Genuine self-care means resolving inner conflict diligently and respectfully, practicing positive self-talk and being more aware of one’s thoughts, feelings and actions and how they contribute to overall well-being. This includes: * Getting at least eight hours of sleep each night and following a consistent sleep schedule. * Exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy diet. * Avoiding mood-altering substances and other unhealthy coping mechanisms. * Setting and establishing boundaries in relationships. * Having a work-life balance and practicing stress management techniques to prevent burnout. Although self-care habits should be primarily positive, it’s important to acknowledge that self-care is also protective. Saying no, discontinuing unhealthy habits and ending negative relationships can all be discomforting but necessary. 03.01.2022 Good morning! Happy Friday to you all. During this time in self-isolation, I’ve been using some time to reflect and discovered that I have a tendency to self sabotage. What I mean by self sabotage is, I behave in ways that create issues in my daily life that also interferes with my life goals. For example, I am a shocking procrastinator! I am always leaving things to the very last minute, which ends up with me getting ultra stressed, losing sleep and not giving my very best, ...which then leads me too... be really critical and harsh in my self-talk. I would NEVER speak the same words I say to myself and call myself to another person, especially someone who’s dear to me. Self sabotage might look like: self-harming, procrastinating, comfort eating, self medicating using drugs and/or alcohol, excessively shopping just to name a few. Self sabotage is basically any behaviour/S that hinder you from living the best life possible and impact on your mental health, physical health, spiritual health and financial health.
