13.01.2022 GRATITUDE AND THE BRAIN #gratitude People believe that practicing gratitude is just new age "stuff". But there is scientific evidence that it is indeed beneficial.... When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions, and they make us feel ‘good’. They enhance our mood immediately, making us feel happy from the inside. Why is this super important? Because we can create this by ourselves, without depending on external factors. By consciously practicing gratitude everyday, we tilt our thinking and perception in a more positive way. You consciously change the way you think of yourself, others, and your environment. #addictionawareness #shuvhomsi #addiction #Counsellor #addict #drugaddiction #drugs #givingbackaustralia #muslimdruginterventionist #islamicdruginterventionist #getoffdrugs #personalgrowth #drug #druginterventionist #drugintervention
08.01.2022 WHATEVER WORKS Here’s an interesting thought. Since when did not giving a shit, lend itself to cultivating more oomph in your life? In a lot of the work that I do with my clients, I often talk about this thing called, ‘the state of whatever.’ ... As bizarre as it sounds, really comes down to our ability to let go. So if someone you know and respect takes it upon themselves to criticise you, in whatever shape or form, chances are you’re not gonna like it. But the thing is, we all have ample opportunities throughout our lives to be triggered’ by the words and actions of others. Whether we accept those invitations is up to us. We can jump into defence mode (and believe me, I’ve been there), OR we can choose to harness the state of ‘whatever’ and recognise, that’s their world, not yours. People pleasing and wanting to be liked/approved of are perfectly natural human behaviours, but at the same time, they do not serve us when taken to the extreme. And this is where the beauty of ‘whatever’ comes in So have a think - how do you think you can start to harness the state of ‘whatever’ in your own life? #addictionawareness #shuvhomsi #addiction #Counsellor #addict #drugaddiction #drugs #givingbackaustralia #muslimdruginterventionist #islamicdruginterventionist #getoffdrugs #personalgrowth #drug #druginterventionist #drugintervention

05.01.2022 HAVE YOU NOTICED YOUR PHONE USE GOING UP? If you're finding yourself scrolling and retreating into your phone instead of engaging with the world, there are good reasons why. Little brain chemical-shaped reasons! ... When we're stressed, our brain goes in search of things that will instantly pick us up - regardless of whether those things actually help us, or ultimately make us more stressed. Those dopamine hits are strong - and they keep coming. Every notification, interaction... the mindless scrolling is a desperate search for the next 'hit' of reward. But, as you'll have noticed, those hits are short-lived and we instantly want more. Which is why it's SO addictive. What can you do? Recognise it. Ask if it's serving you - or would exercising a different choice be better? Find ways to put boundaries in place Give it purpose. Reframe screen time as focused work time. Replace the need for dopamine with longer-acting, more satisfying 'fun', movement & real connection. And give yourself a break! Recognise it's a sign that life might be feeling a bit overwhelming. See if you can find ways to dial down the stressful stuff - and that includes not being too hard on yourself for something that really isn't the end of the world #addictionawareness #shuvhomsi #addiction #Counsellor #addict #drugaddiction #drugs #givingbackaustralia #muslimdruginterventionist #islamicdruginterventionist #getoffdrugs #personalgrowth #drug #druginterventionist #drugintervention
01.01.2022 BEING YOURSELF IN A WORLD TRYING TO MAKE YOU LIKE ANYONE ELSE Every individual is unique, has his/her own lives roads and choices. individuals can live together, be in agreement but never can be integrated. I think you have heard about "herd effect" or "crowd psychology". That is about how others' thinkings or behaviors impact ourselves'. ... When we are in uncertainties or cannot understand/ judge clearly, we tend to follow a crowd or the media. This world is trying to make us like others - in appearances, trends, choices,..., everything. When you follow crowds, you can be blind, lose your character and become a copy, you are like every body in the crowds and can be defeated. To be yourself, you must research, understand, respect, accept, love, be honest with it and treat it well. In any circumstance, have your own judgement, choose a way most proper to you, do whatever you want and think it's right persistently to be happy. Don't let others' denigration effect you. Be yourself, stand out from a crowd, build your personality and your way, go firmly ahead, reach your life goals and happiness. Let's go ! #addictionawareness #shuvhomsi #addiction #Counsellor #addict #drugaddiction #drugs #givingbackaustralia #muslimdruginterventionist #islamicdruginterventionist #getoffdrugs #personalgrowth #drug #druginterventionist #drugintervention
