25.01.2022 #FridayFlashback to corporate catering at Adelaide Motorsport Festival last year with a fave dish: roasted baby heirloom cauliflower, charred haloumi, dirt(y) inc pearl peas & mustard greens. Were looking forward to the event this year! [janette - Simons Crew]

25.01.2022 East End Cellars' Soup Kitchen is back for another year. We'd love to have your support for this great initiative started by Margie (EEC) and Hutt St Centre. Very much looking forward to being back in Vardon Avenue with my pot on 11 June.

25.01.2022 cages, REALLY? in 2019 No ONE, human or animal should be in one EFFER, come on people we can do better, take a pledge to be nice to chickens cause they are my favourite type of people and make sure your chooks and eggs are FREE https://www.rspca.org.au/the-pledge RSPCA Australia #RSPCAChooseWisely

23.01.2022 despite the news cycle of doom .... seeing some inspiring acts of compassion and empathy during the tough times of living in a global pandemic... Cooking for people that you care about is one of those things that seems to have made a welcome comeback during ISO. A simple gesture that can make a big difference to someone doing it hard ..... If youre curious how to add a splash of extra kindness to your cooking , there are better systems of production that reduce harm in ways that are both significant and measurable . You have the power to reduce suffering with a few simple bits of information and choosing wisely .... RSPCA Australia podcasts might be a good place to start if youre curious about the ethical minefield of animal ethics . happy listening

23.01.2022 A huge thanks from Simon to everyone for their lovely comments on his recipe post over the weekend. He may not be making another TV series for a while, but thanks to Santos: Proudly Australian, you can catch Simon this week as part of the celebrations for the Santos Tour Down Under, with a daily cooking demonstration (5.30pm - 6.30pm except Sun 20 Jan) at the City of Adelaide Tour Village. For those not in Adelaide, Santos will publish Simons recipes each day. Heres one to get you thinking about dinner... As Simon would say, Happy Cooking! [posted by Simons Crew]

23.01.2022 Hello and happy 2019. Thanks to everyone who has posted with nice words about the re-runs of The Cook and The Chef, currently screening on SBS Australia On Demand, but originally screened from 2006 2009 on ABC TV + iview . Unfortunately the show is so old ( a bit like me!!! ) that the original ABC TV series website with the recipes is long gone ...and many of you have been asking for recipes. But thanks to some persistent googling and a bit of web-sorcery, weve come acro...ss a web archive site which magically still has all of the recipes from the show! Yes, its true... all the recipes can be accessed via this site. Tip: youll have more success using the Browse by Name search than the Search Recipes function. If you want to find a recipe from the show, heres the link: https://web.archive.org//www./tv/cookandchef/recipes/A.htm Thanks for watching and happy cooking!! See more

23.01.2022 Yup, the good people at Serafino Paws for a Cause are letting me cook for DOGGLES - my favourite type of people . Soooooo, chuck your puppy in the car and head up the hill to Serafino Wines. After a quick Hokkien noodle making class / demo of how to wok em up ( that would be my job, I love em but dogs arent so good at making noodles ) , buy a $5 tasting serve of human food ( Sid the Doberboy will take your cash, hes good at that ) and 100% of the proceeds will go straight onto / into a needy dogs paws/ pocket...wherever they keep their cash . Everyones a Dogdamn winner ...and theres heaps of other good stuff to do for the day for a worthy cause ....

22.01.2022 Its only a month away until one of my absolute favourite events of the year...The Big Issue Australia - The Big Lunch on 29 July. Very much looking forward to working with the awesome team from Hilton Adelaide and Food According to Bree, as well as cooking with all the great produce provided by the generous Adelaide Central Market stallholders, and numerous other supporters of the event, with Yalumba wines.

21.01.2022 Tomorrow morning Simon will be cooking up a storm with the help of a few friends for JusticeNet SAs - Walk for Justice 2019, finishing at Published Arthouse for a well-deserved breakfast. Well have the woks firing with Simons version of "Mrs Jangs deep-fried eggs w/ green chilli sambal" along with a heap of other good stuff, none of which would be possible without the generous support from an array of our suppliers who donated everything from eggs, to flour, to cheese, to... fruit & veg, along with the serving plates! Thank you - Rohdes Free Range Eggs Fleurieu Milk Company Something Wild Merchant St Wholesalers Nocelle Foods Woodside Cheese Wrights Mise En Place Besa Juice Absorb It also takes a lot of hands to put this altogether and our chief-chef-wrangler Paul Cleary has harnessed an awesome crew of volunteer chefs and helpers - thank you!! 20.01.2022 Simon is pretty excited to be kicking off Sparkke at the Whitmore's Guest Chef series on Sunday, firing up his trusty wok for a "How-to Hokkien Noodles" with tips, tricks and some eyebrow-singeing heat. Followed by a 3-course dinner including Simon's noodles straight from the wok, along with a dish from the Sparkke Kitchen inspired by some of Simon's favourite things. Dinner is completed with a wine pairing by winemaker Rose Kentish and some of Sparkke's 100% natural brews. Simon looks forward to meeting you on August 30! 19.01.2022 a small skinny human and a bunch of bile farm cages . Moon Bears my weight, twice, and up to three times my weight previously spent their WHOLE LIVES existing in these. These cages are EMPTY thx to @Animals Asia , the bears are mentally and physically cared for by a bunch of good humans in a sanctuary and no longer poked and prodded for their bile ...... Ive been growing a pathetic excuse for a beard to help end the cruelty . By funding beards for bears you can make that pile of EMPTY cages higher . 02.01.2022 May is Animals Asias Beards for Bears month. The challenge grow your hair (beard) to show you care and support the important work Animals Asia do to rescue and rehabilitate thousands of bears from the inhumane bear bile farms in Asia. Well yes, I do already have a beard and whilst Id love to grow a decent one for the bears i.e. with some cheek hair, genetics are not going to allow this to happen. Rather than carry out a futile and humiliating attempt to beard-up for the bears, Im going to shave off this wayward chin-mullet at the end of the month if my $2,500 target is reached by 31 May. If you can, please help the bears and in turn youll be saving me from further beard-anxiety! #endbearbilefarming
