21.01.2022 Had an amazing time at a workshop today held by an amazing artist and dear friend Bec at Left in lines. I learnt some valuable new skills incorporating mindfulness with mandalas, which Bec Bouts specialises in. It was such a peaceful and informative workshop, and everyone just couldn't get enough!... Mindfulness is something I always practice when creating my own art, and it was refreshing to rub shoulders with other artists who also practice a deep presence. I've also always been fascinated by the art of Mandalas, and I now have been mentored by the best in the business. I have a deep gratitude for the amzaing people that I seem to attract in life, that make me a better person, and a better artist. Thanks #leftinlines! #mandalas #mindfulness #art

19.01.2022 Melinda' - oil on linen. Completed 30th April 2020. 76x102cm Back story: After doing literally hundreds of graphite pencil drawings over my 12 year career as a professional artist, I wanted to expand into colour so I moved onto pastels. But I knew in my heart that what I desired most was to eventually be an oil painter.... That day arrived when a friend of mine commissioned me to do a large painting as a 40th birthday present for her partner. I had done some oil paintings before, but mostly abstracts and landscapes. I'd only tried my hand at a few portraits but I knew I could do it so I dived right in and said yes! We set up a photoshoot to create the perfect reference photo with some significant events to it such as the location and the blanket, and then got started. My faith in myself and the Universe paid off and I managed to produce a stunning oil portrait that brought tears to my client's eyes, and awe and disbelief to her partners. I am so pleased with the result and am looking forward to doing many more in the near future! Note: the photo does not do it justice as it was taken on a smart phone; but I'll be getting professional photos taken of it and re uploading in the future. Special thanks to the following people who Made this possible: Ethan Aberle and his photography assistant Angus Northeast for the amazing photoshoot, and supplying the reference photo for the painting, Lisa Jane Mathews for the model's assistance, And last but not least, Melinda Hill as the stunning model and client. 06.01.2022 The Family Property' Pastel on paper 60x50cm Such an epic artwork to create as I focussed on every cm of detail throughout the whole piece, as the background was a significant subject in itself.... The man sitting on the bike grew up in this family home and his two children stand proud next to their dad. The man's father standing behind them sadly passed away earlier this year. The older man and the young boy on the little bike were additions I merged into the original photo which was just man and his son on the bike at the property. This artwork was completed by me in pastels on 60x50cm Canson Mi Tientes sanded paper. I handed the artwork over to my client yesterday and of course she was thrilled! 01.01.2022 All the Grandkids. You may remember this lady in the middle from a past painting I completed for this client. She returned and wanted me to create another, this time with all of the lady's grandkids. This lady tragically passed away recently and was not able to get a photo with all her beloved Grandchildren beforehand.... I just love being able to provide healing through art.
