24.01.2022 Q: What exactly is a spiritual mantra? Baba: Mantra is the supreme Lord Himself, the supreme principle. Q: Is mantra a vibration? Baba Muktananda: It is energy,... or Shakti. When we repeat a mantra for a con siderable length of time , we accumulate energy, which in turn makes the mantra more and more powerful. When this mantra is transmitted to someone else, it usually creates an immediate effect on the person who receives it because of its accumulated power. When we dwell constantly on any thought, eventually our entire being will become per meated with that thought, and mantra is the most potent kind of thought. See more

22.01.2022 Question: Why is it that one day I am happy and the next depressed? Swamiji: It is the nature of the mind to fluctuate. It is unstable. It ta...kes the form of innumerable thoughts minute by minute. It is not surprising that it moves from mood to mood. Underlying these differing moods are unformed thoughts. These thoughts are so subtle we can call them unconscious. If you bring them to consciousness by means of Self-inquiry, your mind will become more stable. To make the mind steady it has to become established in the Awakened Self. Do not recoil from less than ideal states of mind. You can regard negative states as an opportunity to study that particular state. For example, if you feel depressed say to yourself: Ah, now I have an opportunity to study depression from inside. How intriguing! The more intimately you know and understand the various mind states you experience, the more wisdom you will have, and the greater will be your capacity to shift out of them. #happyfornogoodreason #swamishankarananda #meditation #meditate #selfinquiry #guidedmeditation #melbournemeditation #meditationmelbourne #melbourneyoga #freemeditation #sadhana #yoga #yogi #meditateeveryday #mounteliza #happy #themind #Mindfulness #mantra #japa #omnamahshivaya #mentalhealth #emotions #kashmirshaivism #learntomeditate #meditateonline #yogaphilosophy #jnana #dharana #ashram See more

22.01.2022 ‘The comprehensive Shaivite meditation is to find the bliss of the world. The world is complex and hidden in it are kernels of light, of divinity. We can be lik...e the crow and ignore what is joyous and find the negative. Or we can be like the swan. In India the swan symbolises discrimination. It is said that if you were to throw milk into a pond, the swan could find the milk and leave the water. It has the ability to extract what is truly valuable.’ ~ Swami Shankarananda

21.01.2022 Question: Do you have to believe in God in order to meditate? Swamiji: Meditation is not about beliefs. Meditation transcends the world... of belief. It goes beyond the world of the mind. Meditation is about what is. This reminds me of a story. Once Mulla Nasruddin was ill and thought he was dying. He began to call out: Oh God! O Satan! Oh God! Oh Satan! After a while a friend who was attending him asked: Nasruddin, I could understand if you called out ‘Oh God! Oh God!’ I could even understand if you called out ‘Oh Satan! Oh Satan!’ But I cannot understand why you are calling out to both! My friend, whispered Nasruddin, I am covering all of the possibilities. So God or no God exist in the realm of duality, the realm of the mind. The realm of deep meditation is beyond that. All contradictions are resolved there. If you are asking me personally, I have a constant experience of God as my inner Self. That same One lives within you also. He craves your attention, not your belief. Sleep works no matter what you believe about it, and so does meditation. However, it is hard to believe that you would continue to meditate if you did not have faith that the universe is meaningful, that there is a higher purpose and a higher power. #happyfornogoodreason #swamishankarananda #meditation #meditate #selfinquiry #guidedmeditation #melbournemeditation #meditationmelbourne #melbourneyoga #freemeditation #sadhana #yoga #yogi #meditateeveryday #mounteliza #happy #themind #Mindfulness #mantra #japa #omnamahshivaya #mentalhealth #emotions #kashmirshaivism #learntomeditate #meditateonline #yogaphilosophy #jnana #dharana #ashram See more

19.01.2022 'When Shri Guru sows the seed of shaktipat in the field of the heart, it sprouts into a plant, a tree, or a creeper and bears full fruit. The seed of the Guru's... shakti enters one very subtly and, by awakening one's inner shakti, automatically gives rise to inner yoga. It does extensive work in one's body, reveals infinite miracles, and gives one a new life. Shaktipat is true life. It is rejuvenation.' Baba Muktananda The second evening program with Swamiji is streaming live tonight from 7:30pm AEDT. You can still register for the retreat now and watch last night's program on-demand. 18.01.2022 ‘Sleep consciously; not the gross sleep of the beast, but the sleep of man, the spiritual sleep, when talking, when sitting, without thoughts, without desires, ... without ideas. Fix your attention on the breath, listen to the mantra (sacred sound) of the inward and outward breath. Do this with bhakti, constant uninterrupted devotion, and attain liberation.’ - Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri See more

