23.01.2022 Congratulations to club members Tex and Bundy on a great milestone. http://www.smh.com.au//bundy-the-biker-dog-who-has-clocked

23.01.2022 We pray for a safe outcome for our fellow submariners. https://www.reuters.com//search-continues-for-missing-arge

21.01.2022 I’m sitting here pondering what to write as the National Presidents final Christmas message and have hit a wall. I reflect over the past 12 months and look for all the good things that has occurred within the club and there are heaps to mention but my mind wanders to what has happened that has not been that great. One of the stalwarts of the SAA, Norm Williams springs to mind and the struggle he his going through with cancer (and a prognosis that is not that great) and I refl...Continue reading

18.01.2022 https://give.everydayhero.com//tex-and-bundy-s-charity-tv- G'day All, For sometime now Bundy & I have been working behind the scenes with P.O.W. Hospital (Ran...dwick NSW ) as an Ambassador for their Delta Therapy Dog Program. I am particularly interested in the Spinal injury unit and the Motorcyclists that unfortunately end up in there. I have visited several patients in the Spinal ward and have witnessed first hand how much difference it makes to the patients when they can talk to a fellow motorcyclist and see the smiles on their faces when they spot a therapy dog let alone a famous motorcycling Therapy dog. Bundy and I cannot do this forever, we need to raise funds to train & obtain more Therapy dogs and Handlers to continue on with this work. If you have been a Hospital patient and have had a Therapy dog visit you, I bet that made your day and took the worry and stress off your mind for awhile. Those that have been fortunate enough to have seen a Therapy dog & their handler at work in a Hospital whilst they have been visiting would understand. Hospitals can be a lonely place for a patient, especially one with life threatening or life altering injuries, to be able to "bend" an ear, to be able to smile, to pat a dog, all this & more can make a huge difference to a patient and it certainly helps in the mental attitude to the healing process. I know only too well through the many hospital visits that Bundy & I have done the difference it can make. Bundy & I are endeavouring to raise $10,000 dollars that goes direct to P.O.W. Hospital. These funds will make a difference to fellow motorcyclists now and in the future. Please donate, press on the link at the top of this page and make a difference. Thank you! See more

10.01.2022 Hi all A request from Justin (Pony) Moore - Command Warrant Officer Submarine Force for anyone with a supplier that can produce a Australian Submarines / Dolp...hin flag or similar to be hung from a motorbike during a charity ride. Please contact me so that I can pass your or your supplier details on? Perhaps our Silent Service Motorcycle Club (Tony Masters??Tex O'grady) might want to get involved? Please see text for full details below MESSAGE FROM PONY G’day Terry, Great to catch up last week. PO Dean Gilchrist (Cc’d) will be participating in the charity event ‘The Long Ride’ commencing in May. He has been approved to fly an Australian Submarines / Dolphin flag or similar from his motorbike to represent Submariner support of the event, the trouble is we don’t have anything like this. Do you have any ideas or know anyone who could provide? Pony Justin Moore Command Warrant Officer Submarine Force MESSAGE FROM DEAN (GILLIE) GILCHRIST Good Morning Sir, Terry So the plan at the moment is to take part in the Long ride in support of Prostate Cancer, this is a Ride from all capital cities around Australia to Darwin; all of the current routes being ridden by each state is on the Long Ride 2019 web page found on the following link’s (I will admit they explain the event in detail better than I could inclusive of the reasoning behind the ride) This years event will be leaving for the WA members from Swan Valley on the 11 May arriving on the 18th May in Darwin. The event is fully supported by CDF, and funded individually by the riders taking part. I have joined with the long ride charity page on the everyday hero site, through the ride we also stop at Men Sheds to have a chat with the various members of this organisation raising awareness for the need for Prostate Cancer awareness and just a good meet and greet for the members of the Men Sheds. https://thelongride2019.everydayhero.com/au/dean (www.longrideaustralia.com)

10.01.2022 A sad event and in our thoughts.

09.01.2022 Anyone seen or used this?

04.01.2022 Well it looks like the worst for the ARA San Juan and her crew. Whilst we have the "it would never happen to us" attitude and I'm sure the crew had the same, you just never know what can happen in an environment as hostile as that a Submariner works in. If the loss is factual, all I can hope is that the end was merciful and swift. On behalf of the SSMCC members I pass my condolences on to the families of our fellow brothers and sisters and feel and share their pain. I know exactly how they feel as I was on OTAMA when we lost two brothers to the deep so share a real empathy them. May they "rest in peace".

03.01.2022 Team, Ray Kemp posted today that a fellow Submariner is facing hard times and is in serious risk of losing his domicile (home for the mullets). As a consequence Ray started a Go Fund Me page for people to donate to if they wished to help. On your behalf the SSMCC Executive agreed to and consequently donated $500 to this worthy cause to help a fellow Submariner out. Thanks guys - appreciated. You can see more information in the below link. Cheers... Des https://www.gofundme.com/help-out-an-onslow-lad

02.01.2022 Team, I feel the need to give a huge shout out to our very own Raymond (Ray) Kemp. Early last year (2018) I applied for a TPI, after being informed by my GP an...d Shrink that I wasn’t suitable for the workforce. The reason given for the rejection for a TPI was - I wasn’t working at the time - regardless that the GP and Shrink advised me not to work. I mentioned this in a conversation to Ray at the 2018 SUBCON in Newcastle and he suggested that I look for work, then reapply, with him representing me as my Advocate. Being a good little lad, I did as he advised. I then reapplied, this year, for a TPI. On 11 July 19 Ray submitted my application and just over a month later, today 27 August 19, I’m informed that my application has been approved, with effect 11 July 19. What made me chuckle a bit was they took the recommendations provided by my medical team, back in 2018, as the reason for granting the TPI even though they rejected them in the first instance. So from me a huge Well done Raymond Kemp and thank you very much. See more
