24.01.2022 CLEMENTINE NET MAKES PERFECT FASCIA Myofascia is the fascia separating and encasing every single one of our muscles! Its a dense, fibrous tissue that can te...nd to get adhesions or stuck areas otherwise known as knots over time & with injury. Since our fascia is connected from our head to our toes, you can see that these adhesions can absolutely limit mobility and cause pain in different areas of the body. Myofascial release techniques are my favorite to use for that widespread, dull & achy pain. You wont realize how good your body can feel until you get a massage. Credit: @karli_onyxspa

21.01.2022 We must be careful not to oversimplify pain by placing all of the blame on the tissues of the physical body. Each persons pain experience i...s unique and can be influenced by any combination of the factors shown here. However, it can be easy to forget this in a world of quick fixes and simple remedies. Pain researcher, Dr. Lorimer Moseley, PT, PhD, summed things up well when he said, The biology of pain is never really straightforward, even when it appears to be.

20.01.2022 Hallux Valgus (bunion) is a deformity seen in the first metatarsal as it gets deviated medially with lateral rotation of the hallux. It is of ...higher incidence in females than males with a ratio of 2:1 to 4:1. About 70% of patients with Hallux Valgus have a positive family history. Treatment can be opertaive and non-operative. Operative treatment is by surgical correction and is demonstrated in the before and after pictures shown here. Non-operative treatment usually includes modification of an individuals shoes including choosing shoes with a wider toe box to reduce medially directed force on the toe. Additionally, mobilization and stretching techniques directed at improving mobility of the big toe (1st MTP) and ankle joint can help to reduce pain and improve function. 1Dorsal Mobilization: Stabilize the the 1st metatarsal and slide the proximal bone of the big toe in a dorsal direction. For mobilizations designed to increased mobility, you want to take the joint to its end position and oscillate there for 30-60 seconds. This can be performed 4-5 times. 2Dorsiflexion Stretch: Use a rolled towel or other accessory like this cool unit from @fasciitisfighter to position the big toe in dorsiflexion. Take the stretch to a tolerable intensity that can be maintained for several minutes. Joint tissue takes longer than muscle tissue to respond to stretch, so these longer hold times are important when looking to impart more permanent changes range of motion. 3Motor Control - Set your foot next to a line and then focuses on extending and abducting your toe so you move toward the line. By training abductor hallucis in this way, a person can learn to consciously maintain neutral toe alignment and may be able to slow worsening of their bunion. Video from @gaithappens.

18.01.2022 Dear clients, I am a massage therapist who works in close, non-casual contact. In an effort to keep my clients safe, I have been closely monitoring developments regarding COVID19, both locally and overseas. I have made changes to the way I practice, implementing enhanced infection control and screening procedures. ... I am also working hard to support and disseminate the public health messages released by the Department of Health and WHO. However, as a conscientious and caring health practitioner, I recognise that these efforts are not enough to fully protect my clients or myself from the risk of contracting COVID-19 or do they provide adequate containment of the virus. The nature of my practice makes it impossible for me to observe the mandated requirement to practise social distancing I have direct contact with every one of my clients for anywhere between half an hour to 2 hours, which is clearly a high-risk situation for all parties. As a potential vector for the spread of the virus, I want to be able to act now and play my part in containing the spread in my community. I HAVE DECIDED TO ClOSED Siam remedial &Thai massage business for COVID-19 until thing get better. STAY SAFE EVERY ONE. TAKE CARE & ALL THE BEST EVERY ONE Yours sincerely, Fon Siam remedial

I am performing this test on a woman who had recently suffered a cerebral vascular accident (CVA) or stroke. Test 2: Patellar deep tendon reflex (L3/4). Result: Grade 3+ Hyper-reflexive (positive for UMN involvement). Test 3: Hoffmans Sign = positive for UMN involvement (adduction of thumb & flexion of fingers).

