24.01.2022 Our Sydney school are offering free online classes in the morning once a week until August.

24.01.2022 It's going to be hot, but it will still be fun.

23.01.2022 Choy Lee Fut training in Mexico

23.01.2022 Each time we come to and leave the school's training hall, we bow in respect to our founder, Chan Heung Gung and his direct bloodline descendants and the grandm...asters, Chan Koon Bak, Chan Yiu Chi and Chan Wan Hon. But have you noticed the framed Chinese calligraphy hanging on the wall underneath the photos and wondered of their origin and meaning? The story of the center piece: Chan Heung Gung, while training under the Shaolin monk Choy Fook Sim Si for 12 years was schooled in all the treasures of Shaolin. These included practicing Chan Buddhism, Traditional Chinese medicine and herbs, astrology and divination, Chinese Buddhist philosophy, Lohan Qigong and the famous Shaolin Kung Fu practice. While living in the Mountains of Law Fo Sarn, Chan Heung was also further exposed to great Taoist philosophy as Law Fo Shan mountain ranges hold many ancient Taoist temples and is a part of the holy Taoist sites in China. When Chan Heung returned to his village he was determined to improve his fellow clan villagers' lifes through education and good health. Chan Heung Gung set up the Wing Sing Tong", , translating to Successful Association" in his clan's village ancestral hall. Here he treated all local and surrounding villagers' ailments and sicknesses. At the same time he began teaching all the Chen clan his Shaolin Buddhist Kung Fu knowledge to build their health and stregnth of mind, body and soul. Within the clan ancestoral hall he hung the banner: - Hung Sing Gwoon", meaning "Training Hall of Great Sage". These are the writings on the middle panel hanging at the school. This was to remind all that stood before it that wise teachings are revered, both Buddhist and Taoist. The banner being in the centre is significant because this represents the central thoughts that we should hold in our hearts and minds. The two couplets on either side are the inspiring words of the great sages of the past to lift ourselves and our community out of ignorance with education and use our intuition to balance our life. Remember, in those days it was a daily practice. The couplets read: Greatness and power can only be achieved with both academic studies and experience. True understanding of martial arts requires both intuition and practice. Next time you are paying respect to our founder and ancestors, remember the meaning behind the couplets and know that although everyone's martial arts journey is different, hard work and dedication to the style will help you progress towards your goal, whatever it may be.

22.01.2022 Dear Students, due to the announced government regulations concerning indoor sporting activities, Shoalhaven Kung Fu Academy needs to suspend operation as of midday today amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. Unfortunately this means no face to face kungfu or qi gong classes for the remainder of term 1. Term 2 is due to commence on Monday 27/4, however we will need to review the regulations closer to that time and update you all. Most importantly stay safe and well, as a doctor I recommend you observe all of the social distancing measures recommended by health authorities, even though at times it seems extreme, so that we are successful in controlling the spread of covid 19 and limiting the risks to those in our community most vulnerable, and we can all get back to normal life, and back to training. Regards, Sifu Craig & SiMo Sonia

22.01.2022 For all students past and present, we are having a little Christmas get together before we break for summer holidays. All are welcome to drop in to say hi to our kung-fu and qigong family. Date: Thursday 17th December 2020. Time: 5:30pm to 7:30pm Where: Shoalhaven Kung Fu Academy at 23-27 Moss Street Nowra ... You are welcome to bring along a plate to share, but don't worry if you don't get time to whip up something, your company is sufficient. Hope to see you all then, to say goodbye to an interesting year, and of course for our annual photo opportunity. See more

19.01.2022 Thanks to everybody that could make it to our little Christmas party, thanks for a great year, stay safe throughout the holidays and see you in 2021.

18.01.2022 Thank you to all our Kung Fu and Qigong students and their family members for attending our Shoalhaven Kung Fu Academy Chan Family Choy Lee Fut Christmas party, a great night, with a great spread of food thanks to many generous donations. 17.01.2022 We had the pleasure of hosting our Dragon Disciple Kungfu brother Tomasz Chabowski from Poland in Shoalhaven this week after a few days in Sydney. We had a great time, and now we look forward to going to Poland to train in 2020.

16.01.2022 Hora de la comida en el Centro de entrenamiento y Desarrollo del Kung fu tradicional Choy Lee Fut fam. Chan después de un arduo entrenamiento.

04.01.2022 So far our trial live online kungfu and Qi gong classes have gone very well and I'm pleased with how we've all adapted to this non-traditional means of interacting, and we're making the most of it. We'll have one more trial live online Qi gong class this Wednesday. Next Monday we'll start our Term 2 online, in 5 week blocks, and wait for an end to the Covid-19 pandemic when face to face teaching can resume. Student's need to register their interest via email: [email protected] I'll detail fees via email but they'll be similar to usual fees.

03.01.2022 It's been a week or so without classes due to the challenging but necessary Covid19 social distancing strategies were mandated, and that's a long time in kungfu. Seems more like a month. We've been experimenting with some online approaches to help us and our members keep the way. Its not quite the same as sweating ot out with your partners on the pads, or meditating on your DanTian with the peaceful energy of a communal Zen, but much better than Netflix. It's now time for a trial of the technology next week, so send me your email address to register your desire to participate [email protected] I'm sending more details by text also.

03.01.2022 All student's and family are welcome to come help out at Lion Dances for Chinese New Year. The Chinatown parade will be especially important on Saturday February 1st.
