24.01.2022 Morning shopping trip. This will keep me going for a while with some really nice bits of wood
24.01.2022 Really looking forward to running this class at the start of next year. If you are interested, I think there are a couple of spots left. Also I do one on one classes where we can cover anything you would like to work on. I had a great time with Matt on the weekend covering bowl turning, in particular the push cut.
23.01.2022 I have wanted to do one of these for a while now but haven't had cedar logs. One of my dot series on natural edge. This dry wood was saved from chainsaw practice at tafe so Im glad I got to put it to good use.
23.01.2022 Simple job to start the week. Some toggles for flags
21.01.2022 The last making part of the series I have done for dremel. This part will cover the carving element to making my footprints bowl. If you ahve any questions about the last 3, make sure you ask tomorrow at 11 for the Q&A live stream
18.01.2022 The more I look at the piece, the more I think this is by far my best one. I have now done 2 with the strips to highlight the face and I wish I started doing this from the start. I really wanted to try the different timbers to play with the idea of light fighting dark. For such a complex shape, I cant believe how well this one turned out. As always, my pieces are for sale. Message me about the details if you are interested
18.01.2022 HOW TO START WOODTURNING PART. 1 Learn the basics of woodturning with Simon Begg - equipment and materials needed - choosing the right timber
17.01.2022 It’s one month from Christmas and this time of year I am normally flat out selling my work but that’s not the case for me and many others that normally work mar...kets. I would highly recommend buying gifts from makers rather than just picking something up online. Not only do you get something unique but you really help out a small business. I get than not everyone is after timber pieces so here are some talented friends of mine that would appreciate the support. 17.01.2022 A piece that I made on Sunday for Dremels Mission to Make. In a few weeks there will be a video series on how I made this. Keen an eye out if you want to see the process.

15.01.2022 Turning the Japanese maple
12.01.2022 My next ring turning is done. This may have been the most stressed I have been cutting and I was very happy with the result
12.01.2022 Camphor salad bowls that I had roughed out at the end of last year. These are the bowls that I microwaved earlier in the week
11.01.2022 It’s been hard not having markets all year. I have been going through all my stock and am having a sale. I have added price brackets and can give more details and photos of individual pieces. Also all of the other recent photos I have posted recently, those bowls are also for sale. Also happy to post bowls. All the prices are in AUD
10.01.2022 A new project for me. A commission cigar ash tray from jarrah
09.01.2022 Another winged bowl that I made last week. I really like the shape to this one
09.01.2022 Father’s Day is coming up and if you don’t yet have a present, I have plenty of options. It’s not too late to get something last minute as I have lots of variety at the moment
09.01.2022 New gavel for Andrew at Avenue auctions. The first gavels I made were for him and now he has a new company. Last week we even filmed the making of this one so stay tuned for that.
09.01.2022 Natural edge brown mallee burl
08.01.2022 Over the week, the next 2 parts of my video series with dremel will come out. If you have any questions about how I make my foot print bowls, I’ll be doing a Q and A
07.01.2022 Now for the turning. Here are some tips and tricks for people looking at getting into wood turning. The next video will cover the carving that I do to embellish my bowls and on friday Ill do the Q&A. Also massive shout out to Corey for helping with the filming and editing. Somehow he made me sound alright.
07.01.2022 Last day in Bendigo bank Leichhardt and I have finished my gecko carving, ready for some colour.
06.01.2022 My first commission German ring turning. I have been wanting to add a second timber down the middle for a while and it worked so much better than I expected. Really happy with how this one finished up. Timbers are red cedar and jelutong
06.01.2022 A few more of the fig bowls
05.01.2022 Some natural edge fig bowls
05.01.2022 Something a bit different for me. Day one of chainsaw carving a LifeSize wombat
03.01.2022 So good to have this job finally finished off and delivered. This combination table is all my own design. It has 3 different table types for games or a regular table top. The cabinets can also be broken down so its suitable for a coffee table or raised for a dinning table. Thanks to Zac and Verona for letting me work on such a fun project and ATD Upholstery for the felt work
03.01.2022 All of my German ring turning pieces are also for sale. From my very first to my more recent segment ones. Prices range from $250-500 aud. Also for those wanting to learn the technique, an option for remote demos may be coming soon
02.01.2022 I took a time lapse of the ring turning and this is the process. Not the highest production quality but hoping to film better later in the year for zoom demos (keep an eye on my page if you are interested). When I am asked how I make these I often say I work off a silhouette and poke around at the wood. This one was 4.5 hours of that and came out so well. The cut and reveal at the end is always the best part (if they work)
01.01.2022 A more unique job for the year. This is a dice roller shaped as a wine bottle. The dice go through the neck and bounce out off the angled surface to give a random roll.