16.01.2022 UPDATE FOR METRO MELBOURNE MYOTHERAPY SERVICES In a response this morning from the Department of Jobs, Precincts and regions MA have been advised as follows: We are aware of the position of your association and other non-AHPRA allied health associations over the current restrictions and have been liaising with DHHS on the options for your sector to open up. ... This morning's slight easing of restrictions made some minor changes to allied health and associated services although we note that they did not directly include Myotherapy. Please refer to the latest permitted industries list: http://ow.ly/TTGm50BVLR1 SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MYOTHERAPY? At this stage, we can only interpret this as NO CHANGE for myotherapy. A far cry from what we were lead to believe in the lead up to yesterday's announcement from Premier Dan Andrews stay strong

15.01.2022 - Single-leg stability is essential to many general life tasks and sport-related skills. Whether you are looking to reduce your risk of i...njury or are rehabbing from a current lower extremity injury, the exercises shown here may be helpful to implement into your regular training program. 1Band Static Balance: In this exercise, the leg on the ground is being pulled medially by the band wrapped around the moving leg. A certain degree of single-leg stability must be possessed in order to maintain neural leg alignment. Perform 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps. 2DynaDisc Balance: The DynaDisc is used often in ankle rehabilitation research and is a great way to work single-leg stability in general. Shoot for 3 sets with a 30-45 second balance hold. 3Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT): The SEBT is a great test and can serve as an excellent exercise for improving single-leg stability. Place tape on the ground as shown, stand on the injured leg and reach with the uninjured leg as far as you can along each tape line without touching the foot to the ground. Work through the star 3-5 times. 4Lateral Step Down: This exercise requires a good deal of single-leg strength and control. Sit back into the movement and work to keep the knee aligned over the 2nd and 3rd toes. Shoot for 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps. 5Single-Leg Squat: A great exercise for working many of the major muscles of the lower extremity and a great way to improve your stability on one leg. Perform 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps.

08.01.2022 We are open! Book now : 0466220848 #MassageTherapy ... It Reduces Stress Not only can massage therapy help with stress relief, but regular massage sessions over a prolonged period of time can boost energy levels, reduce pain, and stimulate individuals on physical as well as emotional level.

08.01.2022 We face uncertain times in our current environment due to the COVID -19 VIRUS. I remind you that Massage Therapy, in fact can assist in boosting your immunity due to the biological response it creates within the body after a massage. A higher level of immunity can reduce your ability to contract the virus. Even if you are unlucky enough to contract the virus , the greater your immunity is, the greater your ability to fight it will follow. Aside from that a massage can reduce ...any stress you may be feeling as a consequence of the current state of affairs. Currently, I remain open for business. To remain vigilant I constantly review health authorities guidelines on a daily basis and undertake the necessary precautions to consider my clinic to be a safe clean haven for you to be treated. I assure you that apropriate measures are in place to continue treatment like access to hand sanitiser before and after treatment, new fresh clean towels and table covers are used for each individual treatment, common surfaces and equipment are apropriately cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant on a regular daily basis, appointments are spaced accordingly so you dont come into contact with other clients I treat. To further take necessary precautions I kindly ask you to reconsider your appointment if you show signs of ANY infectious illness or immediately become unwell. It is with much regret that I will refuse treatment to anyone I suspect of being unwell in my bid to protect ALL of those I come into contact with. Further to these measures, I also ask if you have travelled overseas recently that you reschedule or make any new appointment outside the 14 days self isolation period. Should you feel the need to cancel further appointments due to the close proximity of contact a massage treatment involves, until such time we are no longer at risk, I respect your wishes and please ask you contact me to advise me accordingly. Please take care during these somewhat overwhelming and uncertain times. Credit: Handsforhealing

06.01.2022 UPDATE: I received the message from Myotherapy Association of Australia advising me that " MA have just been advised the following by AHPA: Advice from Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt. In light of some states shutting down non-essential services, the Minister has confirmed that ALL allied health businesses nationally can continue working and are encouraged to do so. This update is for members information only at this stage. We will share publicly when there is a public statement statement from the minister" However, as Professionals we have to strictly follow the regulation of The Department of Health and Human Services.

05.01.2022 http://chng.it/wBhWstgkYQ adding to Gabrielle Ryan post, this morning we have set up a petition to get us back working. This is a stepping stone to get us recognised as essential and hopefully eventually allied health... I know we have a long way to go to be allied health but we need to start somewhere and making a movement is a good starting point. Please sign and share!
