First in a forward and backward motion, followed up by changing the direction of the vacuum and sweep across the carpet for a second time. Always Vacuum in a slow, deliberate motion. Rushing to finish will not allow the vacuum to suck up all the imbedded dirt particles. Any dirt that was not picked up by going back and forth should be picked up in the second cross sweeping action.
