24.01.2022 I had my first coffee before the grand opening on Monday. Good coffee must start with good plumbing!
21.01.2022 A nice day out in the country at minus 7, with a portable office to extend the adventure.
19.01.2022 New toy added to the fleet! Dry hire available once I sort insurance out.
18.01.2022 Out of all the memes we’ve seen lately surrounding the Corona virus, these have to be our favourites!!
18.01.2022 The boys working hard in this heat practicing their plumber cracks.
18.01.2022 It’s so good to have a great team working with you so you can sneak away from work. This was a lightning strike south of Tamworth this afternoon that won’t be making the news.
16.01.2022 Thank you to all who applied for the apprenticeship, this position has now been filled.
14.01.2022 Greywater diversion of the shower. An advantage of an old house where all the Plumbing is exposed on the outside wall is that you can access the drains. Our shower/bath drain was easily modified to incorporate a diversion valve but it was still too close to the ground to put a container under it. So I ran with the 150mm pipe as storage theory and it worked a treat. We can have a shower at night and then drain the pipe the next day when I have time to distribute the water pro...perly. Remember don’t store Greywater for more than 24hrs. With 4 of us we are getting over 100 litres a day and the soaps aren’t as aggressive as washing machine water so I’m looking at putting in a permanent Greywater diversion system for the shower. Stay tuned for the results of my research on diversion systems. I also have been talking to our local Council which are our local water authority, so stay tuned for the results of what we can and can’t do. Plumbing tip: some toilets need a helping hand to get everything to where it is supposed to be, so removing the shower water can remove that helping hand.
14.01.2022 No more bucketing! I’ve purchased my permanent Greywater diversion system. Due to this Summer predicting to be another long dry one I’ve decided to put my investment in Greywater instead of Rainwater. The dog is going to miss it but as I’ve learnt in my research, animals and Greywater should not play together.
12.01.2022 Peeps we may be blessed with the forecast for rain this coming Friday. Our trails will be absolutely mint come Sunday! The rain couldn't be coming at a better t...ime. 08.01.2022 Saturday arvo sitting out on the verandah having a cold beer watching the rain. It’s been a long time waiting.
08.01.2022 By the look of the toilet paper aisle, plumbers are going to be busy!
05.01.2022 Greywater! The new craze to hit our drought stricken towns. As I go on my own personal journey of trying to keep plants and lawn alive I thought I would share what I learn about Greywater use. As usual start with some googling and it didn’t take long to confirm that Greywater can be dangerous both to our gardens and our health.
05.01.2022 Greywater diversion of washing machine water temporary. Pros: A washing machine is a pre made storage container with a pump. Easy! You can run a hose out and walk away whilst it does its thing Our front loader uses 68 litres per cycle, 3 times a week, 204 litres/week... Did I mention easy? Cons: A washing machine pump is designed to pump approx 2 metres in length and only 1m in height so very easy to do damage to your machine As clothes washing detergent is quite strong the water does have high concentrates of chemicals Only 204 litres/week I’m not sure if Council allows us to do this without treatment. Stay tuned. How I have done my washing machine water. As I have an old laundry and do not really care about it, I was able to drill a hole as high as possible through the wall so I could gravity feed to the lawn. I ran the drain line as a proper drain not as a hose extension thus relieving the pressure off the washing machine pump I installed a length of 150mm pipe along the fence (ugly and temporary) which can store 106 litres or a full wash cycle in case a hose kinks or similar and hopefully not flood my laundry I put a valve on the end so I can store the water (up to 24hours only) then I can direct the water to the critical areas when I have time. Ran a 20mm hose off the end that I move around the grass. I don’t put it on my garden. Disadvantage of this is I cannot easily bypass back to the drain in case I have contaminated loads and I have no head pressure to spread the water more evenly. Plumbing Tip Air flow is just as important as water flow, you can’t have 1 without the other. Feel free to share with us your Greywater diversion designs
03.01.2022 SIddons Plumbing can’t fix this leak. Joel the work experience kid is trying to plug it though.
03.01.2022 Finding plenty of places to continue plumbing and keep 1.5m apart.
