25.01.2022 Another weekend done and dusted. More old posts removed to make way for an new lane way and hingejoint to keep the goats out of the neighbours. There was a far bit of bum checking involved too

25.01.2022 Ahhh! give it back! ! Do not eat my glove!! Antics this morning followed by high blood pressure and a strong desire to have a drink.. And to answer your questions... NO it wasnt a goat, it was Miss Melon. YES they were attached to my pants. YES I panicked and thought it was a gorna. Luckily Miss Melon decided that it wasnt to her liking and brought it back up. Upside, Beanie gave me a laugh and the chickens rewarded me with some eggs #badparenting #farmlife #hazardousgloves #donteatplastic

24.01.2022 And cheese production is back on the "almost" daily schedule. Yesterday a lovely paneer and spinach curry and today haloumi for the BBQ. While I am just waiting around I may as well enjoy a goats milk coffee #loveitlocal #didntwalkfar #backyardfarming #seasonalfood

24.01.2022 Over the weekend we put up a garden shed for shelter. Im not sure if they know they can go inside, but the sure love the shade it gives outside. And its only 8.11am. Morning pool collected for compost, and back to cheese making

24.01.2022 Lush green pastures are no good for these girls. Hopefully a day on the rough stuff will balance out their rumen. #fussygoats #presciousmummas

24.01.2022 How did everyone fair from this afternoons storm? Looks like the goats will be eating pomelo and lilly pilly branches tomorrow. 2 broken branches and blocked access to the milking shed. But all safe and dry ;) ... #severestormwarning #nodamage #everyonesafe

23.01.2022 End of season clearing of the beds. I will top up the beds wi5h fresh compost before planting out next week. Now it looks like I have some cooking to do ! #growitlocal #farmlife #springplanting

22.01.2022 Fireweed.. toxic to animals. Some love to eat it and others avoid it. You never can tell, so best to remove it. I dont like chemicals as you probably know, so hand removal is a good option. Ive been spending the last week walking around with a bucket and today I had a helper. #farmlife #mechanicalremoval #regenerativeagriculture #chemicalfree #hardworkpaysoff

21.01.2022 At 3 weeks old Baby Chino is so much bigger than little Oreo and TBone. It is amazing the difference a single lamb can have over twins. Chinos mum is also much bigger than Merri. But not having to share milk is massive! but they are happy and healthy and starting to do little jumps in the air. #loveitlocal #homegrownfun #twinnings #backyardfarming

21.01.2022 Little but of late arvo fun thanks to a random visit from my nephew. He was a good sport using a less than optimal set of shears. I hope the shaking has stopped this morning This is how we old folk party now

20.01.2022 You have to wake up before the chickens if you want to make pate #homemadefood #cheaperandhealthier #farmsteading

20.01.2022 Someone got a new toy and is off to slash a paddock. The horses have been in and needs some tidy up before it gets a rest. #regenerativefarming #newtractor #redgoesfaster

20.01.2022 Mid afternoon pats with Coco. Getting bigger by the day. Last year she had triplets and Im guessing possibly the same this year by the size of her. Only time will tell #coconub #farmlife #backyardfarming #goatmilk

20.01.2022 A terribly tough day today on the farm as we lost all 3 of Cocos kids. A breach position is never easy to manage and more so when there are triplets all vying for position. Coco seems to be doing well so far and graciously gave up her milk. This rich colostrum will go into the freeze for future orphans. Newborns need this boost of nutrient rich highly beneficial gut health to protect their fragile bellies. #RIPnubs #coconub #colostrum

20.01.2022 Slow consistent moves and we will get there. Fingers crossed sooner rather than later

20.01.2022 Spring is starting to arrive in the front garden. I will need to start putting lavender under the kids pillows so they sleep faster

19.01.2022 Mental note - Do not attempt to oil your trough whilst your kelpie is present. Your products did not come with this warning @handmadebysnk #kelpieantics #recycledpalletproject #upcycling #goatfeeder

18.01.2022 First batch of chevre for the season. Lovely and creamy, sharp and salty. Just the way my crackers like it #cococheese #goatchevre #backyardfarming #loveitlocal

18.01.2022 Morning udder check and lime marmalade bottled #goatdairy #homegrownfun #loveitlocal

18.01.2022 And its mozzarella time! Little River is took to her bottle much better tonight, so feeling slightly more confident of her success in the world. Being a triplet isnt good when the siblings keep outpacing you and pushing you off the boob! #redriverkid #cococheese

18.01.2022 Walking all the way down the back paddock to feed the animals has another benefit (other than exercise).. it comes with breakfast! It also forces me to stop and savour the flavour with each small tart bite. Still early days with only a handful a day, but lets hope we will have some mulberry paste with our Brie this season #childhoodmemories #backyardfarming #loveitlocal

