25.01.2022 Meet Tane Beatty-smith from Longreach, Central Western Queensland..... Shockwave is so proud of our long-standing association with this bush kid. Tane was one of the original followers of Shockwave from his early youth. Being a bush kid that wasn't into sports, and whom was pretty shy made finding things to do pretty tough for Tane, especially when trying to fit in with other sporty kids. Shockwave opened a door and a pathway for Tane to reach his full creative potential, rig...ht here in outback Queensland. Tane had a love for music, and in particular the guitar. Through participation in Shockwave workshops and the Festivals, Tane was given the confidence, access to mentors, and self-belief that he was able to develop his self taught guitar skills into something more, unleashing his creative self and enhancing his raw talent in guitar and vocals to a becoming a talented musician. Since completing school Tane has helped cohort the 'Central Western Music Makers' and is a member of their band, playing professionally all over Central Western Queensland. Tane and the Central Western Music Makers (made up of other Shockwave youth) have also been employed in 2018 by the Shockwave Program to deliver music workshops to youth all over Central Western Queensland. We are also excited that at this year's festival, Tane took out the 'Wicked in the West', Battle of the Bands Comp, wowing X-Factor Stars Jess & Matt and taking home his very own home recording package (just what you need when you live in the bush). Tane's professional music career is beginning to flourish and we cannot wait for what the future holds for this likable lad from the country.... Good job Tane!!!! #shockwave18 #centralwestmusicmakers #outbackqueensland #music #youthfestival #longreach See more

16.01.2022 Blackall Youth Centre Program for NEXT WEEK!!!!

12.01.2022 The Shockwave Program has always been about supporting Central Western young people in free 'creative expression' and development. We embrace our small multi-cultural communities in which we live, and in return 'outback Queensland' experiences a taste of different cultures along way away from our own sun-burnt country.... This year Shockwave Program has had the absolute pleasure meeting and supporting local Blackall member Grace Pindo in showcasing her Indian culture to youth... in CWQ. Grace has resided in Blackall for almost 2 years, after moving all the way from India to be closer to her parents after they received Australian Citizenship. What a 'Culture-shock' it must have been for Grace to come straight from India to the heart of the Outback. But Grace embraced her new horizons and settled into country life with ease. She not only had to learn English, but also with quick to take the opportunity to learn a bit of 'bush slang' also lol..... Shockwave has loved getting to know Grace, she took up the opportunity to come to Brisbane this April for an Artz Innovation Camp at Flying Arts. Grace also then became a Shockwave 'Young Coordinator' where the Shockwave team have supported her with having the access and confidence to share part of her culture at our youth Festival - performing 'Bollywood' Dance, and providing youth from all around the region with Free Henna Body Art at the festival.....The demand was high but Grace was determined to get through the long line-up of youth, staying on after-hours under the dim of the streetlight to get all the children done! Thank you again Grace Pindo for being a part of this year's program and we wish you all the success in your studies as you move on to the Gold Coast :) #betterinblackall #hennaart #bushkids #shockwave18 #blackall #longreach #tambo #winton #youthfestival #multiculturalism See more

11.01.2022 Blackall Peeps - Youth Centre Opening when Holidays kick in.... Lots to do!

04.01.2022 Shockwave has had the privilege of partnering with our regional aboriginal group 'Central West Aboriginal Corporation' in this year's program.... To be able to watch the connection unfold between our CWQ Youth and some of the elders within our region is heartwarming.... Through artistic, dance & storytelling workshops, Youth in CWQ have been connected to our region's cultural heritage in way that has ignited conversation, acceptance, intrigue & most importantly respect & unde...rstanding.... Art & creative expression has been the means by which youth have been able to grasp "where we came from, and moving forward, where we are going"... Thank you again to Central West Aboriginal Corporation for sharing your culture, your elders knowledge of our land with Shockwave #shockwave18 #centralwestaboriginalcorp #aboriginalcultureandart See more
