10.05.2022 Some photos from a walk that actually went ahead recently despite all the lousy roads and terrible weather we have been experiencing!

15.04.2022 An absolutely perfect day for the off trackers to be out and about. One of the few walks we haven’t had to cancel or change recently but we did need a trusty old land cruiser to get us there without dramas

13.04.2022 Carmen led us on a great walk through bushland close to home. Recent rain made tracks very wet. About 9km of excellent weather.

25.01.2022 Dennis leads On trackers off track. 20 people about 10km. Mud bricks, views over Shoalhaven River and some rock scrambling. Brilliant almost Spring day

25.01.2022 Tony and Bev lead a walk around the heads on Wednesday, Including International airport and native gardens. The current across the heads made walking to the island impossible. A lot of sand erosion.

25.01.2022 Walking around the wetlands and Bay with Yolande on Wednesday. 7 walkers. Around 10 km. Great morning at a quick pace

24.01.2022 Fourteen off-trackers, led by John & Gill, did a terrific walk last Wednesday in Jerrawangla NP. It was a hard walk with some narrow fissures and crawl-spaces to negotiate, but all made it through safely including the OBEs and the Hip Replacements. An unburnt ravine full of ferns that we called The Hanging Gardens made it worthwhile. To tell the truth, just being out there in this crazy year made it worthwhile.

23.01.2022 We had a very interesting walk last Wednesday, but unfortunately we cant show all of the photos. Heres a selection of the ones that we can show ...

23.01.2022 We just got Saturdays Tianjara area walk in before the "weatherbomb" hit. Exploring the ravines makes you feel like youre in a Indiana Jones movie. On the weekends, wherever there is a big rock wall you will find someone climbing. Great views from rocky outcrops, especially where we had lunch, and more signs of post fire recovery.

23.01.2022 The June program commenced today with Fae and Paul leading a 13 kilometre walk in the Worrigee Nature Reserve. They had more than 10 people so had to split into two completely separate groups, but a good time was had by all in the perfect (cool and sunny) conditions.

22.01.2022 Watch out for our shorebirds while we are walking the beaches over summer ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPd4NJqXU1E&feature=youtu.be

21.01.2022 The Covid limit of 20 people on a spectacular walk west of Nowra last Wednesday ...

21.01.2022 We have donated to the bats via WIRES for the past two years. They are essential for the survival of eucalypt forest - the bush we walk through - especially now after the fires ...

20.01.2022 17th June Tony W led a walk that went from Bridge Road in Nowra, to Greys Beach behind the Golf Course and then into the magical kingdom called "The Grotto.

20.01.2022 Davids interpretation of the history and geology of our walk on Wednesday 17 June had some of us wondering...(13 of us!)(walking to NZ, dinosaur fossils, cormorant eyes ) A few showers didnt stop us, so after a quick fire pit stop at Werri, we headed around the rock platforms to Boat Harbour for monring tea. Then over more rock platforms to the south, up and over the hill towards the Mighty Gulch. We returned to Boat Harbour for lunch and then had a whale viewing appointment at 2pm. Well done David.

19.01.2022 At last we can walk together! All ten in a group! Thank you Sandra for leading the walk from Coonamia Road to Lake Wollumboola. On the way we met three paper wasp nests, one black snake and three kangaroos!

18.01.2022 Peter Farrell led a terrific walk out of Kangaroo Valley yesterday. Here are some photos.

18.01.2022 Some photos below from the walk yesterday (Sunday) ...

18.01.2022 Below are a few photos from just another average creek walk last Wednesday somewhere in the Shoalhaven ...

18.01.2022 A message to Shoalhaven Bushwalkers re Winter Program from the President The Committee has decided to wait until the government announce the latest social restriction rules on Monday May 11 before considering if we can have a program of some sort in Winter. If we can have smaller groups we will look at programming month by month and consider what other changes we need to make to satisfy the rules. I imagine you are all trying to keep up your fitness in one way or another in readiness for walking again. Be patient and sign up to the Covid Safe app so the restrictions may be relaxed sooner rather than later. Keep well, Karen Davis

18.01.2022 Another excellent weekend walk done on June 20th, adjacent to the walk done the previous Wednesday, with an extremely narrow pass down through the cliffline.

17.01.2022 Sunrise, just out of Braidwood, yesterday morning. Dont think Ive seen a better rainbow.

17.01.2022 The off-track walk last Wednesday went to Calf Creek (not its real name) - yet another totally burnt area that is slowly recovering ...

16.01.2022 Apologies to those who signed up for Carrington Falls top to bottom - cancelled this morning due to rain overnight and the planned 4 crossings of the Kangaroo River being untenable. Safety first. Please enjoy photos taken there this morning as the sky cleared and the sun came out!

16.01.2022 Beautiful day for a walk. About 10kms. Vegetation resprouting after the fires and the rain. Great views. Thanks Tony.

16.01.2022 Happy faces walking together again. Christa W led a loop walk around Nowra Hanging Rock, Shoalhaven River Etc. Tony W was Sous-Chef. Everyone was smiling and laughing all the way. That is one of the things that is so great about the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers club, everyone is so friendly.

