25.01.2022 Pope Francis has written an Apostolic Letter for the anniversary of the death of Saint Jerome - "he devoted himself to the study of sacred Scripture not for aesthetic reasons, but as is well known only because Scripture had led him to know Christ. Indeed, ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. Jerome teaches us that not only should the Gospels and the apostolic Tradition present in the Acts of the Apostles and in the Letters be studied and commented on, but that t...he entire Old Testament is indispensable for understanding the truth and the riches of Christ. The Gospel itself gives evidence of this: it speaks to us of Jesus as the Teacher who appeals to Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms (cf. Lk 4:16-21; 24:27.44-47) in order to explain his own mystery. The preaching of Peter and Paul in the Acts of the Apostles is likewise rooted in the Old Testament, apart from which we cannot fully understand the figure of the Son of God, the Messiah and Saviour.Nor should the Old Testament be thought of merely as a vast repertoire of citations that prove the fulfilment of the ancient prophecies in the person of Jesus of Nazareth.Rather, only in light of the Old Testament prefigurements is it possible to know more profoundly the meaning of the Christ event as revealed in his death and resurrection.Today we need to rediscover, in catechesis and preaching, as well as in theological exposition, the indispensable contribution of the Old Testament, which should be read and digested as a priceless source of spiritual nourishment." 24.01.2022 Happy feast day of St Therese of the Child Jesus! Doctor of the Church! Died age 24, a Saint! Whilst we are still in stage 4 with the extra time at home, perhaps you may like to take this chance to pick up her autobiography, "Story of a Soul" as your daily spiritual reading to meditate on her "little way" - the way to the heart of Jesus.

23.01.2022 Happy feast day of St Jerome!

22.01.2022 What the Bible teaches us about leadership

19.01.2022 ***Camino de Santiago - A virtual parish walk*** Well, we're off to a flying start! We've 53.5km under our belts already! We began in the French town of Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port and crossed the Pyrenees over into France, passing through Roncesvalles and Zubiri to reach Pamplona.... Luckily, the famous 'running of the bulls' in Pamplona happens in July, so the streets were safe to walk through. Now we are off through more of the old Kingdom of the Navarre, in the Basque country of Northern Spain. If you'd like to join, please send us a message on Facebook or contact the Parish office for assistance

17.01.2022 Happy Feast of Christ the King!

14.01.2022 This Advent and Christmas Seasons, all across the Melbourne Archdiocese, Catholic parishes will unite to share a simple message of love and hope after the long ...dark winter of lockdown in our state. To propose Jesus as the answer and way forward during this tumultuous time around our globe. To show our city that we are open and ready to welcome them into our communities! As you drive around Melbourne and visit your own parish community, when you spot the banner, take a photo and message it to us!

13.01.2022 The tomb of #CarloAcutis was opened this morning in Assisi after the Holy Mass officiated by the Bishop of the Diocese. The body of Carlo Acutis was found intact! For the first time in history you will see a saint dressed in jeans, sneakers and hoody. Holiness is not a distant thing but very much within everyone's reach because the Lord is for everyone.... Carlo Acutis was an Italian Roman Catholic teenager. He was best known for documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world and cataloging them all onto a website that he himself created in the months before his death from leukemia. Born: May 3, 1991 Died: 12 October, 2006 Credit: Diocesis Asis - Nocera Umbra - Gualdo Tadino

03.01.2022 A prayer for Migrant and Refugee Sunday that we observe today

02.01.2022 We have been joined this week on our pilgrimage by a few more people, which makes for good company. Together we've walked almost 150 km this week! That has taken us through beautiful countryside and the towns of Puente la Reina, Estella / Lizarra and Los Arcos, into the capital of the Rioja region, Logrono and on to Najera. We have just left Santo Domingo de la Calzada. This is also in the Rioja region, where all that lovely red wine comes from. The town is named after its fo...under, who built a hotel, hospital and a bridge (across the river Oja) to cater for early pilgrims. He is buried in the cathedral pictured below. Here is the Pilgrims Prayer: "St James, Apostle Chosen among the first You were the first to drink The Cup of the Master And you are the great protector of pilgrims; Make us strong in faith And happy in hope On our pilgrim joumey Following the path of Christian life And sustain us so that We may finally reach the glory of God the Father Amen"
