04.01.2022 I just wanted to acknowledge Ray, the girl’s grandfather for his time serving our country Australia as a Soldier and a Federal Police Officer. He served 6 years in the Army from 1972 to 1978. He began training as a Parachute Rigger, but the Army decided that he should do the Parachute course first, he completed this and graduated as an Army Parachutist. However, before he commenced this course, he was involved in a major motor vehicle accident which left him badly smashed u...p. His left side requiring 3 operations on his leg and ankle. After 3 years recuperation he was posted to Field Force Command (HQ 6th Task Force). He was involved in a range of duties whilst deployed to HQ 6th Task, one of which was going out with the infantry battalions on bush exercises, which he loved immensely. After completing 6 years of Army service he left to join the Commonwealth Police which after a force amalgamation became the Australian Federal Police. One of his first deployments with the AFP was a secondment to Interpol Canberra for 2 1/2 years. After 3 1/2 years in Canberra he transferred to the Brisbane office where he trained as a Legal Adjudicator, and later being appointed the OIC Legal Services for the Northern Region. His last 3 years of AFP service saw him deployed to Intelligence where he was employed as an Intelligence Analyst and Team Leader. For his combined service he was awarded the Australian Defence Medal, Nation Medal with a further 10-year clasp (25 years service), the National Police Service Medal and the Australian Federal Police Service with 20-year clasp He was also awarded the Australian Army Parachute Wings. A big shout out to all who have served our country. Thank you very much. Lest we forget.