15.01.2022 Some photos of new metal boardwalks being constructed on the Rusden Head track ... photos courtesy of Jane Zappas (thanks!)

15.01.2022 Some shots of Johns All Day Breakfast walk on 17th June ...

14.01.2022 What a magical walk plus a group of very friendly people!

12.01.2022 The Club will start programming again for the Winter Program with the first walk on Wednesday June 3rd. We will only program for the 4 weeks in June for starters with the usual 4 walks (1 Andante, 2 On-track, 1 Hybrid Off-track) assuming leaders can be found. Potential new members should email our secretary for the walks program - [email protected] Guidelines and points to note:...Continue reading

12.01.2022 Today is a landmark day for Shoalhaven Bushwalkers with our longest serving President standing down last night after 8 years. She will long be remembered for teaching us how to cross creeks on logs ... here is method #2

12.01.2022 Nowra Players have started up again - the theatre will be Covid safe - with "Letters to Lindy" on March 19th, 2021. More details at http://www.shoalhavenbushwalkers.org.au/theatre.html

11.01.2022 Sandy led an on-track walk today following parts of a well-known walk in the southern Illawarra. Great views along the way both north and south. Some wildlife, and a history lesson to cap off a great walk.

11.01.2022 Some photos from yesterdays combined walk with members of the South Coast Bushwalking Club in the Tianjara area.

11.01.2022 Wednesdays off-track walk took us to Daphnes Overhang, probably the longest overhang in the Shoalhaven. There were lots of ephemeral waterfalls falling off the cliffs after the recent rain. For more photos go to https://www.flickr.com//162547825/albums/72157715301090052

10.01.2022 Dave H led his first walk today, in Kangaroo Valley, with grinding grooves, rural scenery, a hefty climb, excellent rock formations and great views - so it was a real success! And a visit to the Friendly Inn on the way back home didn't hurt either!

10.01.2022 Karen led a group of 12 Shoalhaven Bushwalkers on an exploratory walk quite close to Nowra yesterday. The cliffline was pretty impressive, and the emerging cicadas were amazing!

09.01.2022 "Mums Who Hike Shoalhaven / Illawarra" might not be a group that any of our members could really qualify for, but perhaps our children (or grand children or great grand children) might like to check them out!

08.01.2022 Free car passes for Booderee! Park entry fees for Booderee (and Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta) National Park have been waived between 16 March and 31 December 2020. 08.01.2022 Great walk led by our President yesterday from Mollymook to Burrill Lake, with excellent birds, seals and surfers, but unfortunately no whales ...

07.01.2022 If bats were eradicated from Australia today, within 300 years there would be no eucalypt forests left on the continent, and Shoalhaven Bushwalkers would have to change their name and become Shoalhaven Walkers ...

06.01.2022 Yolande lead 7 walkers, on 10 June, from Vincentia Golf club down through winter flowering heath to Hyams Beach and return. There was plenty of bird life. Sea eagles were calling, as were many other birds. It is so special to welcome new members on our walks and share this experience. On to Greenfields Beach for lunch, then back up the hill, slowly, to the cars.

06.01.2022 Some of our members have been contemplating a new career path as Chimney Sweepers

05.01.2022 If you think that feral horses belong in Kosciuszko National Park, you don't have to do anything with the link below. But if you believe that the horses should be controlled because the science shows habitat degradation by feral horses is driving 34 species of native plants and wildlife closer to extinction, feel free to follow the link below and sign the petition to protect the national park.

03.01.2022 Latest Walking Guidelines (from June 13th) * groups of no more than 20 * ring leader to book your place * give leader phone and emergency contact numbers * leaders fill in Risk Waiver Form... * meet leader at the start of walk * adhere to COVID19 health guidelines See more

03.01.2022 A few photos from last Saturdays exploratory hike from Wonga Falls to Cooks Nose, Barren Grounds Nature Reserve.

03.01.2022 Rick O led an On-Track walk in the Hyams Beach area. The perfect weather was complemented by the wildflowers and flowing creeks. A bit of off-track showed the group was up for any challenge. We reached the white sand beach for lunch.

03.01.2022 The Wednesday End-of-Year Party was held at Green Patch yesterday with about 70 people in attendance (!) - many of whom competed in the excellent pre-lunch Cannonball Run run by Peter and Robyn Farrell beforehand. Their hard work in organizing the run was appreciated by all the competitors! Many teams did not read all of the instructions, one of which specified a 2 hours and 15 minute time limit with the loss of a point a minute afterwards. Always read the fine print! The food was excellent, the weather was kind, the wildlife was not too pesky and it was good to catch up with old friends after a year of restricted walking due to Covid. Have a great Summer break!

02.01.2022 A classic Shoalhaven Bushwalk which was more difficult in some sections post fires but easier in others. Views and the amazing rocks were enjoyed by all

01.01.2022 Bushwalking exploratory at its best: some more great photos from last weekend. Thanks to David.
