19.01.2022 We had an awesome day today training with Philip Hinshelwood Sensei, from Yagu Shingan Ryu at the Dojo of Scott Bannister. A great session from Hinshelwood Sensei on the authentic Jujutsu style of Yagu Shingan Ryu that also included an inspiring instruction on Kobudo (Bo & Jo) This was followed by a training session of Judo at the Dojo of Stewart Brain, an Olympic Judoka, who took us through some great ne waza training.... An amazing day to finish off the year of martial arts training with Renshi Tony, Sensei Peter, Sensei Hannah and Cassie Warren sharing the fruits of learning today. A special thank you to Hinshelwood Sensei for his enlightening instruction, to Scott Bannister Sensei for his assistance and being able to train in his newly opened Ransom Dojo and to Stewart Brain Sensei for his teaching and for training in his Dojo.

19.01.2022 Students from Shishikan travelled to Bribie Island for the June training clinic joining up with other members from Murgon and Bribie. Mark Slingo, Peter Warren, Raymond Ho, Dean Thomas, Terry Allen, Ellie Swiatek, Melissa Dunlop, Kan Chan, Angelina Gambling, Maycie Warren and Ashleigh Warren joined Renshi Tony Fletcher in the trek to Bribie for the 2nd day clinic for 2019. Awesome to get together yet again and learn some new things and refresh memories. It was great to re-vis...it kata Ananku again after learning this version from Hanshi Myron Lubitsch at our National Camp. Thank you everyone, you not only shined for Shishikan but you made me proud of your conduct, attitude and enthusiasm. A special mention to our little troopers, Maycie, Angelina and Ashleigh for performing so well all day.

16.01.2022 We congratulate Sensei Peter Warren who was presented with his Hakama by Renshi Tony Fletcher. This presentation was made in recognition of the tireless support Sensei Peter has given Renshi Tony as Assistant Instructor.

15.01.2022 Great day on Sunday with members of the Shishikan dojo attending the Koshinkai training clinic at Bribie Island. Met some new members up there and had a great day doing weapons training. Sensei Mark Slingo took the group through a Bo warmup session before Renshi Tony assisted Kyoshi Jim taking the Sai Bo Randori lesson. One more Koshinkai training clinic to be done before the end of the year.

13.01.2022 Awesome training session tonight. Good kick off with Sensei Peter taking warmup and kihon waza. Then we had a focus mitt/pad session with Sensei Dean and Sempai Ellie showing us some of the pad work from their cross training they have been doing. Great session with partnering off and working on the drills with Renshi Tony highlighting areas of technique, stances, ashi and tai sabaki, distance and timing. Well done all, just great.

06.01.2022 Great night at training tonight. After a warm up by Melissa Dunlop the class did Kihon waza with Mel and Ellie Swiatek sharing taking the basics for the group. We moved into a good session of bunkai with the groups splitting off under a Yudansha and was then followed by demonstrations. The night finished with Renshi Tony taking the class for a lesson with the Tanbo... Great night everyone, you did well on a rather hot night with high humidity.

02.01.2022 Shishikan held their end of year BBQ tonight after a fun filled games evening organised by Sensei Peter and Sensei Hannah. Was great to have everyone in a relaxed environment, enjoying each others company and remembering the awesome year we had. I can tell you Im not fast enough in playing dodge ball cause I didnt dodge many of those balls being thrown at me. Lucky I only played half a game.... As the Instructor to a great group of people, I can honestly say I enjoy teaching them as much as I enjoy learning from them. Im proud of every one of my students. My thanks to the assistant instructors, Sensei Mark Slingo 4th Dan and Sensei Peter Warren 3rd Dan for their unwavering support and to the other Yudansha and senior Mudansha who have help with classes during the year. Finally, thanks goes to Mark for providing the BBQ gear and being the chef and Beth for helping to get all the food together and setting up for the evening which topped off with an awesome cake supplied by our own Kan Chan. The evening finished with some speeches and a presentation to me from Mark Slingo with a framed picture of The Seven Virtues of Bushido. A treasured item indeed. Thank you all. Renshi Tony
