11.05.2022 Silverwood would like to wish a Merry and Joyous Christmas to all. Our harvest for 2021 is now over and the shed door is now closed for the season. Thank you to all who supported us this season. It was our pleasure to provide you with the best cherries we could grow this year. We are looking forward to catching up with you mid November 2022
21.04.2022 Margrove Park (our neighbours) honey is back! Beautiful natural honey from local bees and trees. No additives at all. Prices: 500g- $8 1kg- $15
13.04.2022 And so the season comes around again. Today we packed our first 2021 cherries in boxes. I will be open for shed sales from tomorow, Friday. Hours are 9.00am-5.00pm every day, weekends included. Prices remain the same as last year, Premium: $10/kg or $50/5kg box ... Medium firsts $8/kg ($40/box) none available at the moment Seconds between $2-$3/kg depending on quality Cash only sorry, as I cannot operate card facilities from the packing shed. Hope to see you soon
01.04.2022 This is one of the 5 boxes I have left for this season. So fresh the leaves are still there! Jokes. But they do look festive. Message me if you want to take one or more off my hands. $50 each.
18.03.2022 Its been a whirlwind of a season this year. Just three short weeks ago we picked the first 2020 cherries at Silverwood, and now we expect to pick the last on either Saturday or Sunday! The warm weather has condensed the ripening massively, and we are finishing nearly a week earlier than we predicted. I will have cherries for sale from the Shed door for all of next week, or until I have sold out. If you have ordered cherries from the last pick, I will be contacting you over... the next few days to arrange their pick up. If you want to order some please just message me. On a sad note, Steve and Sue have sold out of the current batch of honey again, but I can take names and phone numbers of those who missed out and pass them on. Thank you to all the happy smiley cherry lovers who have graced our shed door. You are what drives us to grow these goodies in this not so easy environment. Handing over those boxes to appreciative customers still gives me a glow after 18 years of doing it. I still have the best job in the world
24.01.2022 Honey is back! Sue and Steve’s yummy honey is back on the shelf. 1kg bucket is $10 500g tub is $5
23.01.2022 Look at these lovelies, black, huge (that is a fifty cent coin for comparison) and super super sweet. I have about twenty 5kg boxes of these cherries to go. They were picked when very ripe and most likely will not store for more than a week as they are so ripe. This is end of season stocktake sale and the price per box has been reduced from $50 to $40 to clear them so I can turn off my cool room. Message me or give me a call to pick up a post season bargain. These are seriously YUM!
18.01.2022 This says it all. If we, ordinary people, can hang in there and press for change something greater than what we have now (how could it be much worse?) and even greater than what we once had could be achieved. It's worth the fight.
17.01.2022 Wasn’t last Thursday a shocker! We have lost some cherries to heat and wind, but never fear, there are still plenty of lovely to be picked over the next three weeks. I will be open for shed sales every day between now and our last pick. The hours are 9-5
17.01.2022 And there goes our first truck load to Melbourne for packing and then into the supermarkets. There’s some tired pickers tonight, but no time to rest. There’s still a LOT of cherries out there to pick. And, I’ll be open all weekend for cherry sales
17.01.2022 I've had some time to reflect on the 100GL water release announced by David Littleproud yesterday. The more I think about it, the more insulted I feel. The size... of the release, the timing, the fact that farmers have to pay for it instead of being allocated it in the water rights they already paid for... Everything about it is off. This is a release aimed at relieving the political pressure, not at relieving the hardship of farmers on the NSW Murray. Now I think Littleproud genuinely believe's he's doing his best... that this is a win! That we should all suddenly be thanking him. I believe he's clueless, and is serving the interests of his party over the interests of water users, and GENUINELY thinks we're being ungrateful and don't understand how complicated it all is. But in truth HE is the one who is ignorant, ungrateful for the position of privilege he's been given, and careless with the power he wields over the people he's supposed to serve. Consider: Only a month or so ago the LNP didn't support a motion in the Senate for a 200GL release from environmental water. LNP Senators either no-showed or voted against. All of a sudden, a month later when it's too late and all the crops are dead, he's come out with this 100GL release. Now his excuse will be that it's taken this long to negotiate with the SA government for them to turn on their desalination plant to supply Adelaide with 100GL of water, so that they can take less water out of the Murray, freeing up the 100GL to NSW Murray irrigators. But in a year where over 1,800GL of water has flowed over Lock 1 into Lake Alexandrina (during an 'unprecedented drought', may I remind you! A time when natural flows would have been VERY low were it not for our dams and weirs) it's absurd to imply that they couldn't have used some of that water for farmers. Littleproud (And Sussan Ley for that matter) hide behind the legislation, they say they can't re-allocate water or take water from the environment and give it to farmers because the legislation doesn't allow for that. I say that's a cop out, a deflection from the fact that they're not really trying. Think about it, if they REALLY wanted to help, but couldn't because of the legislation, then they would be proposing AMENDMENTS TO THE LEGISLATION! Where are the amendments? Where are their efforts to get the rules changed so they AN do what they say they want to do...? Actions speak louder than words, and the fact that neither Littleproud, nor Ley, nor the Morrison Government has made ANY attempt to change the rules so that water can be better allocated tells you that they're not actually trying. Add the fact that they FAILED to support legislation proposed by One Nation for a 200GL emergency allocation, and you can see clear-as-day what's going on here. This 100GL is a political convenience. A shiny distraction from their incompetence, mismanagement, delay, and failure. At best it's a bandaid on a bullet wound, applied when the victim has almost bled to death already. It might make the person applying the bandaid feel better, but it sure isn't going to help the victim. The Water Act of 2007 must be repealed, the MDBA must be abolished, the CEWH must sell all its water back to growers, and trading and carryover rules must be adjusted so that speculators can no longer game the system. Nothing less will do, and 100GL isn't going to distract us from this goal.