17.01.2022 #lambtics thats antics of lambs

17.01.2022 Meet our three quiet, well mannered kids. We got them from a place called Scribbly Oaks, so we decided to keep a theme going as I like to do with all our offspring. Mum we have nick named Scribbles, then we have our gorgeous girl Red River, our next light girl Mountain Ash and our little boy. The father is a Kalahari Red (meat breed) so they arent full Anglo Nubians (all purpose breed) but I think they will still do well milking And the little boys name - well its Rote. B...ecause Rote-is-he... #rotisserie #loveitlocal #anglonubians #backyardfarming

16.01.2022 Almost there !!

14.01.2022 Our beautiful Bear officially now has offspring! A little boy with a brown spot on his back leg, big and healthy considering the frost on the ground this morning So relieved to know that Bear actually got the job done. Hes Awassi cross East Freisan so we will be able to sell him as there arent many available in Australia. #homesteading #dairysheep #bearcub

14.01.2022 Kids can get quite jealous when siblings are imminent, although I think #beanie is just taking to opportunity to play with mum while she is moderately incapacitated #babynubs #troublekids #crazygoats

13.01.2022 Look how pretty all my feed bins are now thanks to our good friends @handmadebysnk Designed to lift the bins to a better height to support my back. And the individual sections fit neatly in place and levelled up perfectly. Makes feeding a much more enjoyable daily practice.... #recycledpalletproject #upcycling #backyardfarming #goatfeed

13.01.2022 Love your leftovers!! Barbecued corn with leftover goats cheese from yesterdays bbq. Soooo goood!! #nowastedfood #cococheese #eatlocal #backyardfarming

13.01.2022 Happy Fathers day @cogriffo and Pop! Wascally Wabbit 2 ways!! No greens on the plate tonight.. too full from flashback 70s food. Thanks for the reminiscing Grandma xx... #rabbitrillette #rabbitandrosemary

12.01.2022 Apparently my hoarding has finally found a purpose.... that and my love of bubbles More info - we lost the end caps of the clappers (hole diggers) so we stuck in some wine corks #reuse #upcycling #nowastefarming

11.01.2022 Typical children sitting back watching all the work being done. #mumtakingphotos

11.01.2022 I think i like sleeping on this old piece of tin? What do you think kids? Seems Scribbles is settling in and making herself at home. Not sure of the attraction, but what the heck

11.01.2022 A little bit a CRAZY on a chilly Saturday morning #beaniebaby #crazygoats

10.01.2022 Fermented daikon and radish tops with garlic, ginger and turmeric. Cant wait the 2-3 weeks till its ready. Smells divine. #fermentedfoods #backyardfarming #growitlocal

10.01.2022 Rain or shine, I do love my recycled truck tarp hat. I bought this years ago during a visit to Port Macquarie and it is still hanging in strong. #wetanddry #upcycled #farmlife

09.01.2022 I love it when you get a good photo with your animals #cowselfie

05.01.2022 Its time for the Vedeloff!! Up for the challenge is the @oldinnroadwine 2020 and 2019 and @cassegrainwines 2020.... and the winner is???

04.01.2022 One day closer to being powered by the sun! Which will be a nice change from being powered by coffee #renewableenergy #solaredge #homesteading #poweredbythesun

04.01.2022 About a year to the plate for these Pearch.

03.01.2022 Its been another busy day fencing and a big job ahead of us tomorrow to finish off and move in the sheep. Still time to enjoy the strawberry flowers and hang with Miss Melon while she has her afternoon hay. #slowfood #farmlife

02.01.2022 Say hello to our new little venture! No names as yet, these will be our breeding stock. Flemish cross New Zealand, good quiet meaty rabbits.. looking forward to getting some kits soon ;) #newzealandrabbits #flemishgiants #backyardfood #loveitlocal

02.01.2022 Yep a much different track into the milkshed in daylight. Time to ge tthe saw out #severestormwarning #usewhatyouhave #goatfeed

02.01.2022 Goodnight Yall xx

01.01.2022 All my pumpkins and melons I planted before going away are going strong. Even some of the potatoes are starting to pop their heads through the mulch layer. Time to get some compost on top to keep them growing well. #summerproduce #backyardfarming #loveitlocal

01.01.2022 Another day bursting through the clouds. Birdsong coming from the trees and Miss Melon munching lavishly on her morning hay. What a way to start the day? We will ignore the meditative hum of the traffic passing by and put off entering the rush of the day for just a little longer

01.01.2022 Melon likes the fire as much as we do.

01.01.2022 Interesting flower found this morning in paddock 6. Not sure what it is but I am assuming it was brought in my one of the many birds that visit the farm. #yellowflowers #regenrativefarming
