17.01.2022 Coming in May 2018 We are proud to announce a new service in Toowoomba : individualised care for the assessment and management of people with Obesity and Binge Eating Disorder. SHRIINK is a specialist service offering psychiatric, dietetic and psychological treatments to help adults and adolescents with BMI over 35 or with Binge Eating to control excessive eating and manage weight loss. We offer psychiatric assessment and when appropriate medication prescription and monitor...ing, group and individual dietitian input and individual psychological treatment . Our psychiatrist, Dr Suren Putter-Lareman, has a special interest in the management of obesity and extensive experience in managing people who have eating disorders. She is the principal psychiatrist at Toowoomba Youth Mental Health Services. Dr Suren will be offering assessment and treatment planning, including use of medications when indicated or appropriate. Welma Joubert, renowned Toowoomba dietitian has extensive experience in the treatment and management of Obesity and Eating Disorders in public system and private practice. Welma is passionate about helping people manage weight loss using individualised, evidence based and healthy dietary plans and improving nutritional knowledge. Welma will offer individual sessions with clients and will run group programs to provide comprehensive care. Our psychologist, Sueanne Gola has worked with adults and adolescents with eating problems and various psychological conditions. We know that often people with eating difficulties have other stressors that need to be looked at as well as addressing the difficulties with food and eating. Our team will help our clients manage the difficulties they may have with eating and weight while also looking at other stressors or conditions that can be contributing to their difficulties. For clients undergoing bariatric surgery, we provide pre-op assessments and post operative supports. To benefit from Medicare rebates, a GP referral is required. Medicare rebates are available fo Referrals under the chronic diseases program (psychologists and dietitians) and under a mental health care plan (psychologists).
