21.01.2022 Sikh Gurdwara Bennett Springs have some inspiring plans for the WA Sikh community and it’s wonderful to see a $250,000 Community Development Grant from the Scot...t Morrison (ScoMo) Government making them a reality! Classrooms are being built for Punjabi language, cultural awareness, music and religious classes - and seminar space for events aimed at spreading information on important issues like parenting and domestic violence prevention. I was lucky enough to enjoy their generous hospitality at a recent event marking this exciting stage in their future, with vibrant entertainment and delicious food.

15.01.2022 Community spirit unites people and never more so than in difficult times - in my job, I see this time and time again!!! Yesterday, I joined volunteers in the ki...tchen at Sikh Gurdwara Bennett Springs - Perth, WA. as they prepared home-cooked vegetarian meals for those in need. The free meals program began at the start of the pandemic and so far more than 12,000 wholesome dinners have been cooked, packed and delivered!!! Food is donated to the Sikh temple where twice a week, a family of volunteers cook and pack the meals to be distributed by not-for-profit organisations. Sikh Gurdwara Perth President Navtej Kaur Uppal said the sharing of food and volunteer service were core beliefs of the Sikh faith. Donations of long-grain Basmati rice, raw kidney beans, cooking oil and 500ml containers are needed!!! Currently, sugar and flour are not required. The project has received funding from the City of Swan COVID-19 Community Response and Relief Grants Scheme.
