23.01.2022 - Two elite private universities have told foreign students planning to begin their first year of study that they will likely be barred from entering the U.S. for the fall semester. This week Harvard and the University of Southern California let international students know that they will probably not be granted visas to enter the U.S. Under longstanding federal rules, students in online-only programs are no...t permitted to study in the U.S. We abhor any policies that seek to force us to choose between our community's health and the education of our international students, wrote Rakesh Khurana, the dean of Harvard College, in an email to undergraduates. Both schools are planning virtual programs for undergrads. USC had initially said it would have a blend of online and virtual instruction this fall. But when Covid-19 cases started to spike in California, on July 2 it announced classes may be held entirely online. : https://bit.ly/2CKaMI0 #Study_International #Study_Abroad #HarvardUniversity #USC #Covid_19 #International_Students #SI_Updates

IRCC has said that time spent studying online outside Canada now counts towards the length of a students post-graduation work permit- starting from when they apply for a study permit.... 20.01.2022 - . - Canada released new information yesterday morning on how to obtain a study permit for the fall 2020 academic year.... - 15 . The first stage is much like the regular study-permit process. International students have to submit: letter of acceptance; Certificat dacceptation du Québec (for Quebec students only); proof of funds; proof that they can leave Canada when they no longer have legal temporary or permanent status; and any family ties to Canada. Immigration officers will assess these applications and issue pre-approval at their discretion. International students can begin studying at this stage. 18.01.2022 : . The findings were published in a study led by the University of Technology Sydney which included two surveys as part of the research, one between August and December 2019 and the other between June and July 2020.... They found that although students were facing serious hardship before the pandemic struck, the situation has significantly worsened because of the coronavirus. It is heartbreaking to see this survey. Students are feeling more stranded than ever, and there is no income anymore. Financial hardship needs to be addressed and support has to be there otherwise this will just impact [their] mental health. 16.01.2022 , . : Canada has announced additional measures to support international students beginning a new program online this fall, including fast-tracking study permit processing and introducing a temporary two-stage process for international students who cannot submit all of the requir...ed documentation. The move addresses concerns noted from Canadian institutions that students might enrol, pay and begin their study program online, without knowing for sure that they would receive a study permit in due course. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada said the changes will give students more certainty about their ability to enter Canada once travel and health restrictions are eased. 12.01.2022 , , . Canadas immigration department doesnt recognize virtual marriages for family-class sponsorship, however, foreign spouses might still be able to cross the border.... The rule dates back to 2015. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decided that only Canadian Armed Forces members could sponsor their spouse who they married from a distant location, and only if certain conditions forced the marriage to be done virtually or by proxy. This decision, which is causing some cross-border couples headaches today, was an effort to prevent victims of forced marriage from being eligible for immigration. Proxy marriages facilitate this type of abuse, because neither person has to be present for the solemnization. In simple terms, it is easier to force two people to get married if they are not the ones signing the contract. : https://bit.ly/338uckX #Study_International #MigrateToCanada #Covid_19 #Zoom_Marriges #SI_Updates

08.01.2022 : Very good news this morning out of SA the government has approval to bring 300 SE Asian students in to Adelaide. - - ... South Australian universities are poised to fly in 300 students from Singapore in a national-first pilot program aimed at reviving the $2bn education economy. The flight from Singapore for South-East Asian students is expected to arrive in Adelaide in early September, in a test run for a larger-scale return nationally.
