23.01.2022 "Success lies in being able... to solve complex problems, in being able to adapt and innovate in response to... changing circumstances, in being able to marshal... the power of technology to create new knowledge, in expanding human capacity" #21stCenturySkills #futureofwork
21.01.2022 My new book chapter has just dropped! Boom! Professional Learning Communities are common practice, but it's time to tweak the model for more adaptive education. #PLCs #Teachers #TeacherEd PM me for more info or check it out via: https://link.springer.com/chap/10.1007/978-981-15-4124-7_19
13.01.2022 University and school exams are fast approaching and students need to consider their approach to learning (and maximise their memory). Making explicit connections to prior knowledge along with other strategies can enhance memory #study http://ow.ly/76KQ50wWQ4Z via @ConversationEDU
13.01.2022 Has anyone seen this documentary? @UniCanberra is hosting the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) annual event World Access to Higher Education Day to raise global awareness around inequalities in access and success in #HigherEd https://www.unlikelyfilm.com/
12.01.2022 There are so many cross overs between this concept of a learning compass, agency and self-regulated learning. Great to see this gaining some form of traction at this level. OECD Future of Education and Skills 2030: OECD Learning Compass 2030 https://youtu.be/M3u1AL_aZjI via @YouTube
12.01.2022 During my Human Development class this semester, we discussed the role of attachment in student learning - but what is 'attachment' and how does it affect our relationships? http://ow.ly/Ng0150wWQJw via @ConversationEDU #attachment #learning #edchat #TeacherEd #human
10.01.2022 As I return to Melbourne after a brief stint in Tasmania walking with wombats, sitting with echidnas and hearing the laugh of our famous kookaburras... it truly breaks my heart to think of the large number of wildlife and their habitats that we have lost across Vic and NSW. My heart also goes out to friends and family who have been evacuated from homes across the eastern coast. To my many overseas friends who have reached out to check on us - Thank you for your prayers. It is a sad time, but I am inspired by our fire fighters who are working around the clock to get the fires under control. Much love
10.01.2022 As the 9-to-5 work day disappears, our lives are growing more out of sync. This is a why we need to support students and adults to be effective self-regulators, so they can bring their lives in sync. #reflection #SelfRegulation http://ow.ly/K6J650wWQnU via @ConversationEDU
05.01.2022 You don't say!?! Teens with at least one close friend can better cope with stress than those without http://theconversation.com/teens-with-at-least-one-close-fr via @ConversationEDU #resilience #wellbeing #positivewellbeing #mentalhealth #edchat
05.01.2022 Self-regulation underpins success in life (how one defines success is up for discussion!). There is no doubt that education plays a role in supporting our young people in their development of such skills. How else will they be able to thrive in this ever-changing world ? Or solve the problems that previous generations have created for them (e.g., climate change)? An absolute joy working with @RadfordACT today -It is inspiring to work with teachers who are keen to craft a learning experience for students that genuinely prepares them for the future #selfregulatedlearning #21stcenturyskills #teacherpd
04.01.2022 Inquiry based learning is an evidence-based approach for learning, but it requires a skilled teacher. I am developing my own knowledge in this field - where is your skillset at - Beginner? Intermediate? Developing Expert? #inquiry http://ow.ly/fLgi50wWQuo via @ConversationEDU
01.01.2022 As I extend my field of research to include #wellbeing, I am investigating the #strategies that individuals use to support their wellbeing. Nature in your workplace is one (link) - what other strategies do people use? Beyond Blue www.beyondblue.org.au//how-nature-in-the-office-can-improv
