24.01.2022 BESPOKE WINE TOUR: Here's the feedback from our eleven lovely ladies last weekend. Photo starring my favourite main protagonists of the group, Lyn & Jodie, who joined me on the inaugural Vino Express in 2017 and came back with their group of fab friends for a private small group tour this year: "What an amazing tour we had. Eleven women were treated to a fantastic day around Orange and it’s beautiful cellar doors. Kelly’s tours are always a lot of fun. Her knowledge and her a...bility to match the tour to the group is excellent. Thanks Kelly. We’ll be back." Lyn W, Port Macquarie. 24.01.2022 VILLAGE PEOPLE : at this time of year we would have just come back from Italy after hosting our Wild Heart of Italy tours in Ciociaria - and right about now I would be hosting groups of 40 guests twice over two weekends for the Vino Express signature event of the #OrangeWineFestival - This year instead we’ve had the chance to stay in our gorgeous home village of Carcoar and focus on what’s really making our hearts sing at the moment. - Antica Australis, Carcoar... - We are quite literally virtually running our food & wine cultural adventures of Ciociaria as a 4D sensory and immersive experience by serving up ancient dishes and stories. - Fab food writer @myffyrigby writing for Rare Medium magazine recently visited us and said ‘step inside and you’ll be instantly transported to the Italian countryside...be whisked away to Italy without boarding a plane.’ - Our tours are all on hold for now. We’ll take another look at how things are going by mid-2021 for our regional packaged tours & 2022 for our #WildHeartOfItaly adventures. Come and join us in Carcoar instead! . . #anticaaustralis #anticacarcoar #carcoar #carcoarvillage #silvercompasstours #orangensw #orangewineregion #italianrestaurant #notarestaurant #locanda #CiociarianLocanda See more

23.01.2022 ORANGE, NSW: "its proximity to Sydney, abundant local produce and community spirit has seen Orange emerge as one of the hottest destinations on the 2020 travel list." Myffy Rigby, writing for Rare Medium. 22.01.2022 TOP TIPS FOR ROADTRIPS THIS SUMMER. While most of this is fairly tongue-in-cheek there are a couple of really good suggestions in this article. 01... Eat a vanilla slice from the country bakery in every town you pass through. 02 Book ahead - this is not the summer for a spontaneous jaunt wherever the road may take you. It's going to be busy out there. 03 Follow the local COVID-19 regulations. It doesn't matter than no one in the local area has had so much as a sniffle in the last nine months people in rural areas are taking COVID-19 regulations seriously. They don't have the virus, and they don't want it. As a visitor the onus is on you to help ensure they're successful. #summer #roadtrip #orangeNSW #orangewineregion #carcoar read more: https://www.traveller.com.au/summer-road-trip-covid19-the-2

21.01.2022 We're not hosting tours ourselves currently, but that doesn't mean we can't recommend this AWESOME private jet experience to the Orange wine region! especially when it includes our very own Italian locanda Antica Australis, Carcoar in the incredible itinerary The 'Bush + Beach Private Plane Journey' runs from 3-8 May 2021 and has been designed by one of Australia's leading tour designers, Mr Wallace Travel. ... Taking off from Sydney, guests in this luxury small group tour will touch down in Orange to stay at the beautiful Byng Street Hotel with a long lunch at Printhie Wines vineyard. Day 2 focuses on the historic villages of Millthorpe and Carcoar - with interiors & homewares store Tomolly in Carcoar opening just for the group, followed by a long lunch Italian-style at Antica Australis just across the road. The private plane journey then continues to Tamworth, Dubbo and onto Ballina and the entire itinerary just sounds like the kind of once-in-a-lifetime experience you'd be crazy to miss. 21.01.2022 This is an American article but the sense is still the same - there are some important things you now need to consider before going on a trip away during COVID times: 1. Check the current travel restrictions - on 24 July 2020 the NSW Government issued a restriction for tour operators to host groups no larger than 10 people travelling together. Groups of more than 10 are also not permitted to visit hospitality venues together (including pubs, restaurants and cellar doors) and ...children are included in the count. 2. Avoid coronavirus hotspots - this is pretty much anywhere where cases are increasing daily. Don't plan to travel to places where coronavirus is currently spreading and also: it kind of makes sense not to travel at the moment if your suburb of residence or work is currently recording COVID cases. 3. While Australians are still not able to travel overseas, start getting mentally prepared for the day when we are able to jump back onto planes. Travel is not going to be the same. Along with temperature checks at airports you are more than likely going to be asked to present a negative COVID-test no older than 7 days to be eligible to board a flight. It is quite likely that this will become the norm for joining domestic tours in the near future too as we all get used to living with the coronavirus. It's taken quite a lot of the fun and spontaneity out of travel at the moment we agree. But travelling responsibly in small groups of friends or as a couple is still a great way to revive your spirits and continue contributing to smaller communities. read more: https://www.cntraveler.com//9-essential-steps-for-planning

