25.01.2022 June 30th is knocking on our door and with everything else happening in the world it is easy to forget that financial year ended 30 June 2020 will most likely determine your childs Youth Allowance payment rate in 2021. So we only have 2 days to ensure we get taxable income down as low as possible. If farmers have you deposited money into Farm Management Deposits? If running a business have you paid children for physical exertion they have contributed to the business? If you have positively geared rental property, have you prepaid interest to negate any profit on the rental property? You need to discuss with your account ASAP
25.01.2022 We are experiencing a lot of phone calls from non-clients stating they cannot get thru on Centrelink phone numbers, and wanting us to assist. Please be aware we are not Centrelink. We simply help people understand their entitlement and to access any entitlement. We are not in a position to offer free services or advice to non-clients or even existing clients. We do offer a fee for service to clients and that is all. Anyone wanting free advice should be contacting Centrelink / Services Australia direct.
24.01.2022 As 2020 academic year draws to a close there will be many Year 12 students turning 18 years of age and with that qualification to Youth Allowance is established. With the payment of $250pf Covid Supplement accompanying regular Youth Allowance payment, now is the time to get them onto Youth Allowance especially if going onto tertiary studies in 2021. Being on Youth Allowance also assists in accessing equity scholarships. Email or message us to evaluate if your 18 year old has a current entitlement to Youth Allowance. As a given Family Tax Benefit will cease to be paid for them come 31st December 2020
23.01.2022 We are fielding a lot of questions in regards which is better payment to be in receipt of, Job Keeper or Centrelink payment be it Job Seeker, Youth Allowance, Austudy etc. Job Keeper pays $1500pf of taxable income with no tax concessions and no concession card Centrelink benefit will pay pay $1100-$1200pf (when $550pf supplement payment kicks in next week(maximum) but with 15% tax concession for gross amount per annum(financial year) over $6000 and comes with concession card,... The above is not to be taken to be tax advise and as such you should consult your accountant in regards any tax situation you need clarity on.
22.01.2022 The 2nd round of economic stimulus lump payment being for $750 should commence to be paid from today. Interestingly this 2nd round of payments have been limited to payments who do not receive the $550pf supplement Therefore those on Youth Allowance, Job Seeker Payment, Parenting Payment will NOT receive the 2nd round of $750 lump sum
20.01.2022 In what I can only label BIZARRE, for those who regularly report their earnings to generate their fortnightly Centrelink entitlement, in their wisdom Centrelink/Services Australia are auto completing such reporting obligation without the need to declare earnings. Whilst this is a generous offering I am somewhat concerned what happens 12 months - 2 years down the track under their Robo Debts / Data Matching program when they say that the earnings recorded by ATO exceeds those earnings reported to Centrelink!! My other concern is that we have completed some reporting for clients over last week whilst some have auto reported so there is no consistent theme.
17.01.2022 Please note $550pf supplement payments begin for people whose entitlement period ends today and that get paid tomorrow. If you are due to be paid today that means your end period entitlement was Friday and hence have to wait 2 more weeks for first $550 supplement payment
15.01.2022 If you need to move away from home to take on an ongoing job or short term agricultural work for at least 6 weeks duration, you may be able to get financial assistance to cover moving costs from 1st December 2020 Upto $3000 to relocate to a capital city, $6000 to relocate to a regional area plus an additional $3000 if you relocate a dependent. You must relocate within Australia and be at least 90 minutes away (based on normal mode of transport) from where you currently live.... Costs can include rent, travel or even some employment related expenses.
13.01.2022 From 1st May government has slashed the deeming rates. This is a fictitious rate of return that you are "deemed "to be receiving on financial investments like shares, managed funds, some superannuation etc. That deemed income is then factored into the income test when calculating entitlement. From 1st May single pensioners deeming will drop from 1% to 0.25% on first $51,800 and pensioner couple same for first $86,200. Above this deeming has dropped from 3% to 2.25%. This will result in increase pension payment for income affected pensioners from 1st May onwards.
13.01.2022 BREAKING: CHILDCARE for essential workers - nurses, doctors and anyone who has a job in current economy under lockdowns will be FREE under new COVID-19 measures announced by government
13.01.2022 With all Youth Allowance recipients in receipt of $550pf supplement payment as part of government stimulus package (on proviso they are paid at least $1 of regular payment) many parents should consider if their 18 year secondary school student would be financially advantaged by claiming Youth Allowance and foregoing Family Tax Benefit with this additional payment. If there is older siblings already on Youth Allowance would also result in higher fortnightly payment for them also
11.01.2022 Appears many of those eligible will be receiving the 1st of the 2 $750 lump sum payments from the government in their accounts tomorrow
05.01.2022 On Monday 30 March, the Federal Government announced they were increasing the threshold a partner earns from $48,000 to $79,762 a year to access Centrelink payments. Eligibility includes out of work, caring for someone with coronavirus, or having your shifts reduced. Employees, sole-traders, self-employed and casual and contract workers are all eligible if you are an Australian citizen or resident between 22 and 66 years old and have an income that meets Centrelink test limit...s. This highlights the ever changing space in this environment. We had advised many that even though they had lost their job or had hours reduced their partners income may preclude them from payment. This certainly opens up a window of opportunity

04.01.2022 It would appear the first round of $750 lump sum stimulus payments is being paid in tranches. The first was paid 31st March and for those who missed payment on that date should arrive this Monday the 6th April
03.01.2022 The Government has announced the details of JobKeeper 2.0 which will supersede the original JobKeeper payments when that expires at end of September. JobKeeper 2.0 will have a 2 tier payment of $1200pf and $750pf depending on average hours worked in Feb 2020. This will take effect from end Sept 2020 and will change again end of December 2020 to $1000pf & $650 pf again based on average hours worked in Feb 2020. The Corona Virus Supplement payment currently $550pf will also be... cut from end Sept 2020 to $250pf. There will also be a change in employer turnover testing for business with excess than $1m turnover who will need to show 50% drop in cash flow to that prior to Corona Virus to qualify for Job Keeper scheme From August 4th Mutual Obligations exemption will be lifted and Job Seekers will need to look for at least 4 jobs per month. From end of Sept asset testing will be re-introduced and liquid asset waiting period will once again be applied. Income threshold for Job Seekers will be lifted to $300pf from $104pf for income that can be earned prior to payments be affected.
01.01.2022 With April quickly coming to a close the first qualification for Job Keeper will also close. Employers need to meet a number of criteria to be eligible to receive Job Seeker in lieu of the qualifying employees. One of those criteria is that those employees were paid Job Keeper at a rate of $1500pf for the month of April. Whilst that should have been paid in each qualifying fortnight there is a feeling the ATO may lacks this a little and as long as qualifying amount was pai...d for the month things may still be ok. If employer has paid nothing for April then there may be some bad news on horizon. As per advise to many of you Job Keeper and Job Seeker are not mutually exclusive BUT saying that any Job Keeper payments received MUST be declared for Job Seeker or any other Centrelink payment. Employers are NOT required to pay superannuation guarantee on Job Keeper payments BUT if staff undertake physical work then superannuation is payable on that component if gross of $445 for the calendar month or above.