16.01.2022 This is a critical time for Australian and Victorian democracy. We need our voices heard. If you are questioning why we need to stay in a State if Emergency and all the terrible costs that that brings, please go to this site and fill in the very simple form. We will only be heard if we raise up our voice.
15.01.2022 And here they are. Some luscious beauties, and this variety is good and huge. We will be boxing these up today.
15.01.2022 Introducing some of the hard workers of Silverwood. A big shout out to the hardest workers, the thousands of bees that start the whole cycle. But not forgetting the great picking and packaging staff, who have faced those long long rows of trees and tonnes of cherries, cold mornings and hot afternoons and picked some amazing amounts of cherries in a day. The picking staff have run our pickup people ragged. On one day this week Hai lifted 4500kg into the wooden bins in less than 7 hours! And last, Stanley, who "inspects", but he's really no worker, he just enjoys the fruits of all our labours
14.01.2022 WHEW! We are feeling very relieved today, after yesterday’s forecast heat didn’t eventuate. So I am very pleased to say we are still picking cherries and should have them for another week to ten days. We have sold out of Steve and Sue’s honey for now, but they hope to have more available in the next couple of days.
13.01.2022 Shed door opening hours for the harvest period are from 9-5, every day. Yes, that’s including weekends
10.01.2022 Plenty of cherry lovers are keen to start munching again. Here is how the early ones are looking. Not quite there yet, sorry. We hope to start picking around ten days from now, depending on the weather between now and then. This year they are slow to ripen, but the good thing about that is that they should be YUGE!!!
08.01.2022 Lots of truth bombs are now being detonated. Please have an open mind and investigate for yourself. Victoria cannot sustain the levels of restrictions for any longer.

07.01.2022 The wait is over! Season 2019 has officially started. The cool weather and wind has slowed us down a bit, but we are GO now. Cherries will be available from the shed door from Friday this week. Prices are: Premium large- $10/kg ($50/box) Premium medium- $8/kg ($40/box) Seconds- $3/kg ($15/5kg bag)... We expect our season to last about 4 weeks. Hope to see lots of happy cherry customers soon
07.01.2022 There’s some happy and cherry desperate customers this morning! I have some bad news though, we have not been able to grade any cherries yet, we plan to later this afternoon. So, there will be graded premium cherries from tomorrow morning. I’m terribly sorry for the delay.
06.01.2022 This piece of legislation is deeply worrying. I cannot express my dismay at the wrongness of it enough. Please take a minute to have a look at what powers it gives to the state government. And please make some noise to express your disapproval if you feel the same as I do. I have been emailing those in the Senate who will be vetting and hopefully voting no, but every voice counts. If you want more links please DM me for them.
05.01.2022 Cherry blossom honey now for sale! Steve and Sue are our neighbours and their bees pollinated our trees. Now they have some of that honey available and for sale from here. Can’t get more local than that! A 500g tub is $5... 1kg tub is $10. YUM See more
04.01.2022 Ourbeautiful state is under grave threat. Let those in power know if you have any fears about what is happening here. Email is your friend
02.01.2022 All good things must come to an end, and so it is with regret and relief that I must post that the end of our season has arrived. We will be picking the last cherries on Wednesday this week and I will be closing farm gate sales for season 2019 on Sunday afternoon. If you want to order Christmas cherries please let me know, so that I can reserve them for you. Thank you to all our lovely customers, who have been overwhelmingly kind about the cherries this season. It’s been a pleasure catching up with regular customers and meeting new ones.