21.01.2022 WEEKEND WINE ADVENTURE! Last weekend we hosted a group of eleven fabulous and fun ladies from Port Macquarie to introduce them to the Orange wine region, most for the very first time. Highlights included starting the day with a sparkling wine tasting at Printhie Wines, a three-course long lunch at Ross Hill Wines and a deep-dive into a number of our boutique wineries without cellar doors represented by Ferment wine bar.... Our driver Jason didn't seem to mind being the token bloke of the group and made sure we alighted our Troopie in mudfree zones at vineyards, thanks Jase! The ladies were truly dedicated to the cause, and have gone back home laden with cases of awesome Orange region cool-climate wine. It was also an absolute treat to host them for a private dinner at our Italian locanda in Carcoar, Antica Australis, Carcoar. 20.01.2022 TAKING A DEEP BREATH : I’ve paused Silver Compass Tours for now. Going into lockdown and losing an entire year’s income in March was tough, but coming out of lockdown has been a WILD RIDE. It was enjoyable for about two weeks, but it’s not any more. It should have been good. It hasn’t been. - I sat down with my business advisor yesterday and we had a good laugh together (because otherwise you’d cry). Business should be booming, I can’t even keep up with the volume of enquirie...s for private small group wine tours. But constantly changing COVID and travel restrictions are becoming too confusing for guests to keep up with or even understand - and for the last four weeks I have been stressed beyond belief. I’m not having fun anymore. So the tours are paused. - For the moment, I’m going to wait now until early 2021 when I can safely start hosting my multiday packaged tours again. It’s what I love. It’s the original vision of Silver Compass Tours. I’m not going to compromise either myself or my business any further. 16.01.2022 ITINERARY DESIGN & HOSTING: Last Friday I personally hosted a more intimate group of four wine and travel connoisseurs, who usually meet up in some of the world's most exotic wine regions each year. This was their first time to the boutique cellar doors of the Orange wine region and it didn't disappoint, with the realisation that it's impossible to cover everything in one weekend. With more than 40 cellar doors there are plenty of great reasons to return, again & again!... ============================ If you would like valuable insight into the Orange wine region and hosted boutique vineyard experiences, contact [email protected] ============================= #SilverCompassTours #SmallGroupTours #WineTours #OrangeWineRegion #OrangeNSW

15.01.2022 Your impact of course can be a force for good, and let me tell you we are SO GRATEFUL here in the Orange wine region and its surrounding small communities for you all visiting us over the last couple of months. It's been a joy to welcome fellow Aussies who had never been to the region before and see you fall in love with it as much as we are. But as we approach what looks like the second wave of COVID, we'd like to ask you consider your visits a little more meaningfully. ... That's not only doing the right things like washing your hands and being happy to sign into venues you're visiting, but also realising that in these days and times it is much safer to travel together in smaller groups of under ten friends and family. My role as a tour operator is to not only have a duty-of-care for my guests, but also for the communities in which we are travelling in. You are literally paying me for my advice. So when I gently suggest your group is too large, or maybe now is not the right time to visit and how about I help you reschedule, it's probably a really good idea to listen. Because I've just spent the last two weeks trying to explain all this to a few determined groups and let's just say...it is far easier to start to organise refunds a couple of weeks before your visit than a couple of days before. just sayin'... 14.01.2022 MUDGEE ONE OF WORLD'S BEST EMERGING DESTINATIONS! In great news for Central NSW, the gorgeous goldrush-era historic town of Mudgee and its surrounding wine region has landed in Tripadvisor's list of top ten emerging travel destinations in the world. We just spent an idyllic weekend in the Mudgee region, and can completely recommend the experience.... On the drive into town make sure you stop off for your very first wine tasting at Skimstone Wines - superb, elegant European style vino. Then it's just a jump across the street to Logan Wines and their delicious sparkling. Don't miss out on grabbing your coffee fix at MrXespresso and beautiful sourdough bread & French pastries from Mudgee Sourdough's ITTY BITTY BREAD SHOP at 113 Church Street. The Cellar by Gilbert in town not only has delightful wines, but the BEST CHEESE BOARDS ever. Make a lunch of it. 13.01.2022 A VERY MERRY FAREWELL TO 2020: wow that was the year that was. - The thing I’ve learnt as a small business owner trying to swim upstream in the middle of a global pandemic: it is IMPOSSIBLE to successfully triage two businesses hit hard simultaneously. - I put Silver Compass Tours back into hibernation in September to help Paolo give everything we had to save Antica Australis, Carcoar... We’ve just won a global Culinary Tourism award for our effort, so it was worth it. And I’ve made the right choice. - Silver Compass Tours is remaining in hibernation for now but I’m working on a new iteration of our food & wine cultural tour packages to launch next year. - For now, I’m resting on my laurels. Come and visit us at Antica Australis in Carcoar sometime soon for a virtual & sensory adventure to Ciociaria through food & stories - WISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY FAREWELL TO 2020 FESTIVE SEASON . . #SilverCompassTours | Wild Heart of Italy

10.01.2022 The boutique hotels in the country NSW travellers are escaping to experience urban chic // Traveller We LOVE that local Byng Street Boutique Hotel in Orange plays a starring role on this list! But now the most elusive commodity appears to be a bed at one of the regional city's flash boutique inns.... Closed borders have forced those of us with the means to travel to look to areas such as Orange, currently enjoying a massive boost in tourism.