16.01.2022 EARLY DAYS IN GANESHPURI As word spread of Nityananda Bhagwan's arrival, villagers from surrounding areas began gathering around his hut in the evenings. A larg...e pot of rice porridge, of which the Master would partake, always stood ready for them. Devotees were soon flocking to Ganeshpuri as well. To accomodate them, a building was constructed east of the hot spring tanks. At first, due to a lack of potable water, visitors only stayed the day. However, once the old well was refurbished, sulfur water was used for everything. One particularly hot afternoon the Master offered a plate of rice with spicy pickle sauce to a visiting devotee. It so happened that the woman foudn sulfur water distasteful and declined the food, knowing that she would crave something to drink afterward. Nityananda Bhagwan again held out the plate to her, saying, "Don't be concerned. You will drink rain water." Venturing a look at the blue sky, she still ate nothing. Within minutes, however,a solitary cloud appeared overhead and rain poured down. The Master said, "Go and get your water," and she jumped up and collected rain water for both of them. Devotees gathered late one evening on the west side of the ashram. Here Nityananda Bhagwan sat on a small ledge bordering a six-foot drop into the darkening fields behind him. Silence prevailed. Suddenly in the distance a pair of bright eyes appeared and, weaving its way slowly through the fields, a tiger came up to the ledge and stopped. The animal then rose lightly on its haunches and rested its forepaws on Nityananda Bhagwan’s shoulders. Calmly the Master reached up with his right hand and stroked the tiger’s head. Satisfied, the tiger jumped back down and disappeared into the night. Later Nityananda Bhagwan observed that as the vehicles of the Goddess Vajreshwari, tigers should be expected around her temple. He also said that wild beasts behave like lambs in the presence of enlightened beings. Many stories tell of his uncanny ability to understand animals. In Udipi once he told its captors to release a certain caged bird because it constantly cursed them. Another time he reassured a frightened devotee that a nearby cobra was too busy chanting to harm anybody. Others remember a devotee who always came for darshan accompanied by his pet parrot. And in May 1944, Captain Hatengdi heard Nityananda Bhagwan say that a bird told him that it would rain in three days, and rain it did. See more

13.01.2022 One of the fundamental spiritual ideas often used by Swamiji and Devi Ma @the.ashram is Gurdjieff's concept of the Three Forces. 'Gurdjieff ...said there are three forces in play in all situations. First force is desire, ‘I want something’. As soon as there is a desire or an aspiration, all the obstacles to realising it emerge. So second force is the block, the resistance of the material world. Now we have a tense situation, the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. It is gridlock. A third force is necessary to make movement possible. This third force, the enabling force, can be provided by insight, skill, intelligence, money: whatever enables something to happen. Third force is a form of grace. If you understand the three forces subtly, they are all about the relationship between Consciousness and matter. Consciousness has desires, aspirations and imagination. Matter just lies there, inert. It doesn’t want anything, it resists everything because it is sheer inertia. But spirit can move matter if it finds the right tools or the right method. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that yoga is ‘skill in action’. Therefore, any successful undertaking uses some sort of yoga, since it is a skillful application that attains an end.' - Swami Shankarananda Do you feel clear in your First Force? What do you truly desire? Please note: Guruji’s New Year’s message satsang is now January 9th, NOT the 2nd. 13.01.2022 'Sadhana is not for robots. Surrender is necessary, obedience is necessary. There is no doubt about it. But, also, real insight has to be cultivated. The real d...iscipline is not outer like in the army or in grade school. It is inner. The outer discipline is only a pathway to the inner. One who observes the inner discipline is already in touch with the Self. It is the inner discipline that tells the seeker what the divine will is. It has to be approached and observed freshly every moment. There are no formulas to understand it. Even though the outer discipline may remain the same every day, the inner discipline is ever-shifting.' - Swami Shankarananda, Questions and Answers See more

06.01.2022 Questioner: Is it true that spiritual advancement depends on one's good and bad karma? Baba Muktananda: When you experience the inner Self, or God, your bad kar...ma is automatically destroyed. All you need to do is strive earnestly to experience the inner Self. Don't worry about good or bad karma. It's wrong to think that only after all your karma is exhausted will you experience the Self. It's really the other way around: when you experi ence the Self, all your karma is burned up. It's delusion to think that when darkness leaves, the sun comes. What actually happens is that ftrst the sun appears and then darkness leaves . When the inner Self is seen, when the inner Self is experienced, all doubts are torn away, the knot in the heart is untied, and all karma is destroyed. See more

04.01.2022 Jai Gurudev! Celebrating Babaji's Divya Diksha August 15 (India's Independence Day). "Siddha Yoga is nothing but the teachings that have been passed down by S...iddhas from older generations to newer generations in an unbroken lineage. A Siddha is one who has attained the supreme Truth. One who is worthy attains union with the supreme Truth; that is why this is called yoga or merging. It is the union with God of one who had formerly been separated from God. Within the center of every person dwells a divine Shakti. Once this Kundalini Shakti is awakened and reaches the crown of the head, you attain God. There is something quite remarkable about such beings. An entire inner world exists within them, which is different from this outer world. The outer world is not worth even ten pennies compared with the inner world. For one who has not seen the inner world, the outer world is beautiful and fascinating, but for one who has seen the inner world, the outer world is nothing but darkness. If a person looks at this world with ordinary human eyes, he is greatly mistaken. If he looks at it with a feeling of diversity, separateness, and individuality, he will live in constant fear and will ultimately die in fear. As Shankaracharya said, he will die and take birth again and again. But a person can easily get beyond the cycle of birth and death once the inner Shakti is awakened." Baba Muktananda "In The Company Of A Siddha"
