21.01.2022 Hey it’s me, I’m back from not actively posting and I’ve got some seriously things to address! I want to talk Gestational Diabetes for a second here. I’ve treated it a few times now and I keep coming back to the same conclusions. Conventional healthy eating guidelines for gestational diabetes include processed packaged foods and even foods high in carbohydrates which are known to spike blood glucose. I know those cravings oh so well but clinical research supports a low-carb ...wholefood or paleo diet in pregnancy. Better options include cauliflower rice instead of white rice, nuts and seeds instead of chips and crackers & eating adequate amounts of proteins (animal or non) as well as higher fibre foods. A favourite snack of mine is dates stuffed with seed/nut butter and cinnamon. I’ve written a blog on GD which you can read here: https://shonellesiegmann.com//a-naturopathic-approach-to-g Much love #gestationaldiabetes #pregnancy #ivf #infertility #insulinresistance #gestationaldiabetesdiet #pregnancyproblems

15.01.2022 Could you or your child have food intolerances lurking underneath the surface? Unlike food allergies, a food intolerance can go undetected for months or even years on end. Intolerance reactions can take up to 72 hours to appear, so you might never link the food to the symptoms that surface. The symptoms of food intolerances are more varied than an allergic reaction. This can make it even tougher to figure out the problem!... Some of the often-elusive signs of a food intolerance can include: Digestive symptoms think diarrhoea, constipation, IBS, bloating, gas and tummy pain Headaches and migraines Behavioural issues such as hyperactivity, sudden mood swings and tantrums (FYI, food intolerances often go hand in hand with ADHD and autism) Mental health symptoms such as feeling irritable, anxious or depressed Dark circles under the eyes A constantly blocked or runny nose Body aches and pains Fatigue and low energy levels Poor concentration and brain fog Skin symptoms such as acne breakouts The problem is that identifying a food intolerance can be tough. You could spend weeks or even months following different elimination diets to try and narrow down the problem food or even if a food is to blame in the first place! The good news is that hair testing can help you to uncover the foods and everyday products contributing to symptoms. To learn more, head to the website in my bio and select ‘Compatibility Report’. 12.01.2022 How long should you prepare your body before actively trying to fall pregnant? I recommend starting a preconception protocol at least six months prior to trying for a baby. For people with previous fertility issues, hormonal imbalance or other complications, I might recommend 12 months of intentional dietary and lifestyle changes, along with supplements specific to their individual needs.... Remember - it takes time to build up your nutrient stores and correct any underlying issues. But patience often pays off! See more

11.01.2022 What is hyperemesis gravidarum? This is a condition that is diagnosed when nausea and vomiting of pregnancy are extremely severe (up to 50 times a day), persists past the first trimester, or results in a weight loss of at least five per cent of your pre-pregnancy weight. The condition is serious, as it can lead to dehydration and malnutrition of both mother and baby. Half of all mothers with Hyperemesis Gravidarum may also develop depress...ion or anxiety. The exact cause remains unknown. Medications are routinely prescribed to help manage the symptoms, but they are not always effective. Have you or a mother you know been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum? See more

10.01.2022 'Food as medicine' takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to supporting fertility and reproductive health. Once an overlooked and underestimated factor in fertility and pregnancy outcomes, the importance of nutrition to preconception preparation is only just being realised. 05.01.2022 Did you make any changes to your diet or lifestyle prior to falling pregnant? Or did you take more of a winging-it approach?

03.01.2022 I’ve got a 4 zazen water filter systems available for wellard pick-up! Pictured is the glass based one. I’ve filled mine up twice today because our aircon also broke Why do I use and recommend a zazen water filter? Because: It’s stinking hot in Perth (who else is melting today?)... It is free of BPA and phthalates, and comes with a glass-bottom tank option It reduces fluoride content by up to 90% It filters out THMs the harmful chemicals that are produced when water is chlorinated It also filters poisonous heavy metals and other bacteria right down to 0.2 microns! It hydrates your body at the cellular level and if you’ve heard me mention hydration before, you know that this is essential! It nourishes your body with a range of essential minerals and electrolytes - just as nature intended So basically it’s like having a natural spring in your own home! Pick-up is from Wellard - PM me to arrange payment. I’m extending payment plan for these and as always full payment
