of an engagement ring is $5,300, and 65% of engagement rings are chosen without the other partner’s input. 27% of couples decide on an engagement ring together, and 8% of engagements are created without a ring at all.... Do you have a story to tell about your engagement?

25.01.2022 Happy first wedding anniversary, Justin and Emily.

23.01.2022 What an interesting idea: Instead of expensive, and sometimes useless gifts for guests, why not create a zip lock bag of goodies, eg. the favourite sweets/lollies of the bride and groom. You can stick to the colour scheme of the wedding. On the front of the bag, put a photo of the bride and groom (this can be either serious or comical, or a mixture of both) and on the back print out a fun fact about the bride and groom that you think someone may not know about them. Here a...re some suggestions: Ryan hates to fly over water but they are honeymooning in the Bahamas anyways. Jess taught Ryan how to hard boil eggs. They now have hard boiled eggs in the fridge at all times. When Ryan proposed, Jess cried and he thought she was going to say no. Together, Jess and Ryan go through about 16 pairs of running shoes a year. When Jess and Ryan met, Jess thought Ryan was older, like 30s. Today Ryan is only 28 Jess has no middle name. Ryan’s is Jeffrey. After his uncle. What interesting fact would you include for your Partner?

23.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW: The most popular day to get married is Saturday, with 62% of marrying couples saying I do on a Saturday. 34% of surveyed couples say there was no single reason for their chosen wedding date. 22% said they chose by season, 16% chose according to significance to them, and 11% of couples chose their date according to venue availability.... The most popular month in which to marry is October, with 15% of Australian weddings occurring then. Which is certainly true for me this year, as I have three weddings coming up next month. Today I leave you with a photo of our three lovely daughters, two who have taken the big step of marriage, and the other one is engaged and I look forward to that exciting day! Have a good day everyone!

22.01.2022 WEDDING TRADITION #7. Having a Wedding Unity Bowl This heart-warming tradition has been passed down for many generations. Family members and close friends put stones in a bowl, and this represents their support for the couple’s union. The stones have the names of whoever has put them in the bowl, and they can also have different colours to represent the different families.... I had never heard of this tradition, had you?

20.01.2022 PRE-WEDDING EVENTS TIMELINE GUIDE We all know that a wedding is a pretty big deal. The events leading to it are just as important. They set the tone for the wedding and give you the chance to spend some time with friends and loved ones. As the wedding date gets closer, you will have many events hosted in your honour. These are usually not stressful for the couple as they are planned and hosted by family members or friends. Over the next few days, I will outline for you what ...these events involve. TODAY'S EVENT: 1. The Bridal Shower This is usually the first pre-wedding event it can be held as far as 4 months before the wedding. The bridal shower is hosted by the maid of honour or the whole bridal team. Most times it is a surprise for the bride. Some families choose to host a shower instead and this is okay as well. The bride’s close friends, as well as female relatives from both the bride and groom’s side, are invited. These days a bride can have as many as three bridal showers, so it is okay if some people get left out the first time round. Did you have a bridal shower?

14.01.2022 Did you know: The average wedding budget estimation begins at $20,913 excluding the honeymoon. During wedding planning, the average cost couples believe they will pay is $24,932. The final average wedding cost in total is $30,985. WOW! That is a lot of money in these hard times. What year did you get married and how much did it cost?

14.01.2022 Hello everyone. It has been some time since I've placed a post on my Facebook page - lots has been happening - COVID, ill-health, house building, new granddaughter - but hopefully life is settling down to a norm now and I can concentrate on building my little Wedding Business. A number of weddings are coming up in October, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my couples all the very best for their forthcoming big day: Mandy and Daniel, Ash and Sam, Bobby... and Brad. To all my other couples who have booked for the coming twelve months, I look forward to working with you to make your wedding a memorable occasion. I hope to share regular posts with you about "fun facts" about weddings in the future, so stay tuned. On a final note, just had to share this photo of my three precious grandchildren.

