11.04.2022 Broken Hill Hospital Kiosk makes welcome return The Kiosk at the Broken Hill Health Service will re-open on Tuesday, 19 April 2022 after an extended Christmas/N...ew Year closure due to COVID-19. The Kiosk will be selling its favourite meals and treats to hospital visitors and staff Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm. Meals are takeaway only and non-visitors to the hospital will have to buy their goods via the outdoor window facing the hospital car park. A COVID-safe plan previously implemented will be observed and all volunteers are vaccinated, will wear masks and will observe social distancing. Kiosk Auxiliary President, Betty Sammut, said all the volunteers have been very keen to get back to work, especially due to the extended break due to COVID-19 and last year’s couple of closures. They’ve all been asking ‘when are we going back’, so everyone is very pleased and keen, she said. We’re all looking forward to reopening the kiosk and seeing staff and patients, and carers again. We hope this time we can stay open, said Ms Sammut. If anyone is interested in joining the Kiosk Auxiliary to volunteer at the Kiosk, they can see Betty Sammut at the Kiosk on Tuesdays from 8am to 3pm.

15.01.2022 MOVEMENT AROUND THE BORDERS A number of people have made their way to Broken Hill after South Australia’s lockdown restrictions came into effect at midnight ...on Thursday night. One caravan park was still checking people in at 2am this morning, while others are camped in rest areas leading into the city. Some families also made a dash to Adelaide yesterday afternoon to bring their children home from boarding schools. Dave Gray / Dionne Devlin / Irving Blundel
