25.01.2022 Ducks, Cows you name it! Fun weekend thanks to a very happy group. Looking forward now to Blackwater Workshop in a couple of weeks followed by Clermont

25.01.2022 I am planning a one day workshop here in Sapphire on Saturday July 6, 9am - 4pm. "Creating Characters" will cover all the basics of painting with watercolours, followed by the completion, by each student, of one or even two engaging artworks, ready to frame. All materials will be provided plus one 11"x14" mat board to frame your artwork. Estimated cost at this stage would be $80 for the full day. If you would be interested in attending, could you please private message or comment below. Thanks. Shona

24.01.2022 Lorikeets are pretty rude to each other I find, always screeching and poking at each other like naughty teenagers. Last "round" one as the resin has run out.

24.01.2022 Facebook tells me you haven't heard from me in awhile (haha) so here I am :)

24.01.2022 I have just added this original painting to my etsy page, (digital prints and 8x10 prints to follow soon). https://www.etsy.com//679059507/dusky-elephant-original-wa

23.01.2022 Yesterday I had a busy day as judge of the 43rd Blackwater art competition & exhibition. The artworks were amazing and a great opening night was had, as always. Thanks to the Blackwater High School faculty for the invitation to judge and the students for wonderful catering last night. Now a full weekend workshop with the Blackwater Art Society. Who's retired?! Not me :)

22.01.2022 I've just added these three paintings to my website. I will have them there for just over a week then, if unsold, will move to a local gallery. (I'm off to NZ for February so wont be home to do any mailing). Please follow this link to take a look or click on Shop Now. (If you need more info about the paintings just scroll down to where I posted each seperately last week. Thanks) https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2607269

21.01.2022 Fast asleep on the lounge chair, this commissioned cat has now gone home with its owner. Well-loved-pretty-spoilt moggy apparently.

20.01.2022 Sharing this in honour of magpie swooping season. Copped one to the head a couple of days ago...literally out of the blue. This is just a portion of a large painting I entered in the annual Emerald art comp, 2nd prize in Works on Paper section.

20.01.2022 I have just uploaded 5 x packs of 4 greeting cards for sale on my website and will share as I add to the collection. Just click "shop now" if you would like to take a look or visit https://shonaswatercolours.com/collections/115559 thanks :)

20.01.2022 No 11 for tomorrow! I'm no race follower but I just found this in the archives, it could be a premonition.

20.01.2022 Thanks to all who came to the workshop on the weekend and here a some of the beauties that were produced. I was too busy talking and shouldve taken more pics but if anyone has one they'd like to share, please feel free You were a very positive talented group, I hope you enjoyed yourselves.

19.01.2022 Thanks Clermont Artslink for inviting for last weekends workshop. Here are some of the clever participants showing off their work. Emily (7) produced a multitude of works Rose and Jana working hard.

19.01.2022 Workshop 30 June 1 July 2018 I am planning 2 x 1 day workshops for the weekend above, here in Sapphire at our Gemfields Multipurpose centre hall. I have not advertised this anywhere else as yet. 9 am - 4 pm, $60 per day, all materials provided. Saturday will be covering the basics for beginners and Sunday a more advanced project (but certainly not beyond anybody who would like to have a go). There are a few people who have asked me for workshops dates recently so I thought I would put this out there before I start waving my Flyer about. Pm me or leave a message here, phone me, stop me at the post office or whatever is easiest if you want to put your name down for either or both days. I will post the Flyer in about a weeks time with all the details. Cheers :)

19.01.2022 Two more card packs added to my website. Click "Shop Now" to view collection or visit https://shonaswatercolours.com/collections/115559 Thanks

19.01.2022 Are there any budding artists in the area who would be interested in joining me for a series of weekly watercolour classes during 2020? Just trying to gauge interest for lesson planning purposes atm. I am thinking of holding morning sessions here in Sapphire, over 4 consecutive Saturdays beginning after Easter. Included would be basic techniques for painting animal characters, colour theory, perspective and hopefully getting out amongst the locals - camels, brolgas, horses and cattle to paint en plein air. Could you comment or PM if you might like to join in, no obligation.

18.01.2022 https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2745631 A couple of curious emus with a few mates :) now posted to my website. Follow the link and thanks for viewing.SOLD

18.01.2022 I'll be away for a couple of weeks so will put this lady in my Etsy store when I get back. If you are interested in her before Tuesday just message me. She looks a little forlorn , measures 8"x11" and comes with a 11"x14" mat board ready to frame - $100 postage free (within Australia).

