25.01.2022 Tonight we met with WSC Sport and Rec Committee, via Zoom, to go over the advantages of including the Indoor Sports Centre in the Lackey Park Hub as proposed in our submission re Lackey Park Masterplan. A long list of advantages were voiced. Hopefully we see the inclusion and prompt action. The indoor centre could turn a sod for the next election cycle?

24.01.2022 Just a reminder, this is a MULTIPURPOSE Indoor Sports Centre and has been designed to specifications to suit Indoor Hockey, Netball, Futsal, Volleyball, Handball,Gymnastics, Cricket and of course Basketball. Corporate Function Centre with Bar and AV training facilities, multipurpose rooms, office space for sporting bodies and Cafe, we are discussing requirements to act as an Emergency Evacuation Centre. What a great community asset. See Flythrough https://www.dropbox.com//191031%20Moss%20Vale%20Basketball

18.01.2022 We have met with Wingecarribee Shire Council Acting GM and staff. Our project has stalled for lack of funds to get to shovel ready. We are seeking a grant from WSC to continue preparations and will work collaboratively with Lackey Park Project.

16.01.2022 This week we submitted an optional plan to Wingecarribee Shire Council that saw the inclusion of our Multipurpose Indoor Sports Stadium on the Lackey Park grounds. A lot of work went into the submission and particular thanks to Peter Mitchell and Stephen FitzGerald of SFDrafting. Lots more work to do fighting the good fight. More details to come.

14.01.2022 AS the End of Financial Year approaches Southern Highlands Indoor Sports Hub have started a fund raising campaign on Australian Sports Foundation WEB site ASF.org.au. 12.01.2022 Reminder - submissions close today Here’s another example of a submission that can be used. I have reviewed the Draft Operational Plan 2020/21 and associated documents presented by council and I am pleased that council is focused on community wellbeing. I, having been heavily involved in sport my whole life, am pleased that there is a focus on sports and recreational facilities for the community which is such a critical part of health and well-being and vital for the youth ...of our community. In my opinion, a progressive council would be active in promoting healthy lifestyle choices by the provision of quality facilities and would reap many rewards including increased tourism, economics and decreased crime in its community, to name just a few. However, I am saddened to see in the budget and proposed activities for the year ahead, the Southern Highlands Indoor Sport Hub (SHISB) not given any attention in the proposed programs and projects. It is frustrating to see a local volunteer organisation spend so much time and energy on a project that would reap enormous benefit to the community and be a significant asset to the area. The Sports Hub would be multipurpose and make the highlands a destination for many high-profile events that can only add to the future of the highlands in a positive way. A lot of the hard work in reviewing this project has been done by many hard-working volunteers but now it is time for our council to step in and take the plans to fruition for the benefit of our community. I am excited about the potential our community has and the benefits that we can give our children through a healthy active life by providing these kinds of assets. The dedicated group of volunteers have done the work and even come up with a funding solution so I implore council to please give this worthy project its much due attention and we will reap the rewards for generations to come.

12.01.2022 Thursday March 19 we met with Wingecarribee Sport and Recreation Committee. Our aim was to present where we are with our Indoor Sports Centre project, build on their support in the project and encourage the committee to include a purpose built Indoor Cricket and Gymnastics centre as part of the Lackey Park sporting hub to further enhance the project and provide for the Southern Highlands community. Alas we couldn't secure a commitment to an additional centre but the committee is considering including a space for Gymnastics in the proposed Lackey Park grandstand. Great news and thank you for your support.

08.01.2022 We greatfully acknowledge that Wingecarribee Shire Council have agreed to join forces with Moss Vale and District Basketball and jointly progress the Southern Highlands Indoor Sports Hub and the Lackey Park Sports Hub to DA status, targetting mid 2021. Great news for the community.

03.01.2022 The Southern Highlands lose $275,000. The Southern Highlands Indoor Sports Hub. I do not know how many people have been following the story of the proposed Indoor sports Hub proposed for Moss Vale. A small group of people from Moss Vale and District Basketball Association started a journey over 15 years ago to establish a community based multipurpose indoor sports facility in Moss Vale. We have plans, vision statements, feasibility and financial studies, Geotech reports and M...oss Vale and District Basketball Association have committed over $60,000 in members funds and the Association has earmarked their land for the project. 02.01.2022 It was only a few weeks ago we were asking our supporters to make a submission to Wingecarribee Shire Council to have our project included in the Operational plan and over 30 people responded, unsuccessfully, NOW we are asking for your support again and make a submission for our inclusion in the Lackey Park Sporting Hub. If you go to Wingecarribee Shire Council WEB site and view the Masterplan the glaring omission in a true sporting hub is an INDOOR SPORTS CENTRE. Time to get with the program!PLEASE make a submission today.
