22.01.2022 We're fielding lots of questions about the local government elections. The Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) is taking advice from Queensland Health regardi...ng the impact of Covid-19 on the elections. Based on current advice, the elections will proceed. ECQ has a range of measures to protect voters. People are encouraged to take advantage of pre-polling at St Marys Anglican Church (36 Alice Street, Atherton) and Malanda Co-working and Wellness Centre (19 James Street, Malanda). Tuesday and Friday 9am6pm Wednesday and Thursday 9am9pm Vulnerable voters are encouraged to vote between 9am and 11am each day. Voting on election day, Saturday 28 March, is 8am6pm. Play your part during the elections by acknowledging social distancing, using hand sanitiser, collecting how-to-vote cards from a pile not a person and bringing your own pen or pencil. 16.01.2022 I ask please that you refrain from leaving your gloves and wipes in trolleys or on the ground at the centre for somebody else to pick up and dispose of. It's not too hard to dispose of them yourself. The staff are there to help you and are at a greater risk than others. Lets not increase that. Thank you for your assistance.