16.01.2022 A painting I have found from a few years ago, inspired by a trip to the wonderful Kakadu

16.01.2022 I drove down to Blackwater on Monday to pick up my entries from the annual Blackwater Highschool Art Exhibition and was really pleased to see my latest chook painting, Splash Wyandottes, had won Best Watercolour. I didnt make it to the opening night but hear it was a roaring success as usual. Thanks to everyone who works so hard to put it all together, we artists really appreciate it. Now my arm is on the mend I'm back to painting again, my studio today :) cactus and bumble bees

16.01.2022 Had a great weekend staying at Takarakka Bush Resort in the Carnarvon Gorge. Saturday was Workshop day, lovely group of painters producing echidnas and kookaburras to frame and hang in the "Pool Room" . The setting was beautiful, plenty of birds around singing their hearts out, platypus in the creek at the back, kangaroos on the lawns, very special place to visit.

16.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in taking part in a series of watercolour lesson in 2020. I will definitely share on my page dates, place, cost and description of lesson content in the new year. I always have a lot of fun painting with enthusiastic artists, so I'm looking forward to it.

15.01.2022 I have quite a backlog of paintings in the studio, they seem to have come out of nowhere all of a sudden. Time to get posting to the website! I havent quite decided on a name for this yet - perhaps something catchy like "Two Kookaburras"

14.01.2022 A bit belated, but thanks so much to Tania and the those who made the Saturday workshop in Clermont a great day. Here are a few paintings in progress, wombats (of course, Clermont is home to the Northern Hairy Nose), guinea fowl and frogmouths. ... plus one of the group in action.

13.01.2022 Two Superb Fairy Wrens amongst reeds and bulrushes. As usual I have been sitting at the computer for 20 minutes now, trying to get the colours of the painting and those on the screen to look exactly the same! Almost impossible I'm thinking at this stage but pretty close to true my end. Do any other artists suffer through this process or is it me? Just added to my website if you would like to visit https://shonaswatercolours.com/collections/96379

13.01.2022 Playing with Christmas card ideas :)

13.01.2022 Sold Emu dads and their chicks, always fun to paint, fresh from my imagination! Please click the link below to view this painting on my website. https://shonaswatercolours.com/collections/96379

12.01.2022 A memory from Fira, Santorini. I loved watching the mules and donkeys who work so hard carrying all those tourists up the steps from the Old Port. The sound of their bells just tops it off, I'm sure I'm not the only one with a soft spot for them. I have just posted this painting for sale on my Etsy page if anyone is interested to take a look https://www.etsy.com//682201357/original-watercolour-mule- (The frame is just for show )

12.01.2022 I'm looking forward to a busy November after a bit of overseas travel and other important stuff has kept me occupied these past few months. I will be attending the State School craft fair in Emerald in a couple of weeks, always a Gala event!

12.01.2022 "Cool Morning" is now for sale on my website, follow the link to view :) https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2761464

12.01.2022 "The Pointer Sisters" has just been added for sale on my website https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2863291 Click link or Shop Now to check it out. Thanks.

11.01.2022 My first Christmas order of 7 x A4 unframed prints going out to Winton this week These unframed prints are $20 ea. The framed red wren is an example of how they look in a 12x16" frame (this one from Big W)

11.01.2022 My finished wombat from the Clermont workshop.

11.01.2022 While I'm on the subject, another of the pelican trio. I have added this to my website as well if you are interested. https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2564268

10.01.2022 Now for sale on my website. If you have time, please stop by to have a look. https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2754315

10.01.2022 I have just posted "Mates for Life" on my website, I hope you will drop by and take a look. https://shonaswatercolours.com/workszoom/2749576

09.01.2022 I called this "After the Storm", (bit of whimsy considering the current weather). I'll be dusting off the oils and pastels this year just for a bit of variety in life. Fingers crossed i haven't completely forgotten how to use them. More watercolour workshops coming up, already one planned for the Dysart art group in February and the New Royal Hotel, Rubyvale in April. Will advertise any others as they come up.

07.01.2022 Looking for your opinions of the overall appearance of my first watercolour of 2018. It is very different from a regular paint-on- paper piece as I've used a 33cm mdf circle board, 2 coats of gesso and two of Golden's QOR WATERCOLOUR GROUND (first time user). It was a great surface to paint on, the paint acted as if on paper, I used both ink and watercolour pigments. Finally I coated with resin which brought out the colours, white especially and gave a glass like finish. No framing required WOOHOO!

