24.01.2022 This is some vision from one of the new artificial reefs installed in December 2019. This video was taken about 4 weeks after deployment and the modules have al...ready attracted schools of baitfish and the first benthic organisms have started to grow. These reefs will take two to three years to become productive established reefs with pelagic species such as mackerel and trevally the first to arrive, but dont be surprised if the occasional reef fish shows up. For more information on the new artificial reefs head to our website www.nt.gov.au or download the NT Fishing Mate App. See more

24.01.2022 Time-lapse capture is a powerful project management tool for monitoring actual progress on-site. We provided our time-lapse services to Shorecast NT to capture ...the impressive casting of the Artificial Reef that was recently sunk. The camera took an image every 10 minutes, 12 hours a day for 3 months. MKH VisualAspect - Darwin Photographer & Videographer Productions then worked their magic filming and editing this awesome promotional video. https://vimeo.com/387561371

15.01.2022 Boost for Fisho's as Artificial Reefs Installed at Stokes Hill Wharf Stokes Hill Wharf is set to become an even more attractive fishing spot for land-based Ter...ritory fishos with 15 small artificial reefs deployed. The installation of purpose-built artificial reefs not only delivers exciting new fishing areas, but also reduces pressure on existing natural reef and fish stocks to support the long-term sustainability of fisheries. Darwin Waterfront Corporation has recently completed a refurbishment of the recreational fishing platform at Stokes Hill Wharf, providing a great opportunity for land-based fishos to access a safe and productive location, enhanced by the new reef modules. The artificial reefs are designed to combine the best features of a natural reef with internal caves, cryptic habitat, vertical relief and upwelling of water flow to create new habitats enhancing productivity of fish stocks. 10.01.2022 GREAT NEWS! The deployment of the NTs new artificial reefs began last night! A very exciting development for enhanced recreational fishing in the Territory...... Offering more and varied fishing opportunities for rec fishers, the 4 footy field-sized reefs, which include 116 individual 23t modules built locally by NT company Shorelands PTY LTD with assitance from HPA Helping People Achieve, will continue to be deployed over the next month. The reefs will be located in the Greater Darwin region, with two between Lee Point and North Gutter, one near Dundee, and one between Cape Hotham and the Veronon Islands. Designed by Australian company Subcon Technologies Pty Ltd the reefs will replicate the best possible natural reef habitat for demersal and pelagic fish. Fishers will be able to fish the reefs immediately, and it is preditcted that enhanced fishing for pelagic species wont take long to kick off. The reef structures will attract and grow natural plants, sponges, and other fouling organisms, and it is expected that over a two to three year period the reef complexes will continue to improve and fully establish as prime habitats for reef fish like snappers, jewfish and cods. We look forward to sharing the GPS locations as soon as they are available! ***This project forms part of the governments $50 million election commitment to enhance recreational fishing in the NT*** Video care of Paul Kirby: Member for Port Darwin Fisheries NT Darwin Game Fishing Club Palmerston Game Fishing Club Inc. 08.01.2022 ARTIFICIAL REEFS UPDATE Only four months since deployment, check out how fast the NT artificial reefs are attracting fish! Large numbers of juveniles showing u...p and with anecdotal reports of larger fish catches, it looks like a promising start. Hear whats been aggregating on em: https://ab.co/35HH0xF At this stage the big messages from Fisheries NT when fishing them are: Only catch what you need for a feed Beware barotrauma Dont clean fish on site to avoid attracting sharks Use bigger circle hooks

07.01.2022 Already for mud racing tonight and the Australia Day Ute run tomorrow.

06.01.2022 Massive shout out to Martin and Gary from Shaws Transport for taking the donations down to Bemboka NSW more to come.

06.01.2022 Deployment of the 4 new artificial reefs is now well underway with 3 reefs Lee point Wide, Central Gutters and Dundee complete. The other reef, Adelaide River, ...is expected to be completed by the end of December. Each reef consists of 29 modules clustered into 7 groups to cover an area of approximately 2.5 hectares. Whilst the reefs may initially attract fish within the first few weeks it will take 2-3 years for them to develop into productive habitat. In readiness for the completion of the reefs, coordinates for their locations have been announced and included in the publication of the latest Tomorrows Fishing Starts Today booklet. This booklet contains a wealth of information on fishing in the Territory including possession limits, local rules and vessel safety. The new artificial reef coordinates have also been released on the NT Fishing Mate App and online.