12.01.2022 WEDDING TRADITION #5. The Wedding Smoking Ceremony It is well known that aborigines and settlers shared the land for a long time. This tradition is a miscegenation of their two cultures. The couple gets fanned with the smoke of burning plants or herbs. This was supposed to ward off ill spirits and bring healing and blessing to the relationship.

09.01.2022 Thank you Pozzy Marketing for my new website. Please feel free to check it out. https://shirleyhampson.com.au/

08.01.2022 PRE-WEDDING EVENT #2. The Bridesmaids’ Luncheon A bridesmaid’s luncheon is hosted by the bride for her wedding party. This is a chance for her to thank her bridesmaids for being part of the wedding and for any help they give her during the wedding preparations. Some brides give gifts to the attendants. Pre-wedding schedules can get quite busy and you may not get another chance to thank your bridesmaids. Use this opportunity to appreciate your bridal party.... What did you do for your bridal party? I bought my attendants jewellery that they could wear on the big day.

07.01.2022 Happy first wedding anniversary, Jo and Grant. This day seems like only yesterday. Have a great day and may there be many more anniversaries to celebrate. Congratulations!

06.01.2022 WEDDING TRADITION #6. Lamingtons Instead of Wedding Cake We all love wedding dessert and for many European cultures, traditional wedding cake takes pride of place. Australian wedding receptions have a tradition of having lamingtons. This is a traditional vanilla cake that is cut into squares, covered in chocolate, and then sprinkled with coconut flakes.... What did you have for your wedding cake? We had the traditional fruit cake for our wedding.

01.01.2022 PETS AND THE WEDDING DAY Did you know that 62% of Australian households own pets? It makes sense why many people look for ways to include pets in their wedding day. There are some things to consider before you can be sure that your pet is part of your wedding day. This should not stop you though as it is very possible with adequate planning. We have put a list of 5 perfect ways to have a pet-friendly wedding. 1. Pet Inspired Wedding Invites... This is a fun way to involve your pet in your wedding festivities. Why not have your pet involved in the planning process? It is not always possible to have your pet on the actual wedding day, so this is a great alternative. Speak to a professional photographer and have them take a few beautiful pictures of your pet that you can use for your invitations or save the dates. 2. Let Your Pet Attend There are many ways to have pets at weddings. You can have your pet as your ring bearer or have your pet in your wedding photos. To successfully pull this off there are a few things to consider. Look for pet-friendly wedding venues. Ask yourself if your pet behaves well in new places or with a crowd of people. Find someone to take care of your pet on the day. 3. Decorate with Pet Photos If your wedding venue won’t allow you to have your pet come along or you cannot find a good pet sitter for the day, including your pet in your wedding decorations. If your pet has been a big part of your love story you can show this in a cute display that has pictures of your furry friend. Free-standing frames with pet pictures displayed around the venue are also a big hit. 4. Pet Inspired Wedding Cakes This is a tasty way to have pets at weddings. There are many pet inspired cake toppers you can use as a cute way to have your pet in your wedding day. Some bakers are able to paint wedding cakes with water colour paint, why not have them paint your pet. If you want to take it a step further, have your wedding cake made in the likeness of your pet. 5. Include Your Pet in the Registry The wedding registry is a good way for couples to get things that they will use in their future home. You can include specific gifts for your pet in the wedding registry. Some couples have asked their wedding guests to make a donation in their name to pet charities such as the RSPCA so that they can help other pets as well. Did you have your pet at your wedding?

01.01.2022 Happy First Wedding Anniversary, Kyrah and Ewan. What a wonderful day that was. It only seems like yesterday. May there be many more happy years ahead!

01.01.2022 New Regulations due to COVID-19 It has now been regulated that weddings may go ahead with only five(5) people in attendance - the couple, their two witnesses and the celebrant. This is certainly becoming a very difficult time for everyone, but one which is for the health benefit of everyone involved. I have been and will continue to be in touch with my couples, working through what suits you best for your special day. Everyone is in my thoughts at this very difficult time. Kind regards and keep yourself healthy, Shirley Hampson
