23.01.2022 It is a common misconception that many projects can be completed without an undercoat, 2 coats of low sheen will do just fine right? No! So lets get a few basic rules out of the way to help you along on your next project.... Undercoats have been formulated to do a specific job. They basically seal a surface and prepare it for the decorative or, top coat. They prevent surfaces from soaking up too much paint, they prevent colours and stains from bleeding through and they ensure adhesion and prevent peeling. Without undercoats, projects would take twice as long and last half as long. 21.01.2022 2 things we see with timber all the time that makes it get to this stage. 1. Wrong product used 2. Not maintained regular enough ... Result is always the same... sanding sanding and more sanding, meaning my time and your money ! To avoid this you can simply do these 2 things. 1. Hire a professional painter who knows his products and the right application. 2. Maintain it by re staining it or oiling it at least every 12- 18 months. Thats all.
