23.01.2022 VISITOR UPDATE // With a few days of favourable weather conditions ahead of us, Bright is cautiously back in business and waiting for you! This heartwarming pic... of our regular Sunday Session was taken yesterday afternoon (thanks to the High Country Brewery Trail for the pic). The official Vic Emergency message for Bright and surrounds was downgraded to 'Advice' from 'Watch and Act' last night (Sun, Jan 12) and the State of Disaster has been lifted, meaning the region is now cautiously open to visitors. Please note, however, that the fires are still burning, there is still emergency management work ongoing, there is still the risk of future evacuations, and the air quality is variable. But many businesses are open, or working to get their doors open as soon as possible (we are open from 12pm-late for lunch and dinner) and Mystic MTB is back open, but some remain closed. If you are intending to visit, you should contact your individual accommodation provider for specific advice. Our local businesses have been hit hard by this bushfire crisis - while we're luckier than many not to have lost anything except trade, it will have a huge impact on the region for many months to come. So when you do visit, whether it's now or in the future, we ask you do something for us: , ; ; ! The emergency services have done a sterling job keeping our towns safe so far, and we all owe them a massive debt of gratitude. But they would like all visitors to heed the following warnings: - Be aware that if conditions deteriorate, visitors will again be asked to leave the region immediately. - Note that there is increased emergency services vehicles and heavy machinery on the roads, and some road closures still in place. Please take care on the roads. - Do not 'rubberneck' past fire or traffic management sites. - Stay within the township limits; do not go bush. - Please do not be wasteful with water and resources. - Note that air quality is variable, may not be suitable for vulnerable people, and stay up to date with the current EPA AirWatch ratings. - Be aware that this is still an active fire zone and conditions may deteriorate at any time. Stay informed of local conditions in the area you wish to travel to, and up to date with the latest Vic Emergency warnings for those areas.
