18.01.2022 A big happy birthday to our first litter, 7/6/16. Where has the time gone. Happy 4th birthday to all 8 beautiful 4 legged babies.
17.01.2022 I'm wanting to apologise to those who are sending puppy and breeding requests. Duke had major surgery on Friday night, at this stage he is still critical. We are hoping he pulls through and at the moment he is our main priority. So please understand that breeding at this stage is far from our mind, as he is our furbaby first and therefore requests may go unanswered. A big thank you to Furkids vet for being a part of his recovery team and supporting us through this tuff time, and long road ahead. Thank you, hoping things will get back to normal soon, fingers crossed, Sieghard Stud.
16.01.2022 Just a quick post we had a bit of a scary afternoon (yep Duke again). He decided to take on an eastern brown. We are lucky this time in that either he had a dry bit or maybe wasn't bitten. Please be careful, it's better to be safe than sorry and go to the vet. Snakes are out there at the moment so please be careful. There are some snake catchers out there that do brilliant work, if necessary so please don't risk your life or your pets. This one was killed by Duke, but we have only found the tail end, still no head end, so still not sure what has happened. Moral, please be careful and stay safe.
15.01.2022 Pepper had her confirmation ultrasound earlier this week. It is with great sadness that she's unfortunately empty. Fingers crossed that our luck changes next year.
14.01.2022 Duke update: Duke has now had 2 major surgeries, to save his life. He's looking very underweight, but is now out of the death zone, thank goodness. He thinks his throat is being cut as he's only allowed to have 1 table spoon of food every hour, yes even through the night, because he had 7 incision points in his intestine and stomach. All of this because he decided to devour a killer pillow that we had no idea while we were sleeping. We are very grateful to Furkids vet at... Greenbank for looking after him. After the first surgery to remove 110 cm of pillow stuffing from his intestine and stomach, his capillary refill was delayed and he became jaundice, so he had to be on daily fluids. He had to then have emergency surgery again Thursday last week, as there were two pin head sized lesions that was leaking into the abdomen. He did scare us again on Tuesday as he started leaking fluids out of his stitches, but it turned out to be fluid retention. He's doing well and on the long road to recovery, which will be at least another 3 months or so. Therefore we are still not thinking about puppies, as he's still needing to be cared for around the clock, and our main priority. There are photos in the comments of the stuffing removed by Dr Jo.
12.01.2022 A very big happy birthday to the furbabies from our 2017 litter. Hope your fur parents spoil you rotten.
12.01.2022 Pepper's first meeting with "Fordi" today, unfortunately she is not ready for mating as yet, although i think she likes him
11.01.2022 Warning: we are blunt in this post, but we honestly can’t stress how dangerous paralysis ticks are and they are causing us all sorts of heartbreak so please ple...ase please take note. The reason we decided to work in the veterinary industry has nothing to do with money, not the accolades not the appreciation - because let us assure you, there’s nearly not enough to make up for the heartbreak we suffer on a daily basis when our advise on basic tick prevention isn’t heard loudly enough. We love your Furkids, we love our jobs, what we hate is seeing your babies die or have to be euthanased due to a lack a Bravecto or Nexgard. No longer is there a decent excuse for tick paralysis.... the medications are out there and there is NO excuse for animals having to suffer. So if you’re not on monthly nexgard spectra for everything PLEASE get a Bravecto on board and get them covered for at least 4 months for ticks. Despite there being tick serum available, it’s incredibly expensive, and tick treatment puts a lot of stress and risk on a tick-affected animal’s body. It’s not an easy out, and sadly not guaranteed to get them out of danger. Flea treatment alone simply is NOT enough - when they won’t kill - they’ll still give a tick 72 hours and we are looking at a dying animals that despite all our efforts may NOT live!! Please do the right thing. If you have a pet, this message is for you. We are heartbroken each and every time we have to euthanase an otherwise perfectly healthy animal that’s been bitten by a tick when there’s something that could have been done. Please be vigilant and take this seriously.
07.01.2022 Not ducks, bones. Yep I think one of our dogs has OCD. If it took one, it was put back in the same spot, if one was kicked out, it got really upset and it was put back. Then the guarding of them so they weren't moved. So guess who's got OCD.
06.01.2022 This is Duke's grandfather, and the puppies great grandfather, this name will not appear on the puppies pedigree papers though
