25.01.2022 4 years ago at our Showbiz Club Night. From left: Barrie Boyes (sax), Alan Smith (drums), Graeme Steel (trumpet), Doug Kuhn (bass), Judee Horin (piano/vocal), Janet Arndt (bongos). Wonderful musicians and friends. Missing our exciting times together jamming. Magic was often made spontaneously.

24.01.2022 When live music kicks back off, watch out for this lot.

22.01.2022 Judee's lockdown levity.

21.01.2022 Well, here it is at last. The program for Monday and Tuesday. In order to give as many people as possible a go I have limited each time-slot to 35 minutes with ...just 5 minutes for a turn-around. Please do your best to start and finish on time. The bands indicated on the program already have personnel organised and have been allotted a spot to give the event some structure. Hopefully, the empty spaces will be filled by pick-up bands. Weather permitting, blowing could also take place in the beer garden or even in the adjoining park. Thanks to all who have shown an interest, making these two days viable. I hope you all have some fun! MONDAY 28th 2.00-2.35 David Lole’s Syncopaths 2.40 -3.15 3.20-3.55 Peter McKay & others 4.00- 4.35 Tony’s Party Band 4.40-5.15 5.20 -5.55 Anita Harris & Friends 5.55-6.05 Stand-to ‘Lest We Forget’ 6.05-6.40 Lydiard Street Finger Poppers 6.45-7.20 7.25-8.00 TUESDAY 29th 2.00-2.35 Steam Boat Whistlers 2.40 -3.15 3.20-3.55 Danny Sowter & others 4.00- 4.35 4.40-5.15 Two Way Traffic 5.20 -5.55 Shakers & Friends 5.55-6.05 Stand-to ‘Lest We Forget’ 6.05-6.40 Pat Miller & Friends 6.45-7.20 ARQ 7.25-8.00 All-in?! 20.01.2022 An old thing that popped up in today’s memories.

20.01.2022 Pippa Wilson sings the beautiful 'Shadow Of Your Smile' accompanied by Ann Craig (flute) and Kevin Blazé (guitar). The music was written by Johnny Mandel with l...yrics by Paul Francis Webster for the 1965 movie, 'The Sandpiper'. Pippa Wilson (vocals) Ann Craig (flute) Kevin Blazé (guitar) When things became very quiet in 2020, we thought we should ‘get together’ with Pippa and do something. So, here it is: a video made under COVID restrictions. We’ve had so many great gigs with Pippa including several at Ringwood RSL. In 2018, we were on the Frankston Arts Centre’s major events calendar with our show featuring Pippa Wilson and the Jazz Notes Showband, ‘Songs from the Cinema’. We had so many fantastic songs to choose from, but we totally forgot about this gem. No sandpipers here but you’ll hear our local birds in the background.

19.01.2022 Another fabulous night at Showbiz Social Club last night. Thank you to the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL for providing a wonderful venue.

17.01.2022 COVIDSafe end-of-year break-up. (Does it count as a break-up if we haven’t seen each other since February?)

15.01.2022 Big thanks again to Barrie Boyes who shared this terrific video. (And actually, quite a few of the others.)

14.01.2022 Our opening act

12.01.2022 Lost track of which act (and things are posting in a strange sequence anyway) but here's a short gem from Syl.

12.01.2022 The committee finally got together for a brief catch-up to talk about... committee stuff.

12.01.2022 In theory, a fresh (mini) Swing ‘n’ Sway at 2pm today; Anita at the helm.In theory, a fresh (mini) Swing ‘n’ Sway at 2pm today; Anita at the helm.

11.01.2022 Darn it! This wasn’t sent through for the gig guide but there’s definitely a Showbizzy face in this talented lot.

10.01.2022 Last Saturday’s Swing ‘n’ Sway (hosted by Madam Secretary) is available on the 3CR website for a few more days. There’s a link in the post below or you can search for the show’s name on 3CR’s site. And if you’re passing by the show’s new Facebook page, show your support and like us!

01.01.2022 Dear friends, it breaks my heart to tell you that our beloved Sheila Whitson passed away today. She was a legend of our music and jazz industry, and will be missed terribly. Melbourne will not be the same without our darling Sheila Whitson. Rest In Peace beautiful lady.
