25.01.2022 You know Sensei Dale and myself (Sensei Dave) have been teaching karate for a while when you are sitting in a year 12 graduation ceremony and all of a sudden you spot a kid that you used to teach when he was little now graduating from Year 12! Where does the time go! Congratulations to anyone and everyone who is celebrating a milestone this year, this very long and crazy year. Take a break, rest a little bit and enjoy your time off.

23.01.2022 Just a quick reminder that as we move back to contact training we need to do a little trimming of those dangerous nails!

23.01.2022 When I shared the Scott Adkins Tornado Kick Tutorial I said I'd give it a try. It's good to try something new, start with the basic movement then build up as you gain confidence. Here is how I progressed through learning the kick.

22.01.2022 Happy Wed everyone. I hope all are well and have been looking after themselves through this lockdown period. Just a quick update. At present we haven't heard anything about if and when we can get back to training. I am attempting to contact the pcyc, so hopefully i will have some further info shortly. Once we get the info we will have to make some decisions about how we will train. As there could be limited numbers we are allowed to have. ... Once we get some more info we will let you know asap. Can't wait to get back into it all. Sensei Dale See more

14.01.2022 Here is a slightly modified version of our second Bo Kata (due to limited space and a shorter Bo and sore knees not wanting to turn so well). You can practice along with this video and Sensei Dale and Sensei Dave will fix it up when we get back to classes. Enjoy.

13.01.2022 Sorry for the spam, but thought I’d show why I was using a 5 foot Bo and not the 6 foot Bo as in this video. No damage done, a couple of maybe it’ll fit thoughts, then a better judgment call....shorter Bo required.

13.01.2022 A great tutorial on the back kick by the extraordinary Scott Atkins. Something to practice for when we get back in front of those bags. I want to see someone do the side kick into back kick!

12.01.2022 Please see the announcement from the PCYC regarding the latest advice on COVID-19

10.01.2022 This is a more advanced kicking routine based on our basic kata floor pattern slowed down so that you can follow on and practice at home. It helps to learn the transtion from Front Kick and Side Kick while maintaining balance and control of the leg. You need to focus on rotation of the hips, chambering of the knee, kicking foot position and rotation of the base foot. You will also notice that we keep our hands up at all times.

07.01.2022 Term 3 starts this week on Wednesday night. We will continue last terms training schedule with no Junior class and the Senior class starting at 5:30pm. We will have the PMJJK group back training on the matts so we will be only using the wooden floor again. Please ensure you arrive on time so we can ensure we have sufficient space to train. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we can restart the Junior classes. To keep everyone healthy, if you are sick or have been travelling throu...gh any COVIDSAFE-19 hot spots, including Victoria, Bateman’s Bay Soldiers Club and areas in Sydney please take the night off. Also make sure you have trimmed your nails as nobody likes a scratching.

06.01.2022 afternoon all.. we are finally able to return to training. however it will be at a reduced state. we have had to make some changes to classes and class times to be able to return. unfortunately at this stage we will only be hosting the Advanced classes. there will be no Beginners classes until further notice. ... as stated above we've had to also make changes to the Advanced class timings. From Wed 03/06 until further notice. Advanced 17:30 - 19:00. Sat 06/06 will remain at normal time 11:00 - 12:30. we understand this may not be ideal for all involved. but we have to work with the PCYC and the current restrictions around onsite numbers, distancing and hygiene etc. please contact the PCYC if you have any questions about payment options etc. as i believe it is going to be a class by class payment method for the time being. at this stage we won't be able to have Parents/guardians waiting inside the centre on the side lines. as this will count towards the total of people allowed in the area. Drop off's will have to be signed in at the front desk by parents/guardians (if needed). pick ups will have to be out the front of the building. we will make sure one of us waits out there with the students. so make sure everyone's got warm clothes and shoes after training. looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it tomorrow night. and we may have some further info for you by then also. see you soon. Sensei Dale

03.01.2022 good evening everyone. i am happy to say that we are able to conditionally return to training! yaaaaay. so what this means. there is a limited amount of people allowed in the area at one time. our numbers shouldn't be much of an issue. but the phase 2 rules we will be adhering to is 20 students plus an instructor abiding by distancing rules.... in order to accomplish this. there will be some changes to some classes and class times. we are currently waiting on the feedback from the PCYC around this. so stay tuned for further information. once we lock down our classes we will inform you here. at present we are hoping for a Wed 06/06 return. for any follow up questions, don't hesitate to send us a message through FB messenger. happy training.. Sensei Dale.

03.01.2022 Another simple lesson from Sifu Cheuk Fai coordinating your stepping with the jab and reverse punches. You should see quite a lot of similarities from when we teach these movements. Have a look at his other lessons as they build up a great set of techniques for you to practice.

01.01.2022 Sifu Cheuk Fai has been doing some training videos on the basic techniques. This is a great example of the jab and uppercut. Sifu used to train and compete with Sensei Ivan and introduced the Bo Kata to us.

01.01.2022 For those at the senior class today, does this look familiar? I stumbled across this picture on another Karate page, a couple of Boy Scouts training back in the old days.

01.01.2022 Here is a bit of fun for the kickers to try....and yes, I will be giving it a go. Train safely, and make sure you warm up and stretch before trying these types of kick.

01.01.2022 Reverting to normal class times. With the current change in climate and the impacts of COVID-19, we had to make changes with our training schedule and types of training permitted. With the latest reprieves in the ACT and allowable numbers in the training area, we are now looking to revert back to standard training times prior to the lockdown. This change will take place as of Wednesday the 02/09/20. As a refresher, the standard training hours are as follows. Wednesday nigh...t Beginners/Jnrs = 17:30 18:30 Advanced/Snrs = 18:30 20:00 Saturday Beginners/Jnrs = 10:00 11:00 Advanced/Snrs = 11:00 12:30 (unchanged) We look forward to seeing all the beginners again, and any new faces that come through the early class. Thank you. See more
