24.01.2022 A welcome message for Mr Kav- On behalf of the Siena staff, students and families we would like to officially welcome you to the Siena community. Over the past week or so we have had many staff and students submitting their message to you, we have wrapped it up into one video to welcome you to the community. In the wise words of St Catherine of Siena, Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring. Our journey has begun and a new chapter awaits us with the prosperity and hope of new life. We thank you for your guidance and light so far and look forward to what this new chapter entails, a story that has a strong vision, love and courage. Thank you to all the staff and students involved in the video, and to Tina & Gen for coming up with the idea. And a very big thanks to Ms Brennan for putting it together!
23.01.2022 Here at Siena, we encourage parents/carers who have children walking or riding to school or parents/carers who are looking at ways to make this practical and safe, to take a look at the ‘Give It A Go’ flyer. Siena will be working with Bicycle Network Victoria, children and parents during term 3 and 4. Jane McErlain will coordinate this and continue to communicate with you via the newsletter.

14.01.2022 At Siena, we are a SWPBS: School-Wide Positive Behaviour School. To support this, we have introduced a school-wide raffle ticket system. When teachers observe students showing safety, being responsible and being respectful as well as showing characteristics of our vision statement, they earn a raffle ticket. At the end of 5 weeks, the raffle tickets are calculated and the House Team with the highest amount of tickets receive an extra 5 minutes of play. Students who received the most amount of tickets across the school are rewarded with a special lunch with Mr Kav. On Friday, we had our first 10 students enjoy their lunch in the boardroom with Mr Kav and they had a great time! Well done to the students at Siena for earning over 360 tickets as a school! 07.01.2022 Tomorrow, Friday 30 October, students & teachers will be involved in Socktober Day. This day is a fundraising activity for Catholic Mission. Donations this year will be going to Cambodia to help people living in poverty. On Socktober Day students can wear the colours of their favourite sporting team (any sport) as well as some colourful socks if they wish. Each class will be allotted approximately 20 mins to come out to the turf for a penalty shootout with their teacher as the goalkeeper using a homemade soccer ball made of socks. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to go towards Catholic Mission for 'Socktober Day'.
07.01.2022 RUOK Day reminds us to check in on our self-care and the care of others. You might like to start the day with a ReLaTE Community Circle, as our students and staff have become familiar with recently, to check in with themselves and one another: 1. How are you feeling? (This question encourages emotional identification and helps us to express feelings with words and grounds us in the present) 2. What is your goal for the day? (This question builds a bridge from the present to the future) 3. Who can you ask for help if you need it? (People can often forget that they can reach out and rely on other people)
