17.01.2022 With the recent changes to the tax rates brought in this month for 01/07/20 - 30/06/21, the taxable income thresholds are; Taxable income Tax on this income 0 to $18,200 Nil $18,201 to $45,000 19%... $45,001 to $120,000 32.5% $120,001 to $180,000 37% $180,001 and over 45% The ATO tax tables have now been adjusted so you should see a little increase in your take home pay as employers are updating their payroll systems to accommodate the changes.

13.01.2022 SCAMS! Recently, I have had a few clients contact me as 'a person posing to be from the ATO' has contacted them requesting payments of overdue accounts and threatening legal action. They have turned out to be a hoax. Current common scammers persuasion tactics include (via phone or email); offering you payment of a tax refund if you supply your bank details, or we need your details to process Jobkeeper payments...... Remember, the ATO will NOT; - send you an email or text requesting information to be sent via email or text. - send you an email with a link to login to Online Services. - send a pre-recorded message saying police are coming to arrest you. - ask for payment by bank transfer to a bank other than Reserve Bank of Australia. This link from the ATO has great information about scams and what action you can take. ato.gov.au/scams I inform my clients, if in any doubt about the person you are talking to tell them to send a letter to my tax agent, they will sort it out :)
