20.01.2022 A few months ago I was privileged with the opportunity to travel to the Tiwi Islands for a week with AFL footballers Tom Bellchambers and Jake Melksham to make a documentary regarding football (AFL) in Tiwi, thanks to Next Gen Mini’s. Some of the most talented footballers - the Rioli's and the Long's to name a few - have all come from the small, remote island off of the Northern Territory, the Tiwi Islands, with a total population of 2,579. In a place that is rather isolated and logistically difficult to commute to, this indigenous community is footy obsessed. Only a few get the chance to showcase their talent on the big stage and perform at the elite level of AFL. Watch now to learn about the way of life and the love of football in the Tiwi Islands.
