25.01.2022 SO EXCITED!!! Looks like we have a start date to return to classes - Tuesday 23rd June! This date, of course, is still dependant on the Community Centre opening it's doors to us. They have been in contact with me during the week just to touch base on our plans and processes we will have in place to ensure we don't breach any Covid19 guidelines and restrictions. I will outline more of this information in a later post

25.01.2022 Merry Christmas to everyone in our karate family! See you in the dojo in the New Year

21.01.2022 The Dojo is closed for in person classes, But We're Going Online! Hello Shukokai Dojos Family! Well, we knew it was coming, but had hoped to get another week or two of classes in. Not to be!... If you haven't heard the Prime Minister's announcement tonight, Indoor Sporting venues are amongst those who need to close their doors from 12pm today (Monday). This is going to be reassessed each month. We'll also keep up regular communication through the Facebook groups and email. So from tomorrow, we will be going virtual with our training. Little Ninjas and Mighty Samurai will have interactive classes to participate in (think along the lines of Play School or the Wiggles, in the way the presenter speaks to the children through the camera). For the bigger kids, there will be LOADS of tutorial content so you can practice your skills and drills. As well as regular live streamed classes. Well have details up about online classes asap. On top of that, we'll go regularly go live so you can ask any questions around training or techniques. (And, like any good band, we also take requests, so if there's anything you want to us to cover, let us know!) I know I've said this before, but I cannot express how grateful we are to those who are continuing to support the club in any way they can. Once we're out the other end of these trying times, you are going to be the MOST SPOILT students EVER! We won't forget your loyalty and help. If you'd like to swing by and grab any equipment drop us an email or give us a call (we'll be checking message along the way). IMPORTANT! If you or your family are experiencing any hardship that we can help with, please REACH OUT! Drop us a message or email, and of course it will all be in the strictest of confidence. It's easy to do the right thing when everything is going well. The real test, as a club and community, is when the tough times hit. So look after each other, be safe, and I'll see you on the virtual mats! Sensei Darryl

17.01.2022 A message from Sensei Darryl (and myself) A MASSIVE thank you! Hi Shukokai Dojos Family. I've been absolutely blown away by the support we are getting from the students and families at the club.... Although we are all still operating in the unknown, the common sense I'm hearing around the club is refreshing. I think we will find this is the new "norm" for the next few months. To those who are continuing to train, rest assured that we are maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene, as well as best practice with social distancing. To the students and parents who have made the decision not to train, but have left their training fees running, you are AMAZING! This will probably be the difference between the club being around in the next few months or not. For those people, to help you with training at home, if you'd like to borrow some of the equipment so you can practice at home, just drop by and see reception. If youd prefer to buy your own we can arrange that too! We'll be commencing our live streaming of all classes from Monday. On top of this, we'll be posting up tutorial videos for students to work on techniques. I'll do a seperate post of how we'll manage the stripe assessments and gradings closer to grading date (once I figure it out haha). All Shukokai Dojos clubs will be putting out videos and information online, and since we are one big family, these will be shared around. You'll have HEAPS of content and material to practice. I know we are not the only small business / employment that is going to be hit hard. Some of you will be having hours cut, or even look at losing your jobs. We are here to look after each other. If you are in a tight position, come and see us. It's more important that we keep some semblance of normality in our, and especially our children's, lives right now. We want you on the mats!!! As always, if you want to have a chat, or if we can help at all, reach out to us! Together we've got this! Sensei Darryl See more

08.01.2022 A Message from Sensei Darryl .... Corona Update... Hi Shukokai Dojos Family, I hope this finds you well.... Firstly, I'd like to give a huge thanks to the students and families who are continuing their support of the club. We are committed to being here with, and for you. You may have seen the Prime Minister's address this morning on the news. Whilst things are certainly getting more serious, I actually feel confident that the Government is looking after it the best they can, juggling so many factors. The Government has made the decision to keep schools open. (With my limited knowledge) this makes sense to me. Having family in Emergency Services and Health Services, I can see how having the children at home would take so many vital people out of their workplace where we need them the most. At this stage we are still following the Education department guidelines for being open, and will keep classes going as long as it is reasonably safe and practical to do so. The remaining gradings will run as planned (please refer to your grading form for details. These times and days are still current). To reduce social distancing where possible we ask that you watch the grading via our livestream. We will also have the roller door open so youll be able to watch from there. We will be carefully monitoring numbers in the dojo. Classes will run as per normal, with the strict hygiene standards we've been adhering to in place, plus some other precautions. The best advice we have so far is that the virus is spread either through direct contact, or through being in a "conversation" distance with someone who is infected for around 15 minutes, or in a workplace / office environment for 2 - 3 hours. With classes being run in the format we are (non contact, extra spacing between students, hand sanitation / disinfectant wipes), and particular attention paid to "social distancing" (where possible staying 1.5 meters or more away from others), we can mitigate much of that. From next week, we will be live streaming classes into our Facebook group. We will also start the online tutorials to help with home learning and keeping up with curriculum. This will also enable parents to watch the classes from your cars on you phone, negating the need to be sitting with others in the foyer. We would ask you that where possible you drop your kids off (they will need to be collected from reception). Let's keep working together both on and off the mats, to get through this strongly as a community.

08.01.2022 Orange belt grading well done Ambber & Kristoffer (& Mitchell)

07.01.2022 Congratulations Sunil on completing your first Weapons course. Thank you Sensei Michael for welcoming our students