07.01.2022 The lovely group of ladies from The Blackwater Art Society with their artworks from last weekends watercolour workshop.

07.01.2022 I will be holding another workshop on July 6, this time in Sapphire. If you would be interested in spending the day painting with me, please leave details by email, private message or phone, see flyer for details. I have room for about 12, a few spots are already taken. Thanks.

07.01.2022 Time to start painting again after my Christmas hiatus. This has been sold but i thought I'd share, inspired by a really lovely visit with Lizzie O'Neill and family last year

07.01.2022 A little late posting but these are some of the lovely artworks the ladies from Dysart Art Inc produced a few weekends ago. Sorry to the two ladies cut out of my group photo, obviously I should have taken a couple more steps back with my camera thank you all for the lovely day and your Dysart hospitality!

06.01.2022 (Sorry to repeat this but for some reason or other it was deleted, so I'll try again). I've posted "Bubba" on my website which I have sadly neglected over the past year but, with a bit of luck, will now take it on a lot more seriously! I hope you will take a look. Link to this painting is below or hit Shop Now to go to the home page. https://shonaswatercolours.com/collections/96379

06.01.2022 Cow and calf, part of a larger painting all framed up and ready for its new home ! One more single lady cow to upload to my Etsy page tomorrow, then off to Bali for a couple of weeks. Noice!

06.01.2022 Mandy Vale enjoying herself and Ellen the Hairdressers stormy sky.

06.01.2022 Round painting of Tawny Frogmouth Chicks, no ink this time, only watercolour on "ground" with resin to seal. It's difficult to get the colours just right but this is close. Will do one more australian bird and see how they look as a trio (triptych should I say). The grain of the board gives a nice texture.

05.01.2022 Here are just a few more examples of prints I make of my original paintings. I print around 120 images collected over 2 decades of painting in watercolours. (Come 2020 I am branching-back into oils & pastels just for a touch of variety) These prints come in 8x10" mat boards ($15 ea + p&h), 11x14" mat boards ($25 + p&h), ready to be popped into an over-the- counter frame. Orders over 4 are free postage. Just PM me if you are interested in purchasing or would like to look at something different for a Christmas gift.

05.01.2022 One of the new listings I have on my Etsy page. https://www.etsy.com//664123520/wild-pony-wall-decor-print Now to work out how to link all this facebook/instagram/etsy up together

05.01.2022 These are the products I used on the crows.

05.01.2022 I just want to announce the reopening of my previously "dormant" Etsy shop. Humble beginnings at the moment and still tweaking but please take a look at https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/Shonaswatercolours

04.01.2022 No shortage of variety from the Clermont Artslink workshop group...everything from eagles, camels, seahorses and of course the cute little birds below. Thanks for being a fun group.

04.01.2022 More artistic work from the Blackwater Art Society's workshop, "Creating Characters", last weekend. Next stop Clermont

04.01.2022 Gift Cards for Christmas. I have a wide range of prints and greeting cards to choose from 8x10" print+mat board, postage included $20 (within Aus) 11x14" print, mat board, postage included $30 (within Aus) Pack of 5 greeting cards, $25 including postage. PM me for more info.... (NB - not redeemable for cash - No expiry date) See more

03.01.2022 "Move Over Please". Inspired by the gang of guinea fowl that live near the Community Gardens at Sapphire. It's almost unbelievable that they can roost so high, they are so big and fat. Quite an effort.

03.01.2022 Just shared by the New Royal Hotel Rubyvale, their contact No. is 49854754 if you are interested in joining in the weekend

02.01.2022 Just sharing a few pics from last weekends workshop in the log cabins at The New ROYAL HOTEL Rubyvale. Thanks to Wendy McFarlane and all the staff for the meals and goody bags and being so welcoming. A lovely group of painters bit chilly for us Queenslanders so the open fire just topped it off.

01.01.2022 These are sections of a large 4xhorse "request" painting, almost completed. I prefer to do "requests" rather than "commissions" now. No formal agreement or deposit involved, just an understanding that if the customer decides against purchasing the end product, I am free to sell it regardless of their ownership of any photographs involved. Seems to work ok, takes the pressure off both sides and I'm getting too old for pressure now
