25.01.2022 Class 2 had their Measurement Olympics yesterday to finish off our measurement unit. We opened our Olympics with a torch ceremony, before the students completed events to measure length, capacity, volume and area. We made paper planes and measured the distance, completed a water challenge plus other events, all while consolidating our understanding of measurement. The closing ceremony consisted of passing the torch one more time and a medal ceremony. It was so much fun ! Kyra, Jess and Clare

24.01.2022 Today year 2 enjoyed a workshop with Goat Track Theatre. We had hilarious fun learning how to be spontaneous through the skill of Improvisation. It was great to see the students going outside their comfort zone.

22.01.2022 Up and about this morning. Lots more to see. We got to touch the starfish and other creatures in the tide pools. The time has flown. Almost time to come home.

20.01.2022 In year 2, children are learning all about marine biodiversity. They made little ecosystems to demonstrate their understanding. Jessica.

16.01.2022 Here are some photos from our year 2 Mother's Day afternoon tea last Friday. Our mums were pampered and waited upon lovingly as they enjoyed a massage, nail painting and yummy food.

15.01.2022 Year 2 Sealife camp. We’ve arrived! First activity is learning about the seahorse kingdom. Our guide is very impressed with how much knowledge the children have. More photos to come. Lauren

14.01.2022 Imaginative play with props and storytelling promotes language development in the early years. At playgroup yesterday, the pre-prep children prepared beautiful stories to share while families enjoyed relaxed craft activities nearby. #silkwoodschool ... #playgroup #earlyyearseducation #inspire #imaginativeplay #creative #language #reading #writing See more

04.01.2022 Today was Munchy Monday in year 2 and we made fruit caterpillars. We created a list of ingredients and a sequence of steps to create a procedural text before devouring our snack. Kyra

03.01.2022 On Tuesday our Prep classes had a visit from Marayka at Natura Education who was excited to teach us about Mini Beasts! We had a fantastic morning getting ‘up close and personal’ with earthworms, meal worms, snails, and whole variety of water bugs. FUN FACT: Did you know that dragonflies lay their eggs in water and the larvae looks like pieces of floating bark??

03.01.2022 Sandra, our E- Learning Manager came into our afternoon sessions with Little Bits. Little Bits is a platform of colour coded building blocks that allow the students to build electronic circuits. Yesterday we were given the components to make a torch. This required planning and problem solving skills to engineer the circuits correctly to work. Some of the groups then invented a circuit with fans, speakers and a power reader. It was priceless to see the students' eyes open wide when they made it work. Kyra

03.01.2022 In year 1, we are very fortunate to have our parents come in and run elective workshops with us. We get to choose what we are interested in learning and our parents share their skills with us! Donna, Tegan and Cynthia.
